Ranveer Singh gears up to start shooting of 'Padmavati'

Ranveer Singh, who was the first star to be signed for the film, will essay the role of Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next 'Padmavati' that features Deepika Padukone in the title role and Shahid Kapoor as her husband in the film.


Says a source, "Ranveer Singh essays the role of the larger-than-life Alauddin Khilji in 'Padmavati'. He will be portrayed in the film like never before and has been very excited about it ever since he signed the film. Alauddin Khilji is a character that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has long wanted to bring to life onscreen. Since the two share such a great equation offscreen they can't wait to start work on the movie and have their camaraderie and working chemistry, translate into cinematic magic. Ranveer is excited about the role, which promises to be his career's finest and is prepping for it in full swing".
