Its disgusting how lots of women think its ok for the guy to do whatever they want to do while they wait for him

Sadly this doesnt only apply to books and movies 😡

The virgin girl and the player a successful story 😡

It would be great if women/girls would stop watching shows and books with that concept

It would be a good step

Sex is a personal choice, there is nothing wrong with that
This purity thinking should be stopped
If a girl is seen as impure and undeserving than the guy should be equally undeserving and impure in their eyes

Double standards come often from girls/women which makes me really angry

I actually agree with this. It comes a lot from this whole entertainment concept, be it books, movies - and that includes both HW and BW.

Where did you ever see a 'bad girl'/girl who sleeps around vs a 'good' virgin boy movie/book concept? Somehow, flip it the other way, and the story becomes a WOW. What absolute load of bullcrap!

People should change their mindset first. By the definition used for calling people wh*res and sl*ts, half the guys I know should be called that as well then. There is this 'image' a girl has to have. Ladhka chahe jaise bhi, kya farak padhta hai? Woh toh ladhke waale hai.

I think it's changing though, very slowly but surely. Tiny steps. I suppose also because people are evolving with time. Baring a few orthodox misogynists, guys don't ask girls whether they're 'virgins' anymore. Or if they do, I doubt it's a deciding factor. They're educated enough to realize that.

Intresting discussion!

s**t shaming is real sad but i believe if a guy doesnt wish to marry a particular kind of girl its not s**t shaming but hypocrisy and there is a difference between the two!!

This movie discussion keeps coming up in this forum 😆 I need to watch it again to see what was happening. I loved it the first I watched, but it wasn't the movie I loved as I don't even remember the parts this forum keeps talking about and the double standards shown in the movie. I loved the movie because my cousin and I had good time watching it at that time since I was sad those days, so I was happy to be with my cousin. But now may be I need to watch this again. Not sure if I will be able to finish it if it's really this disgusting as many here said so.

Anyway, if the movie was really like that, that's just sick. I have seen guys in real life behaving this way too. But as someone said, it's the women who think of other girls as s**ts as well and think such guys are okay doing it. Not all women, but i guess most of them. I guess it's true most women like bad boys and think somehow think they can change them Delusion at best. Personally, never liked bad boys. They disgust me, so I really don't get how can most women like them???😕 It's so weird.

Another hypocrisy is, talking big about feminism and women but when it comes to choosing husband or favorite movie character , it is someone like zaroon, Raj of DDLJ, Rahul or KKHH .They must be the worst male characters .I still don't understand what these women see in those male characters ..Fawad was damn good in acting there , But Zaroon was a big time MCP .

Yes , men choose virgin wife and women choose rich guys ..But mostly average ones .Who are not evolved enough or strong enough .

If you can have sex before marriage why can't a girl?
If you are independent , why you need financial security from a man?

I know many men and women now a days who are not concerned about the two things mentioned ..But they are very rare .

There is a part of me that is upset about how things turn out in Cocktail. This seems to happen all the time in Bollywood. The 'modern' girl is jilted for the 'traditional'.
Movies however, tend to reflect life and portray society as it is. From a very young age men and women have been conditioned to act and think in a certain way.

Men are conditioned to believe that a good wife is virginal and homely. They are taught that virtue/virginity is not necessary for men. They tend to have fun in their youth and then find someone traditional to settle down with.

Women are conditioned to believe that their purpose in life is to be a good wife. They are taught to preserve their honor and immerse themselves in culture. They are told that boys will be boys, and if she is virtuous she will be able to win over and tame the wildest of men.

I do believe though that every generation can change for the better. We can all make minor changes in our thought process and behavior so that these 's**t shaming' stereotypes are not perpetuated.

Having sex or staying a virgin is a personal choice. Being career oriented or domestic is a choice. Having a social life or being homely is a choice. Men and women both should do what they want. Their life choices should be their own choices and not dictated by society.

Parents should tell their sons that they should marry someone whom they can love and respect for the rest of their lives, and it shouldn't matter what lifestyle the girl has chosen. They should tell their sons that it is hypocritical to sleep around but expect women to be virgins. They should tell their daughters that their life goal is not to marry and be moms. That their life is their own and they are free to make their own choices.

I think women really need to be strong to start bringing about change. Feel free to stand up for yourself. Don't be afraid to expect men to virginal and traditional. Don't be afraid to remain single until you find one who meets your expectations. Don't change yourself so someone can finally find you marriage worthy. Be yourself. Don't be afraid to remain single until someone accepts you for who you are. If some douche dumps his committed girlfriend because you are the virginal girl he can take home to mom, do not be afraid to dump his ass. And if some douche dumps you because he found some marriage worthy virginal girl, do not cry over him. Let him know that your life is better now that his selfish needs are out of it.

It definitely did.

I fail to understand what virginity has to do with someone's personality or whether they're a good person or not. I think society is way too obsessed with it, when it means zilch.

Also, why is Veronica not 'decent'? She sleeps around, but not like she harasses people, commits crimes or anything of that sort. I haven't seen this film because of its hypocrisy. A guy like Gautam who is very much the male version of Veronica wants a Meera at the end. Lmao.

I think people are people and if you're only marrying a person because they're a virgin, you might be in for a rude shock to discover that it doesn't determine whether they're a good partner for you at all.

Movies also groom girls or have been trying to groom girls since years and is now in our culture that their honor izzat are their breasts and nether regions and if they are violated then they have lost their dignity and can never be the same again, which is ridiculous, honor is so much more than their bodies and it doesn't define them in any way or should not define them in that way.
