Hey, Katori 😉
Na, I'd say the similarities to Mahabharat are more superficial than anything. As you yourself pointed out one of the main differences: Omkara's character, he's devoted to his brothers and not interested in the business, not even in the least. Also, the comparison of Shivaay to Yudhistr doesn't really hold up, does it? From what I know, Yudhistr was "big" on morals/laws etc... whereas Shivaay is crooked. He can do anything for his family, even to satisfy his own ego, and breaking moral codes isn't that difficult for him - unlike Omkara.
Jhanvi, too, doesn't seem to be blind to everything going on around her, tbh. We didn't get that good an insight to her character, as of now, but she seems like a sharp woman. As for Shakti - I wouldn't be too sure about him. He seems subdued and guilt ridden due to something, but as they see, still waters run deep. I think there's more to him than meets the eye.
Anyway, I have to keep this short, lol xD Have to rush off. Eitherway, if they ruin the brothers' relationship (and I don't mean showing tensions and other difficulties, but really ruining it) - then that was that for me. The show's essence is the brother's love for each other, imho, if that gets lost along the way, no use to watching it for me 😆
