Today's episode was a preparation for some really interesting court drama coming up in the next few episodes.
A determined Jassi, a shattered father, a devastated lover, an evil enemy and a worried friend....it had it all.
JAIL: PURAB, NANDU & JASSI
Nandu & Purab are looking at Jassi as if she has gone bananas.
"Are you crazy, Jassi??" asks Nandu, stunned to hear that she did not want bail.
"No Nandu!" she hushes. "And stop calling me by my name. Here, I am Jessica, and only Jessica!"
Purab is looking at her sternly. 🤔
"Are you blind?" he asks her, all his facial bones hardening infinitely." Look around you! You are in JAIL!!"
"I know, Purab! But I do want this case to extend...I want the public to know and read the truth...I want them to know what Jassi and her family went through...I want them to know what hideous crimes Mallika has committed!" Jassi exclaims, fire blazing from her eyes.
Do you know how risky this is?" asks Purab, looking worried. "You may have to stay in jail for days on end."
"I am ready Purab! I have suffered a lot, and I am willing to bear some more in order to unveil the truth. Mallika has to accept her crimes, and for that I am ready to admit that I have killed Jassi", she says with determination.
"Have you gone nuts, Jassi?" asks Nandu, almost crankily.
"Although I admit the murder, no one can hang me or killing myself, right?" she tries to convince her two friends. "All I need is the support of you two! Just promise me that you will not tell anyone that Jassi is alive and also that I am Jassi. Promise??" she asks.
Nandu breaks into tears and turns away. 😭 Purab looks hopeless.
"Please!! Please promise me!!" she pleads.
"Ok, we promise" they agree reluctantly.
Just then the constable comes to tell them that their time is up & there is someone else waiting to talk to Ms. Jessica Bedi: Mallika Seth.
Jassi asks Purab & Nandu to leave as Mallika won't say anything in front of them.
Nandu looks at her tearfully. "Promise me you'll come out soon!" he looks like a little kid.
"Shh Nandu!" she smiles through her tears. "Of course, I'll get out soon and then I'll come back to you, to Papa, Mama, Bebe..and I'll come to you all as Jassi, not Jessica." she assures.
Purab is looking utterly unconvinced. "You know what I'm feeling...."
"Yes, I do Purab", she cuts him. "Now, bye! You must leave.
JAIL: PURAB, NANDU & MALLIKA
Purab & Nandu come across Mallika who is waiting in the cabin outside Jassi's cell.
She smiles wickedly. 😈
"Purrrrrab!!" she says with her sarcastic accent. "Didn't I tell you we would meet again? And tell me, how is your fashion house..whatever it's name is, running without Jessica??"
Purab glares at her angrily. 😡 ( I must say, I could count the bones on his face, sorry Purabadditcts, just kidding! 😛 )
"Tch tch Nandu!" she continues. "I feel soooooo bad for you! Two blows at once on poor you: One, your only client goes inside (pointing towards Jassi's prison) and two; your only friend goes up (pointing upwards).
Nandu moves towards her, unable to control his rage. Purab firmly plants his hand on his shoulder and stops him. He leads him out, leaving Mallika to smile her evil smile.
JAIL: MALLIKA AND JASSI
Mallika smiles victoriously at her rival. 😈
"Hello Jessica! Enjoying yourself?? Nice place, I must say." she rolls her eyes, being at her sarcastic best.
"Really? Want to come in?" fires Jassi. (Way to go girl! 👏 )
"You are a strange girl Jessica! In spite of being locked up in jail, your mouth won't lock itself. Don't worry, a few days more inside and it will shut up too, on its own! Btw, you threw me out of my office, but I am good Jessica! I threw you inside, not outside! she grins bitterly.
"And you think I can't free myself? " Jassi asks.
" Neither you, nor Purab nor your third class friend Nandu can free you, Jessica! The only person who can, is ME: Mallika Seth", she says, looking like the frog whose stomach blew till it burst.
"OMG!!!" Jassi acts dramatically. "Please Mallika..do anything but free me! What do you want Mallika?" she folds her hands, the nerve on her forehead twitching.
Mallika's false smile disappears. Her true evil look returns.
"I want my Gulmohur back!" she thunders.
"Interesting!!" Jassi twists her mouth "Good plan you chalked out, but I'm afraid it won't work!"
"And why do you think so?"
"Prove then in court that your claim that I killed Jassi is true!" Jassi challenges.
Mallika smiles in surprise. "You want to extend this case?? Do you know the punishment?? You can be hanged!!" she threatens.
"I know. So will you be able to prove it?"
" You're challenging me?" asks Mallika.
"I am. If I win, you go out of Gulmohur, and if you win, I go straight up." Jassi declares.
"Agreed!"
Mallika leaves.
OUTSIDE THE JAIL: PURAB & NANDU
Purab & Nandu are discussing Jassi's madness. Purab exclaims that he's afraid that this may complicate the case, especially if anyone finds out that Jassi has used a false name to sign papers. He worries that this is a legal crime and Mallika can use this to trap Jassi. Nandu agrees and says that he wished Jassi agreed for the bail. Purab says that he wants the same too, but in order to expose Mallika, they now need to approach the court and not the jail.
WALIA HOUSE: BEBE & BILLU
Bebe is praying to Babaji to protect her Jassi, wherever she is. Billu rests his head against the wall, looking old with fatigue. He asks his mother why she is deceiving herself. Bebe scold him to have faith in God & that she firmly believes that Jassi is somewhere around. Billu questions her that if she were around, then why didn't she come home or at least inform them? Bebe suggests there may be some valid reason behind that. Billu argues that no reason is so big and no girl allows her family to mourn her funeral. Bebe raises her finger in agitation and says that he never say what he has just said. She tells him that such words are ill omen and asks him to trust God. Billu mutters desperately that he has lost trust in himself. Bebe reminds him that he was the one who would always teach this to his daughter, how could he forget it now? She tells him that surely there may be some objective behind Jassi's behaviour; once it's fulfilled, she'll surely return to them.
PURAB & NANDU WITH THE LAWYER
The lawyer is telling them that a bail is usually difficult in murder cases, but considering that there is no earlier record of Jessica and also Purab's high status, it will be relatively easier. Purab & Nandu look relieved.
ARYAN AND MALLIKA
Aryan is worried that Mallika's plan should not back fire on her. Mallika asks him indignantly if he's trying to scare her. She says that Mallika can't lose. Aryan says that he's not scaring her, but they need more solid proofs. He reminds her that their final objective is getting back Gulmohur. Mallika tells him that she hasn't forgotten it either. Aryan says that they need to employ a new & efficient lawyer who will strengthen the case, to avoid any risks. Mallika wonders where they will get such an efficient public prosecutor.
JAIL: JASSI & ARMAAN
Ahaha! Another cute scene! An oasis in a desert! ❤️
A lady constable comes and tells Jassi that there is someone to meet her. Jassi looks puzzled as her expected visitors had all come, when....her eyes light up to see Armaan.
Well, Armaan is a sight to see. He looks bad : a loose white shirt ( perfect for Rin ads: needs a wash badly), not even tucked in, unshaven face and listless eyes.
He comes to face Jessica, expressionless, then turns away.
Jassi looks scared. "What have you done to yourself??" she asks in alarm.
"You are asking this?? YOU??" he asks her, his voice rising." You, because of whom, my plight is like this? Tell me, please, tell me where is Jassi?? he shouts at her in accusation.
"You think I have hidden her??" she asks painfully.
"ENOUGH!!" our tiger thunders, after a long, long time. "ENOUGH!!" he raises a finger to his lips. "You had said you have her in your house, didn't you? Then how can Jassi just disappear, how can she?" he narrows his eyes. "You know I cannot live without her...pray tell me where she is, please!!" he begs, looking pitiful.
"Please control yourself. She..she is alive" Jassi swallows. "And she will soon come back to you; Can one take breath when the other cannot?"
Armaan's eyes light up for a second.
"Then where is she??" he can't stop asking. "I want to feel her, hear her voice...."
"Jassi is near you..she is in you! Just feel her...place your hand on your heart and feel her presence!"
Armaan puts his hand on his poor heart. 💔
"Why are you doing this Jessica?? What is your objective??" he shouts, moving close to her.
She clutches his hand on the iron bars of the cell. "I will tell you..tell you everything, Armaan Sir.........!!!!!....
You could hear a pin drop. Armaan looks at her in shock. Jassi can't face herself. Armaan's eyes bore deep, deep into her's.
His eyes turn to her hand tight on his. He loosens the grip, removes her hand and literally throws it back into the jail, in contempt.
"Armaan Sir?? This word sounds good from only Jassi's mouth. From your mouth...it is nothing short of a joke!! A cruel joke!" he says with infinite pain and walks away, leaving his Jassi to suffer in pain.
What a scene...wow Armaan Sir..this is why we love you!!! 🤗
ARYAN, MALLIKA AND MR.THAKRAL
Aryan is talking to a man on the phone. He mentions that his contact told him that this public prosecutor (PP) is an ace at fixing any case & they want his help regarding the Jessica Bedi case.
"Jessica Bedi? What do you want done? Hearing extended? False witnesses?" the man asks.
"Much more than that Mr. Thakral" says a greedy Aryan. The man assures him that this PP will surely help them and gives him his number.
Mallika asks her brother if he's sure this man can help them. Aryan tells her the "great story" of this PP winning 299 cases out of the 300 he has undertaken. The one he did not win was because his client landed up in his grave half way through the case. 🤢
He then proceeds to call the PP.
We can see only the back side of the PP's head, enveloped in a cloud of smoke from his cigar. (We all know that he's Aman Verma)
Aryan tells him that they need him regarding the Jessica Bedi case. Mr. Thakral (PP) says that it surely is a high profile case & asks Aryan why they need him at this moment. Aryan says that they want Jessica to be punished severely.
Mr.Thakral raises another cloud of smoke. He laughs that this is a PP's work, which he is; more effort means more punishment and that means more fees.
Aryan assures him that they will pay him handsomely. Mr. Thakral asks them their choice: Life term or hanging. Aryan asks him to talk to his sister..
Mallika tells Mr. Thakral that she has heard his praises a lot.
Mr.Thakral laughs that he too has heard them, but would like to hear the work now.
Mallika tells him that there is something which Jessica knows and they don't and she might just surprise them in court with this. Mr.Thakral says that he is the one who surprises people. 😲 He says that he will find out her secrets and raises strong witnesses. All they need to prove is how innocent & simple Jassi was. He further mentions that the defense has applied for bail.
Mallika looks surprised and asks how he knows that.
Mr.Thakral smiles (smoking all the more) that he knows each & every happenening in court.
Mallika says that she likes his style. Mr.Thakral says that he likes her's too. Mallika then hangs up, saying that they'll meet the next day. She and her brother shake hands in delight.
WALIA HOUSE
Nandu tells Billu that they are all thinking wrong, this is Jessica's plan. Billu shouts that he speak clearly, as he can't bear it anymore. Nandu stammers that Jassi is a live. A shocked silence. Tears stream down Billu's face. Amrit comes running, sobbing relentlessly. 😭 😭 "Really" she exclaims again & again, and asks Nandu where her daughter is.
Nandu is quiet. Billu cries that he stop giving them false hope and tell them the truth. He says that he'll never forgive him otherwise. Nandu is also crying by now. He tells Billu that he is like a father to him and he can't lie to him. He says that he loves them all. Billu shouts that he then tell them where Jassi is and gives him his kasam (promise). Nandu cries that he cant tell. Billu loses his composure and screams at him to get out then. He accuses him of giving them false hope and says that the two of them can deal with their grief alone. He asks him to get lost. Nandu goes and amrit and Billy sob painfully.
Outside, Nandu breaks down into tears. 😭 He says to himself that Papaji gave him his promise, but he too has promised Jassi and he can't break it. He says that he can't see Papaji break down and wished he convinced them that Jassi is alive.
Mallika is asking Aryan to hurry up (on the phone) as Mr. Thakral is coming.
Meanwhile, Jassi's bail is rejected by the lawyer. Purab asks him why. He says that he didn't know that Mr. Thakral was dealing with the case. He tells Purab that it is not only difficult, but impossible to win a case against Mr. Thakral.
Mr. Thakral is getting ready to meet his clients.
Aryan is trying to assure Mallika not to worry about Jessica's challenge and the secrets she suspects she has. Mallika argues that Jessica knows things they don't.
"I know things that will strengthen our case" A voice booms. Mr. Thakral.
"I haven't lost a single case till now and that is my identity" , he boasts. "Winning is my habit, and that I will , by hook or by crook."
Mr.Thakral's ego rises in the cloud of smoke sent by his cigar.
TOMORROW: Jassi is in the court. The judge asks her where her lawyer is. She says that she will fight the case, on her own.
I believe audience in UAE didn't get JJKN today. It has already been shown in UK and hopefully viewers in USwill see it later in the day.
