so apparently his spokesperson has confirmed the news, well thats wat the article is saying, the cast has not been finalised

After Bajirao, Bhansali's next to be based on Ala-ud-Din Khilji?

His last directorial venture Bajirao Mastani (2015), set the cash registers ringing at the box office and bagged most of the popular awards this year. Apparently, now, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next will be based on the life of Ala-ud-Din Khilji, a ruler of the Khilji dynasty, who served from 1296 to 1316. The film is expected to highlight the ruler's obsession with the queen of Mewar, Rani Padmini (also known as Padmavati).

An insider reveals, "The scripting process has begun, but the cast hasn't been finalised yet. Hence, it isn't clear when the shoot for the same will begin. But the film is slated to release on December 15, 2017."

The insider adds that the movie is tentatively titled Padmavati. Interestingly, in 2008, Bhansali had directed an opera titled Padmavati, which was staged in Paris, France. Though the filmmaker remained unavailable for a comment, his spokesperson confirmed the news.

so from wat i hav read, the love story isn't between khilji and padmavati, padmavati was married to ratan singh, but khilji became obsessed with her and tried to be with her by force, so khilji is the villain in the story

Knowing SLB, he is going to make Khjili's obsession for Padmavati look like some epic love story. 😆

I think Ash Rai would be a perfect choice for Padmavati 👍🏼 Maybe also cast Ranveer opposite her 😳 Then it would be just perfect!

lol i dont think he can make that into a love story, khilji i'm sure will be made to look like the bad guy, he forced her to be with him

and yes i think aish wud be perfect as padmavati!

Zara he could not force anything on her...did not even come in touching distance of her...just saw her reflection in a mirror and his lust for her was rumoured to be one of the reasons for him to attack and subsequently kill Ratan Singh. Padmini committed Jauhar than fall in his clutches. I hope he does not make a farce out of this story and remains historically accurate.

I know he didn't physically force her, but he kept threatening her and her husband if she wudnt be with him

The story was made into an opera that slb directed in France, so I think the movie will be based on that musical version

The sets for this movie will be unbelievable...from Khilji's palace in Delhi to Chittorgarh fort...wonder if he will get to shoot on location.

I wouldn't put it past SLB to distort facts just so he can make a grand epic love story. And the Sultan never came in direct touch of Padmavati, he just saw her and went into crazy obsessive stalker mode wanting her all for himself. However, he could never get her because she commits Jauhar (a form of sucide where the queens jump into fire) before he could even reach her.

But yea, he does try to force her husband by making him a prisoner.

I just hope he won't take DP-RS again, it's getting redundant now.

And also, there was no actual proof that Queen Padmavati existed in history so that gives him quite the leeway to do whatever he wishes with the story. He can say it's based on some book or another which was based on the poem.

Ok I thought her existence as Rattan Singh's wife was factual established although Padmavati is considered as a exaggerated mainly fictional work by Malik Mohd Jayasi. It does give him a lot of leeway to distort then.
