If he sticks to the facts and folklore and avoids excess melodrama, then this can be one beautiful story! And no one else but Aish please! I somehow can't imagine anyone else in that role! And Chittorgarh fort would look so much more beautiful in SLB's vision! The story of how Alaudin khilji saw her in the mirror is so interesting in its description itself. (She bent over the lake from the jal Mahal in the centre, the reflection was caught on by the mirror in the fort. Such brilliant architecture!)

There is a saying in Rajasthan,

Gadhon mein gadh Chittorgarh baaki sab gadhaiya!

Raniyon mein raani Padmini (Padmavati) baaki sab Ranaiya!

Bring it on!

I'm tired of love stories in the name of historical really. For once, I would want to watch a historical that doesn't have a love story as a central theme. Bollywood and its obsession with romance.

It's a perfect story for him actually, it had all the aspects that is usually seen in an SLB movie.

More than Padmavati, it's going to be difficult for him to find actors for Rattan Singh and Sultan, also an actress to play Rattan's first wife but I think the first wife won't get much focus in this story.

Ah I had forgotten that fact. I remember there being a lot of problems when there had been a tv drama on Padmavati because the Rajput community didn't like some of the stuff shown. The story is more suited for a 2 hour movie than a tv series IMO.

I guess SLB might just stick to the original story with a few twists here and there, might end up making Padmavati a warrior queen 😆 but I doubt that might be a problem for the Rajputs.

Rani Padmini was known for her bewitching beauty and she's our desi version of cleopatra and only aishwarya can carry off this role...

Maybe the love story will be between raja ratan singh and rani padmini but knowing SLB he is known to twist the story..

Ratan singh and Padmavati's love story is interesting,apparently Padmavati was the princess of Srilanka, and Ratnasen heard of her from her bird who was sold to Ratnasen somehow.Then he went to Srilanka as a peasant and their love bbloomed,after Ratnasen revealed his identity they got married.Ratnasen had other wives also though before marrying her.I feel SLB would love to work on this angle too.

I don't see Ash coming within a hundred feet of this project if Salman is involved.

And to think of it, Indian history is filled with so many marvelous stories. BW makers are too short-sighted to think of any of them.
