How dare they turn an iconic show that broke every stereotype prevalent at the time -- and broke the back of that horrid Ekta Kapoor -- into a 'dripping with cliche', rubbishy, utterly stupid and unbelievable sequel?
The post-leap show just sucks. It is riddled with holes the size of moon's crators.

Nandini does not remember that she is a chid of Shivraj Shekhar, Collector of Udaipur who died a martyr and was decorated with Rajasthan Ratna?

Nandini does not remember that she belonged to an illustrious family of war heroes and IAS officers?

Nandini does not remember that her mother lived with the most influential family of Jaitsar? That she became a sarpanch of Jaitsar at a time few women in Rajasthan had any career?

Why was she trembling with fear when her foster father picked her up? Where was that Nandini who fought a monster like Kundan and was shown to be fearless throughout the show?

Why did she hide her illustrious past from her adoptive parents?

Why does she behave as if she has something to be ashamed of?

Why did she not tell the media which family she was from and how she was kidnapped and married off, and how that marriage was annulled?

Why did she look on helplessly when the prospective in-laws of her adoptive sister described her in offensive terms and said she was from a place "where they bought and sold girls?"

What utter crap was that?

When does a kidnapped child bride become a prostitute?

Why should her sister be rejected for her long ago past as a BV? Did she even explain to the would be in-laws who she really was and how she came to become a BV?

How dare they end Shivraj Shekhar's dreams for his children like this? He named them Nandini and Shivam and said they will always be together. How dare they they dash that dream?

And how dare they add insult to injury by making her drop the Shekhar name?

How dare they show Jagya as someone who didn't even bother to find Anandi's daughter?

How dare they????

And this Mahi Vij is an unqualified disaster.
Instead of feeling emotional at her faux bravery before the TV media, I laughed at how ridiculous she looked.

Her foster parents are a joke. All the mutual hugging and praising left me cold.

This soap is so OTT, and so much like every other stupid soap that it has no business whatever to use the BV name.

Even during its worst phase original BV was head and shoulders above this.

Hi Shinya
Thanks for remembering me. I generally took a break from commenting. But I did pop in occasionally to read the WUs and all your posts.

How could Anandi leave her kids as orphans?

What an irony that the show that showed EK her place is emulating her and with even more stupidities?

She must be laughing her head off.

I'm mad -- and thankfully all of the forum too.

If it was just another show I wouldn't care.

This is BV, a cult show. How could they ruin it like this?

Colors has turned into a bizarre circus with snakes, ghosts and witches. The new BV fits in very well.

I thnk we all should get together, form an andolan and make them change the name of the show form Balika Vadhu to any other crap name.

And that Mahi cannot be Anandi's daughter, let her be some other orphan.

No character from the old show must be present in this comedy circus. Let them make this circus a success on their own without using the original brand name.

I totally SECOND that.
If any of you is organising a protest memo, please count me in.

BV was a breath of fresh air that started turn stale towards the end.

Now it has become putrified and the stench is unbearable.

In my opinion there is only on on-going show that is worth a watch. It is called Tamanna and it is about a woman cricketer.

The story is gimmick-free and straight-forward, the characters are very real, the cast superb and the acting is outstanding.

Dhara, the lead is truly inspirational. Her father fights orthodoxy and his own mother to train her as a cricketer -- the cricket training is shown in detail, not some make believe Shiv Niketan stuff -- and she becomes a state-level player. Her grandmom who believes women have no business playing cricket marries her off.

Dhara comes out of the abusive marriage, pro-actively takes a divorce -- no attempts at compromise even though there's a child, no self-pity, no shedding tears -- and starts her second innings as a cricket coach.

The second part is set in Meerut where she is a coach in a government school. Parts of it are arguably not so credible because she lives alone with her child in a communally volatile neighbourhood.

Tamanna forum is predictably dull as there is no romantic lead to lust after and write FFs. And the few members immediately critiqued her relocation to Meerut.

But the way the CVs have handled the story, including the Hindu-Muslim angle-- is truly commendable.

There is no caricature. The cricket looks real; she actually coaches the boys and tries to bridge the H-M divide.

Hi rohini. So nice to see you here again.
Yes bv has become unbearable and actually repulsive. The stories change, the characters die or vanish and the character traits too change overnight as per the directors wishes.I gave a benefit of doubt and tried watching the first two episodes post leap. But after seeing how the old story ended and how ridiculous the twins story turned out to be,I give up on this serial. No hope left.

I've Never seen any serial other than bv till date. And it feels sad to see how it has turned out to be. At what time does this serial tamanna air? And on which channel? I could give it a try if the timing is convenient.

I have only one complaint from the post leap show. They should NOT use the name Balika Vadhu. If they don't, I will not even bother to care for what all nonsense they show. I still wonder what made the channel and the makers to turn the once path breaker show into a circus..

I think all of us have just that one demand: call it anything but BV. Who cares what the listless, dumbass characters do in that unrelated serial?
Why does the channel, which is on a roll producing a spate of shows around ichchadri naagins, witchcraft, ghosts and rebirth, and making tons of moolah by all account, cling to the pretence that it is into serious shows?

The channel owes it all to BV and what it is doing now is a complete travesty, a betrayal of the hope it brought eight years ago. Colors is by far the worst, most regressive channel on General entertainment TV today.

Alchemist, I took a break. BV had deteriorated to melodrama and macabre twists towards the end, making it unwatchable. But I came back to watch the end and very foolishly the new beginning.

You are right. This Nandini makes Anandi look like a spring chicken. She is dull, looks oldish, and can't act to save her life.

Her tears do nothing. And her foster-mother looks like a villain masquerading as a loving mother.

Tamanna airs on Star Plus at 10 pm. The best part of the show is probably behind it. The relationship between the father and young Dhara was awesome with tons of lovely scenes like the both of them stealing out to play cricket and stealthily watching test matches on TV etc. Do catch the early episodes if you can. It transports you to old DD days with its authentic small-town setting and very natural acting.
