Are TV serials also responsible for regressive society?

Yeah totally.
A concept is created in the mind that the guys who hurt you are the ones who will love you immensely.Misbehaving, manhandling is like a sign to symbolise love.
Not just that there is a concept of happily ever after created in mind and illusion that guys are the ones who can solve all your problems.
Marriage is made really essential and as a child I swear hummed bg music in intense situations😆

That can be looked to either ways.
They become bitchy because they are potrayed as to the ones who will get sucess by their means.
Society has them because that's what we have been shown by years.
Why do you think eve teasing started until the guys watched a scene in movie and then the girl later falls for the guy irrevocably?

If concept is strong enough and the episodes are limited to just 20-30 without deviating from the concept then there is something new we can learn. Agar Trp ke chakkar mai 200 300 1000 2000 10K banayenge toh episodes mai concept jo starting mai tha woh bhul jathe hai aur kuch bhi dikhane lagte hai. There are soo many asian dramas which are short but they do teach a valuable lesson. Hindi serials mai rona dhona Violence, cheating,jo mann me aaye wahi karo planning plotting goes on for days.

It leaves the viewers in such a bad taste. People wish to enjoy and see something positive they dont wish to get migranes by watching wahi ghisa pita stories😆😆 but suprisingly people watch that and those annoying bgm kaan phatane ke liye bajate hai. People may try and imitate what is being shown and do justify it by doing it so. Usne aisa kiya toh hum kyu nahi kar sakte hai?

If TV serials appear to be regressive to you and yet they are quite popular among the masses, then the society is already regressive. Serials and movies are part of the society not outside of it, and the existing social condition gets reflected in them.

However, TV serials and movies cannot escape complete responsibility either. Although regressive behaviour might be existing in the society, when it is portrayed in a positive light in serials and movies, it helps in perpetuating such behaviour and also gives a stamp of approval on such behaviour.

actually indian movies unlike their hollywood counter parts use big ideals to theme out the movies than realism... this has been traditionally true though some aping of hollywood styles has eroded this theme.. So the movies are not regressive they are more a part of our culture... if we trying to change that in bid to explain non-regressive behavior.. it would create chaos... in the society... Look at how po*n has caused rise in brutal.. gangrapes... if you look at movies of 70s-80s the movies had rampant rape scenes - the hero always had a sister and her sole purpose in the movie was to get raped so her brother could avenge her... 😃... but there werent gangrapes in the society then... but look at delhi today and mumbai - there are brutal inhuman gangrapes.. so much for - what is the oppostie of regression? ... progress?

Well, dat was 70-80 times. But wats need to show regressive shows now? 8 out of 10 shows r regressive nowadays n those shows run longer than shows dat r modern.

THIS!!! This is bang on! These regressive soaps show abuse, both physical, emotional and psychological by the male lead towards the female, giving some flimsy excuse for why he is being such a scum bag. Then BAM!! The girl's suffering, and putting up with the crap from him and his family, being the pati vrata, sahen sheel nari means the dirt bag man changes from someone who would hit all the markers for being a psychopath to a guy who loves her!!!!

It is naive to think that tv and what we read, what we watch, especially CONSISTANTLY over a great period of time, doesn't effect our outlook, thinking and behaviour even without us realising it.

Look at the topic in another thread here...about suicide. Yes all the films and pics of pratyusha and her boyfriend show them as happy togather but how many soaps show the heroine coming out and making her problems public or telling her parents whats really going on. What is the constant brainwash from tv soaps? Put up with the abuse, if you love him, look after him, your love will finally CHANGE him!! And in him changing, suddenly his whole family who has till now given the topmost psychos in real life a run for their money, suddenly become saaff sudhra too!!!

People don't change like that. People don't chance coz you love them! The level of bull poo these soaps peddle everysingle day, day in day out. Just think of the mental conditioning of kids who are playing in the hall from the time they can sit by themselves...they are listening to and watching this everyday till they are 18 and married off.

In India many girls dream of an education and working but...yup marriage is a must! They dream of marriage, love, romance. Its all they are fed on tv and movies. At the same time tv feeds this crap. The number of forums here on IF where I have read horrified and disgusted,. Pst after post from girls, all excited about up coming track of torture and then the "REDEMPTION" For god's sake they even have a name for what they wait for!!! The guy suddenly changing and being sorry for what he is and did!!! As if that is what happens in real life!!! This poor actresss Pratyusha it seems did the same. Desperate to marry, have love, make the unworkable work, hoping that he will change, while he lived off her earnings, controlled her other relationships ie with friends and family, lived off her money and fleeced her of all her money ...where she waited for his "REDEMPTION"🤢

Indian soaps are filth of the worst kind and this level of filth has gone on for so long that whole generations have grown up thinking that hurting someone is love and even worse...its not even hurt. SOme indian girls don't even recognize what is emotional abuse! They think gaalis are the sum of emotional abuse.

Can be looked either ways.. but if you think why these serials wont be well accepted in foreign cultures you would realize its one way borrowing of ideas.. from real life into the serial. Now your point - these serials influence society - of course they do... You are way off on eve teasing.. I can tell you that, look at todays movies.. most of them dont have eve teasing.. you think there is no eve teasing.. that is not true... the modern society is growing in silos... and doesnt know that essentially the grass-roots behavior is the true nature of our society and possibly the middle class. Having said that rise in rampant gangrapes are purely due to the po*n stuff thats freely available.
