Are TV serials also responsible for regressive society? I mean one of d reasons nowadays. As we see, there r many regressive hindi tv serials wid regressive content 4m 40-50 years back. Even many bollywood actors including Shekhar Suman n Asha Parekh expressed their displeasure abt d regressive content on Indian television. Even SRK prefers english shows over hindi shows. TV serial makers show many regressive things where one of d main problem is dat they degrade women a lot including d heroines. Still, people watch such shows. Makers only care abt TRPs. Do u think such serials sud be banned? These TV serials r only getn worse day by day.

May be all we need is new story line. May be something that does not revolve round saas bahu and how one of them treats the other badly. We need more situational comedy sort of shows.

I don't understand why, Pakistani shows are a hit in India, Indians also watch South Korean TV shows.

Writing the same old stories with such regressive content is far more easier then anything else, the worst part is people don't generally have an option. It's the same old stories in 90% off Indian Tv soaps.

Is it just TRPs or lack of creativity?

There used to be good shows based on Indian literature, these arecreally pleasant to watch- Malgudi Days, stories based on Munshi Premchand's books..

There have been good shows like:-

It's all because of Audience...

Don't take me wrong...but in India majority of the audience is 35+...

And don't know why they never get irritated nor bored watching the same stuff again and again and again...

However a show starts...the end will be same for all...the same kitchen politics...

logic in shows is seriously not digestible for these audience category..weird isn't it ?

Every channel will air some shows for youth but their duration will be so short..But why ??? Sorry i'm talking about leading channels like SP,Colors,Life Ok only...

Because the youths who watches shows are so low...and most of them prefer to watch online...Of course it's internet generation..

these will result in falling TRPs and channels force the creators to change the plot and to divert the story to some saas bahu darama so that they will catch the eyeballs of these 35+ audience...

So we should decide who is responsible for all these...

The channel ? The creatives ? Or The Audience ??

Guys, my topic is abt these shows one of d main reasons of turning more regressive such as even educated people asks dowry, educated men want traditional wives who wearts only sarees n do only house work, jeans n shorts wearing girls r shown as wrong in d show n many such things. Plz comment acc. to dat on how these shows affects people.

TV serials are somewhat responsible for a regressive society. such serials which have the duty of educating the society or advertising that they educate the society are clearly not observing their duty.

Many serials show in their ads that what they are doing is a social work but it apparently misguides the society. Some serials makes us to believe in black magic and superstitions while some other preaches about the mahanta of saree clad self sacrificing heroine and bitches about the short dress wearing villian.

We have some tv serial forums here who support women-beating, domestic violence, manhandling among many other disgusting things n making jokes of dat along wid supporting all dat. Dis is all cuz of these regressive which needs to be badly banned in India before it gets more worse.
