Urdu dictionary

I actually speak Urdu, or the firangi combination of Urdu (the one interspered with English words), but I am often confused by what characters are saying in Khwaish (which is when I call my mom 😉). So, I was thinking that maybe we could make a sort of Urdu to English dictionary. Whenever you are confused, post the word, and someone who understands Urdu can give the meaning. I'll keep updating the post with the words and definitions, and this way, we will keep compiling the words, and maybe even learn a little bit of Urdu. I'll start:

martaba- rank (10/04- mere paas Naaz ko khush karne aur Azaan ka martaba pareh rekhne ke liye iske siwa aur koi raasta nahi hai)

usool-parast- principled (10/23- kitni usool-parast aur parsa bun rahi thi)

parsa- virtuous, righteous (10/23- kitni usool-parast aur parsa bun rahi th)

khuloos- sincerity (10/23- khuloos se diya hua kar tofa acha hi hota hai)

lubrace- full (10/30- "Mera din khushiyun se lubrace rehta tha")

hassas- sensitive (10/30- "mera humsadar bilkul waisa hi hai jaise apne kaha: dil-azeez, hasass, itna mohabbati...")

nisaar- sacrifice (10/30- "meri har khwaish, har tamana par nisaar rehta tha")

rangeeda: sorrowful

rahnuma- guide (11/13- mene tumhe apna rahnuma, razdaar samjha)

haamila- pregnant (11/14- haamilah aurat)

muttafiq- agree (11/14- abu aap bil kul theek keh rehe hai; mai is baat se mutaffiq ho)

zaheen- intelligent (11/15- bajjo ki beti apni khala par jayegi- khoobsuat, zaheen, aur taze-taraar)

taze-taraar- smart (11/15- bajjo ki beti apni khala par jayegi- khoobsuat, zaheen, aur taze-taraar)

qurbat- closeness (11/15- Hum jab milte hai to saari dooriyan qurbat mein badal jaati hai)

shiddat- passion (11/15- jis shiddat se maine tumhe mohabbat ki hai, shayad he mein phir kisi se kar pao)

mustaqbil- future (11/15- "beetey hue kal ko yag karti rahogi, to ane waala kal bahut taklif dega. Isliye behter hoga ke tum mustaqbil ke bare me socho, maazi ke bare mein nahi.")

maazi- past (11/15- "beetey hue kal ko yag karti rahogi, to ane waala kal bahut taklif dega. Isliye behter hoga ke tum mustaqbil ke bare me socho, maazi ke bare mein nahi.")

tafree- entertainment (11/15- tum sab yaha tafree karne aaye ho)

amli- practical (11/15- "Javani me liye hue faisle joshila hote hai, amli nahi")

purkashish- attractive (11/15- "purkashish awaaz")

But seriously Dhoop, after reading the translations for some of the words above like amli, lubraes etc, I clearly understand the meaning of the whole sentence now..

if anyone watching kzk...kyunki...kayamath or other indian serials if anyone have problem with sanskrit(hindu holy words) you can ask me

lol abt the hindi...yea many times i come across words i have no idea wat they mean...i usually use contest clues to figure it out 😆

wow what a great way to learn urdu i am all for it -- i draw meaning from context but some wrods i was way off== 👏 👏

hey thanks guys....i can understand urdu but some words i get stuck up with....and then when i dont understand that particular dialogue i get pissed off and miss some of the next dialogues 😆 😆 .......and urdu's such a nice language that i wouldnt mind learning a bit of it 😳
