@-Trishh- Do not confuse what i am saying here with eugenics. The idea of only letting supreme race or gene traits prosper and other races to perish is different. In my previous response i made this point clear. I agree finances are subjected to change however tell me about the stories when the scale tips from one end of spectrum to other in a short time. Financial standing is only one aspect of the puzzle. Education is definitely one piece of this puzzle. Willingness to act towards a greater cause i believe is a very large piece of this puzzle.

How much ever education you have, if you are one of those religious fanatics who think contraception is a sin then it beats the whole point of the discussion. Times are changing some religions have evolved to make amends to long standing rules to make way for what is relevant to this age. Some are stuck in the past with no sign of progress. Some simply don't care.

Religious fanaticism is a big issue, and yes some are stuck in time, but we are more progressive than ever!

In theory, it sounds all good. Letting only certain people procreate so that the child has the best upbringing possible. Like the perfect utopian society. We could have regulations like people have have when they want to adopt a child.

But here's the catch: how on Earth are we going to regulate this? Good luck trying to find a total unbiased medium to conduct this for every country. I could foresee a secret eugenics movement going on. And there are going to be LOTS of people protesting this. If convincing people for contraception is hard, think about trying to convince people for this.

I agree, it is not going to be easy to convince major section of the population to voluntarily stop from reproducing. Although i am not saying we ask them to stop having intercourse, but only to be more socially responsible when they are having children. Neither am i saying we should follow the Spartan or Chinese approach, we know how those stories went. But still there should be some way of putting a break and slowing down the growth rate.

So it is only wishful thinking with no acceptable way to accomplish it 😛
Wishing people would be more socially responsible.
Some are responsible and then some are not. Find the reason and you may have a cure

Actually there is a way to accomplish it. Who should be allowed to procreate may be a tricky question, but there are some obvious segments of the society who shouldn't be allowed to procreate. Broadly it can described as that segment who have no intention to give their child an education or even a childhood. All they are interested in is an extra pair of earning hands. These are the beggars, small time labourers, etc., who push their child from as young an age as 4 yrs to start earning, whether it is by begging or breaking bricks, doesn't matter. Easy way to stop it will be, pass a legislation that anyone who sends their kid to work and not to school will be considered as offenders under child labour, child abuse ,etc. laws, they will have all their kids taken away and the parents will be thrown in jail. Punish some of them, rest will be scared into obeying the law and sending their kids to school. If they see that they can't get any income out of their kid, I'm sure that they will not choose to have that many kids. And all this without any fear of repercussion or criticism from the rest of the world, as the world loves laws protecting child rights.

there is a law to that effect except that parents arent jailed for making their children work. Its only the employers who would be prosecuted. I agree with you that some onus should be there with the parents. The problem here is lack of awareness and education regarding birth control methods. getting them sterilised sounds a more practical way than expecting them to reliably use protection. The govt offers some incentives but could increase it further.
