There is a certain amount of curiosity when an actor/actress's child or sibling joins films. People want to see how they'll compare to their family. But after that initial curiosity it depends on the individual's talent. If the audience was that supportive of star kids Esha Deol, Fardeen Khan etc etc would still be around.

Audience is curious at first, but if the star kid lacks "charisma" audience does not watch them. On the other hand if the star kid is mediocre, but charismatic audience will watch.

If its a much loved star then the audience will try and support the kid like a fond uncle or something, but if the kid isnt up to scratch..then they cant last..
i think sonakshi, kajol, ranbir (esp) , kareena, hrithik (esp) farhan, aamir, (these come to mind at the moment, there may be more) all did very well because they had it in them...and how.!! the industry has benefited by these actors and would hv benefitted whether they were star kids or outsiders...

Yes they do. Like on this forum I have seen people tracking star kids from a very young age, commenting on who is fit to be a star and looking forward to their launch. Heck I have also seen people defend not even launched starkids as how they have somehow proved to be capable to be onscreen just based on the push their families give them. Starkids are ruled out when after they are launched and prove to be incompetent. While outsiders like TV actors, models or anyone else is mocked at till they prove competent to be on the big screen.
