Arjun:"wo mumma ...Wo...sigh..I'm-in-love-and-want-to-get-married".He said hurriedly nobody understood what he said.
Geet giggled at this Rano was trying to stop from smiling both men were confused.Mumma cought his hand in hers and blinked like giving him strength to say.She was always his favorite untill that incident which took him away from his family except his stubborn Shona who stood near him even if he pushed her away.
Darji:"putter dheere dheere aram se bolna haan".said like cajoling a baby(putter say slowly ).
Arjun:"Wo darji..papaji wo I'm in Love.Her name is arohi ahlluwaliya she stays in delhi with her family wo her dad...".
Before he could complete darji interupted"Ek minute" bringing the whole room to tension.Arjun was literraly sweating and shivering from fear.
Darji:"Putter you said she stays in delhi and her sir name is ahlluwaliya,by any chance she is D.I.G.'s grand daughter?"
Arjun:"ji?...Ji."
Papaji:"kya hua bauji? you know them?"
Darji:"Oye khote wo mere yaar allu ki poti hai"he said cheerfully.
Arjun was finally able to breath all were rejoicing Rano opened the sweet box she had with her and fed arjun first then darji took over feeding whole mansion even servents. but but but our innocent geet did not understand anything with little tears in her eyes she asked,đđ
geet:"Darji you have accepted her na as your bahu she is very good girl, I met her before. Please darji maan jayiye na wo ek dusre se bohot pyar karte hain".All burst out laughing at this arjun shook his head, like iska tho kuch nahi ho sakta.
Darji:"why are you crying putter I have agreed to this alliance,I have no problem with this but if you have then,.."he left sentence incomplete.
Geet:"nahi darji I love her, she is very nice"she gave sheepish smile to all.
Arjun:"Abhi tak aisi hi ho I don't know what maan is going to do with a dumbo like you".Geet pouted bechari not in to voilence na.
Darji announced that when they will got to delhi they will meet the ahlluwaliyas and fix the marriage.Next day the men left to delhi early morning with preparation that they will do roka of arohi too,so Rano also went along but was in HH.
At KM next morning maan is ready by early morning and parading his whole servant staff to do things faster and passing his time waiting for his mishty to come,he only know that today is his teeka i.e., groom's engagement (bechara don't know this is only men's function and geet won't come there, all his preparation to meet her went in vain).
Daarji with papaji and arjun entered with series of baskets and plates in toe behind them.Maan was amused seeing so many things coming in but his eyes were fixed on the dor waiting to see glimpse of geet.He was jerked back to reality by arjun who came beside him and said,
Arjun:"Waiting for shona?"maan nodded,"she din't come kisine bataya nahi tumhe brides don't meet their groom before marriage"maan looked at him confused.
Maan:"But I heard today is arohi's roka toh dulhe ke behen ke bina kaise?"he asked smirking.
Arjun poutingly:"That's what I said to her, mumma was ready she declined mumma has come she is in HH geet is in mumbai she thinks you will defo come to meet her if she is in delhi you will not follow any rituals so she has to do this.he said to maan complaining as if he said her to do this.Dadima is also going for arohi's roka with annie.Let's do some thing untill they finish her roka I can't go there and if I'll be here alone I"ll defo do something which will not be good".Maan had to nod his head.
Dadima:"Maan, Arjun come on let's start it's getting late we should got to Arohi's house too na?"She said eyeing teasingly at arjun,he shyed.
Maan sat on small flat wodden stool and the ritual started first daarji came,he did the arthi and put teeka(tilak) on his fore head fed him sweet and handed him beeltle leaf with coconut and some rupees as shagun.Maan was not taking it as it was money how can MSK take money from others.
Ram:"Maan this is shagun you have to take this"he said sternly he had to agree.
Then one by one papaji then arjun handed him their gifts after daarji made him wear a gold chain, papaji gave him finger ring and finally arjun gifted him watch.With this ceremny they handed him baskets of fruits one by one.Confused maan asked.
Maan:"Dad why are they giving me so many baskets of fruits?"
Ram felt embaessed in front of darji as his son doesn't know what is going on.
Daarji:"Putterji this is your engagement as teeka these are our love towards you these are shagun"
Maan:"But engagement means wearing rings on each other's fingers na than where is geet I should make her wear ring na?"
Over excited maan asked atleast one chance he could take na to meet geet.Maan was expectantly looking at daarji.To which daarji said,
Daarji:"These all are not in our family ritual beta, if you want you can do it but after marriage no seeing each other before marriage it will not be good" dissapointed maan simply nodded.
Maan started counting the things he was getting as gifts to pass his time it was amusing as well as bring to him(no geet bore toh hoga na) Five baskets full of five different fruits,one basket full of mangoes,one basket full of apple, next basket of orange next basket banana,lastly grapes. seven different thaals(big plates) of seven different types of sweets in it.Then all the mavas(dry fruits) in different bowls,raisins,cashews, walnuts, almonds etc.etc.,All were wrapped in transparent sheets with bows tied to it so that whatever is inside it's visible.
They asked maan to get up when he stood Arjun put garland around him gave him a thaal decorated and covered,it contains groom's shervani or dhoti with all the accessories he would use with tooth paste to perfume.Arjun then bent down to touch his feet.Startled maan.
Maan:"Arjun what are you doing?"
Arjun:"It's ritual maan let me do it"
Maan:"No may it be ritual or any thing you are my buddy mybest friend you can't do it"he said then hugged him.Daarji was overwhelmed to see this he had only heard about him from Ram or seen him on T.V but knowing in real he felt his princess will be in best hands from now.
All heard a crying sound then Rano entered with crying avi in her arms.Dadima sent annie and avi to HH before rituals as annie would feel bad looking at all these she was not ready to marry according to THEM.
