That's a total of 25 actresses who have won 3 or more Filmfare Awards in the last 61 years.
Actresses who have debuted post-2000 who are on the list are: Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Deepika Padukone - that's just 5, quite an achievement.
Of course there have been many controversies over the years...
I think Sridevi fans are most upset because during her peak the awards were not held for 2 years, which she likely would have won 2 more.
Tabu fans will be intrigued to know she is the only actress with 5 or more that has never won the coveted popular Best Actress award.
Priyanka Chopra is the only actress to have 5 wins in 5 competitive categories (which basically just excludes the random "special" awards that Filmfare has given out over the years). She is very likely to further this record in the future as she has started singing playback in her recent films, as well as turning producer this year, and not to mention a Lifetime Achievement in a few decades?
Vyjayanthimala famously refused to accept her Best Supporting Actress award for Devdas in 1955 because she felt she was the lead actress. It may surprise some that Filmfare actually went on to give her 2 more awards during her career.
The oldest actress to win the Best Actress award is Nutan who won at the age of 42. In comparison, in the male category, Amitabh Bachchan is the oldest winner at 67, which is a 25-year age gap. Hopefully someone like Sridevi or Madhuri Dixit will break the female record in the coming years. Or even Kajol who turns 42 this year. Or maybe 42 year old Aishwarya Rai will make a stronger return.
