I guess 85% of the public just know them on the basis of there onscrren performance,so do you think that the off screen persona of an actor affects his or her fan base??

And for people who will bring Salman in the argument (as the topic obviously demands so), there are thousand and thousand of supporters of Salman who love him for his continuous charity and helping nature..

I was so smitten by some actors because of their onscreen characters on those TV series but later when I watched their interviews and found out about them,it did make a huge difference.One example is Matt Bomer from White Collar TV Series. I watched 2 seasons without any knowledge of who he was. Then my curiosity led me to google him and boom, I have never been so disappointed...After that I was less interested to watch further seasons.

Yeah , i think it does affect. I don't find Varun too good onscreen but his off screen persona makes up for it. Some have the right balance like SRK and Salman. They are charming onscreen as well as off screen, I think that's what makes them such huge superstars.

Yeah i think it does. You need to be likeable, charming, have good confidence and just generally be an engaging kind of personality. Just acting talent alone won't make you a star.

Not to a large extent.

But it definitely does affect me.

The reason why I dont like certain celebs has more to do with their off-screen image. Although sometimes I simply dislike them when I dont get the hype around them 😆

Honestly, this forum did make me dislike quite a few celebs. 😆 But then, it never reflected on my movie viewing choices though. I might dislike a celeb's off screen persona, but if their movie is good enough, I'll end up appreciating the movie.

In general, I don't think it matters much. If a star's work is entertaining, people don't care about their off screen shiz. Some of the most loved and appreciated personalities in cinema have a very controversial off screen image. [LOL[
