I guess it depends on an individual. There are people who love the character and can never forget that character so they are fans of certain actors/actresses regardless of their behavior off the camera. I personally find that my support to a celebrity will diminish greatly if they bear a bad attitude off camera. Contrary to what I say, I am a fan of Salman Khan. But I never was until Dabangg. Prior to that he was just another one of celebs that took the wrong turn at Tahoe and just never found their way back but he did prove me wrong. Launching Being Human, reading his interviews, and meeting him personally changed my views on him considerably. Salman Khan's case for me is the outlier in my life but as an avid wrestling fan, I have come across wrestlers who I have been supporting since I was a child but they lost my support once I met them personally and noticed their attitudes.

All in all, one cannot be judged for being a fan of someone/something because it's up to the individual. You might see something in your favorite celeb that others do not so therefore it really depends on the individual's opinions and their thoughts.

Not really.. I am a fan of kangana and deepika still, despite hating their offscreen tamasha especially DP..

I think both on screen and off screen personas are important. These days when nothing can be hidden it is essential to project a good image. I personally get affected when the person does not have a good image offscreen..the thought keeps coming into my mind every time i watch him/her on screen..so however the person may be in real..it is damn important to at least create an illusion of goodness on and off screen

Yes, for me. I like SRK because of his off screen persona. He's witty, charming and seems like a really sweet person. That's what makes me a fan 😳 Ofc I've loved his films too, like KHNH and DDLJ. But I love many other films of other stars yet I'm not a fan 😆

Personally speaking, it does for me...I dont like actors whose off screen persona is offensive or some actor who has a bad record.
Like I was loving DP's acting onscreen, loved her in CE, Piku... but recently her offscreen tamasha has put me off majorly!
But for the general public it doesnt seem to matter. Otherwise why would a bullying criminal's movies be blockbusters?

Yep it does matter... Sonam is a bug example... Liked her before she decided to open her mouth and vomit poisonous darts...

I don't think it affects an actor's fan base much. I'm guessing that the majority of the general public (excluding the younger generations) don't really have access nor time to follow social media. They base their liking on how well an actor performs on screen. A lot of them are not even aware of the off screen drama that surrounds each film or each actor. Just take Sallu for example. The public still loves a man who is responsible for manslaughter.

I know a lot of people around me (including myself) lost interest in Ranbir Kapoor after Deepika exposed him on KWK. Not just that, but his relationship with Katrina, and the type of attitude he developed after getting with her put off a LOT of people I know.
