Sandhya Mridul is a bundle of energy and has that 'in-your-face' attitude. She talks to NT about her bindas style, donning a pair of dancing shoes and her love for sports
Sandhya Mridul has moved on--from being the first good bahu of small screen to shaking a leg in her bindas style in a reality show and doing glamourous roles in movies. The bold and sassy actress says she believes in taking on new challenges and this time she will be seen playing a conwoman and doing something she has never done before-wearing a bikini in front of the camera -- in her forthcoming film.
THE GLAMOUROUS WOMAN: Sandhya or Sandy as she is known, is looking even more stunning these days than she ever did on the small screen. And she gives the credit to her genes. She says, "I owe it all to my genes. Actually, people have to learn to distinguish between vulgarity and aesthetic beauty. When I was recently asked to do a beach scene wearing a bikini for the film Mr White Mr Black, I was apprehensive. But then because I could carry it off really well, it was not much of a problem." The actor will also be seen kickboxing in this movie.
A SPONTANEOUS PERSON: Sandhya comes across as a very spontaneous person. Ask her what made her say 'yes' to shedding her clothes and shooting in a bikini, and she quips, "I am basically a swimmer and wearing a two-piece does not bother me. Surely, wearing a bikini and posing before the camera did make me a little uncomfortable, but Arshad Warsi-- my co-actor, who is also a friend, made me comfortable."
DANCING SHOES: "The organisers of a reality dance show had approached me last season too, and I had turned it down saying I had two left feet. Ask me to do an impromptu dance and I will do it, but doing it before a large audience and judges, is really difficult," she says.
BOUNDLESS ENERGY: Sandy's energy is her USP. We wonder where she gets all this energy from and pat comes the reply, "Yes, I have boundless energy and I suppose, I have inherited it from my grandma. She visited Disneyland at the age of 80 and tried parasailing at 85."
ON RELATIONSHIPS: Sandhya says that she is single today, but she's been in and out of relationships thrice. She adds, "Unfortunately, the relationships didn't work out. The pain is over-- only traces remain, but the people I had been emotionally involved with, are best of my friends today." She says that her partner will never dictate terms to her.
SPORTS LOVER: This spirited gal, who hosted a cricket show during the Cricket World Cup 2003, says she is a sportswoman at heart and cannot miss a match, come what may. "While we were rehearsing for a reality show, the entire nation was stuck to the television watching the India Pakistan match. I could not bear it, so I just told them I had a shoot and barged into Konkona's house and together we enjoyed the match," she reveals.
