PROLOGUE
Kabir walked into his cabin, talking off his jacket and tossing it at the back of his chair he took a deep breath as he rolled the sleeves of his shirt. He sat on his chair resting his head onto the headrest. After a bone tiring sting operation on the illegal drugs smuggling and human trafficking racket he and Ms. Kashyap conducted in Muradabaad which went perfectly successful. The whole day they were on their feet for the same purpose and Ananya even hurt her shoulder and right arm while capturing the video by the spy cam in her bracelet. It was dangerous, no doubt... infact at one point of time Kabir and his plan was about to be revealed but somehow they finished it and very able to get the video of all the wrong acts performed there as well as they were able to rescue a women who was forced by her own family into all these filthy things.
They brought the women into KKN and talked to her live on his bulletin "Khaas Khabare Kabir Sharma ke Saath". he was well received and appreciated by every person in the office while the TRPs for the day touched the zeniths of the sky after 9 pm. Inside hearts of heart even he was feeling good as Kavita, the women they rescued was a very poor girl from the slums in villages nearby Delhi. Her brother sold her to the racket out of their greed for money. While it was a reason for him feeling good as it gave Kabir a feeling of being of some worth after helping such people, for Ananya it was an experience of a lifetime and also a chance to come face to face with the harsh realities of the cruel world. She was scared while they investigated the place, seeing the creepy people but then she came out brave enough when she put on her shoes of the
junior reporter of No. 1 channel KKN.
Although everyone in KKN knew that Kabir Sharma always breaks news in a way that keeps people shocked and surprised but awed at the same time, but still his colleagues and junior reporters used to marvel at his anchoring skills. He had such a magical touch in his voice and eyes along with his way to present the newa that hooked the viewers to their television sets.
But the last ten minutes has ruined his mood badly. It seemed that his heart leapt out of his chest and into his throat. He never knew he was capable of this kind of rage... Or rather jealousy would be the better word to say.
Why? Why is this happening god?'
This was the question, he was tired of. It actually has started haunting him, and then he tried to avoid it too, succeeded to some extent too but then failed miserably at last. But to imagine something he has just witnessed was beyond his worst nightmares. His chain of thoughts was broken by a knock on the door of his cabin.
"Come in." He said.
"Kabir sir your coffee." The peon Rahul peeked in. He placed the tray on his table and left.
He removed the lid from his black coffee mug to which he is used everyday after his bulletin but today the coffee didn't seem to soothe his tired nerves. He took out an Disprin tablet from his side drawer and gulped it down with the hot coffee to lessen the ache in his head. The coffee seemed much bitter today. His mind wandered back to her and every time he thought about her or talked to her. Even like an Editor and Chief of the channel or like some senior talking to a junior Reporter on some issue, he felt as if he is giving her a piece of him...his soul to her, such was the connection he felt with her.
Her refreshing sweet smile and complete balance of wit and intelligence with a hint of mischief made his heart pounce. It was such a rare combination to get. Her every smile made his day and her way of reporting, her passion for her profession and her love for her truth, to stay in direct connection with the raw truth for which she even denied to anchor news bulletins, made him feel more bonded to her. Although hr knew that it was again a part of his imagination...or say imaginations which were very common these days.
"So Ananya...this is Tarun haan, nice choice I must say." Baby, Ananya's colleague said.
"Vo toh hain, aakhir meri choice jo hain, Kyu Tarun" Ananya asked him teasingly.
"Toh shaadi ki date kabki fix hui hain" Trisha asked next.
"Abhi shadi ki date toh fix nhi hui par sagai next week hai aur tum sabko aana hain. Mujhe tum sabko Anamika di se bhi milana hai. Vo aaj hi London se aa rahi hain khas sagai ke liye." Ananya replied.
"Are tu nhi bulati toh bhi hum aate." They all said in union.
"Chale Ananya, airport bhi jaana hai." Tarun asked her picking up his cell. Ananya nodded and after hugging her friends and wishing them goodbyes, they left smiling.
Kabir got up from his chair and went towards the window to breathe some fresh air and what he saw again pierced his heart. There Ananya was in the parking with the man with whom he saw her talking to her colleagues about her engagement, laughing and smiling with him. She was leaning on the car bonnet while he stood in front of her... her hand was resting on his arm and she was laughing crazily. They looked so happy... engrossed in their conversation, oblivious to the pained pair of eyes that was watching them... Eyes which had gone red due to fury and pain... Only on hearing those words he left the place and rushed to his cabin. And now seeing these people like this...It was too much for him to bear. After a few minutes they drove away and he slammed the window furiously.
