Three months before:
"Malvika, are all the interns present in the conference room." Kabir asked as they moved towards the conference room. Today was the day when a new batch of junior reporters was going to join KKN as interns. And Kabir and Malvika, the administration head were going to address them.
"Yes Kabir, 4 interns and 2 senior Reporters were supposed to come and join today, All the interns are here but only 1 of the two senior reporters is present. Ananya Kashyap is the one left to come. I think we should wait for a few more minutes for her to arrive." Malvika said as they both were moving towards the conference room.
"Malvika... are we supposed to wait for the interns now. This is not like KKN and Kabir Sharma... I think the reporting time was at sharp 10:00 am and now it is near to 10:05." Kabir roared in a harsh tone as his mind raged on the late reporter. He was a time bound person... and punctuality was one of his topmost priorities.
"But Kabir she is BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from IIMC, Delhi and a fifth rank holder in the final exams. Infact her resume was terrific... it said she had an experience of 4 years in the channel NEWS 24/7" Malvika tried to explain him.
"Rules are not changed for anyone Malvika. Not here at least." He said in his harsh tone and entered the conference room. All the interns stood up and greeted them.
"Good morning interns, I am Kabir Sharma, Editor and Chief of KKN and this is Malvika Prasad, the admin head. I think first we should start with the introductions...after all we have to work together on from this very moment..." Everyone smiled at his words and the juniors one by one started to introduce themselves.
"Senior Reporter Richa Lakhani... BA in mass communication from IIMC, Delhi "
"Samar Pasvan from Xavier Institute of Communication, Mumbai."
"Baby Malhotra from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune"
"Aahil Malik from AJ Kidwai Mass Communication Research, Delhi"
"Trisha Mehra from AJ Kidwai Mass Communication Research as well"
The intros ended and Kabir addressed everyone with a speech encouraging all of them.
"I know you all are fresh reporters but I also know that you are in KKN and hence you all are the best... coz KKN has the best as always... Each one of you is expected to work with such passion... a dedication that you have never showed to anything else before. Truth is the foremost of all we all know... but if you have the art to make news you no one can beat you and you can be the best in the Media world... This corporate world needs the spicy taste of news rather than the raw truth and a reporter should know how to shape the truth to suit the taste on the present day viewers..." He finished with a confident and charismatic attitude that left each one them in awe...
"Okay so welcome to KKN and you all are expected to work with immense effort and dedication. I hope you all will come true on our expectations and won't let us down." he completed and all the interns agreed in union.
"Yes sir, and thank you very much." they all said in union.
Kabir left the room and Lo!...
He felt someone coming and bumping right into him. He pulled back to see a young lady in her mid twenties standing in front him. He looked at her, she was in a hurry, "I am sorry sir... I was in a hurry... It's something urgent..." She said in a single breath.
"May I know miss that why are you in a hurry...You can tell me..." Kabir asked in his usual rough tone with a hint of concern in it.
"Sir... I was on my way to office from Radial road no. 1 when I saw 2 men in their SUVs on Rajiv Chowk no.6 with a briefcase... They looked suspicious to me coz one was business tycoon Aditya Bajaj while other looked an ordinary middle class man... It was around 8.30 am but the area today wasn't seeming too crowded so I could see them... I parked my scooty behind their SUV and went to a nearby tea stall with a portable spy camera on my bag... Later when I saw the footage I saw them exchanging the briefcase with a bag containing some white packets..." she trailed off as she took out her cell from her bag. Kabir didn't need to hear more to understand what she wanted to say but he couldn't understand who the girl was... He had never seen her here before and that too in KKN... She looked like some skilled journalist...
"Hmm... I get you... but Miss you are..."
"Ananya Kashyap... Senior Reporter... have joined KKN today..."
"Oh so you are the late IIMC fifth rank holder as well as the "talented" and "experienced" senior reporter... And I see you have an eligible reason for that too so I think you should be excused for this time but mind it, not from next time. Welcome to KKN Ms. Kashyap... Kab... (Kabir Sharma here..)"
"Kabir Sharma... Editor and Chief of KKN... Who dosen't know you sir. I was an ardent reader of all your articles in the Delhi Kraanti regularly and also your blogs... And i am so happy that finally I have got to meet my role model." She completed his sentence as he shook her hands. He smiled embarassedly and shrugged.
"And yes sir and I will try not to be late and let down my seniors." She completed as she smiled.
"Malvika please make sure that cabin is showed to her and Ms. Kashyap as soon as you are settled come to my cabin with the footage and all the other info you have..." Kabir uttered as he moved in his cabin.
Ananya dressed in a simple blue denim teamed with a maroon sleeveless baggy top... a dangler as usual in her ear and a plait made out of her curly locks with a few strands wavering on her face, no make up but just her kohl lined eyes completed her appearance and made her look like a pure beauty in simplicity. The ID card dangling around her neck completed her proffessional look enhancing her personality. The peon Rahul showed her her cabin. It was a small one on the beside Kabir's cabin and had white painted walls and a chocolaty brown mahogany table in the centre with a black chair at the back. White curtains falling on the window and the glass door... It had a calm yet beautifully classy look... just what she loved. The walls weren't made of glass like that of other cabins of her seniors... She came out of her cabin and greeted her colleagues and junior before she made her way towards Kabir's cabin.
"May I come in Kabir sir?" She asked before entering.
On getting a nod she entered the cabin and wished him politely.
"Okay... get to work Ms. Kashyap... show me the footage first..." he said
"Yes sir... She handed him her mobile which had the footage and he coonected it to his laptop for a better view. They could have watched it in the PCR but Kabir knew this can come out to be a very controversial case if it comes to be true... so he preferred to see it personally. The next hour was spent while he watched the video for a couple of times and marking out the suspicious things and acts... The face of Aditya Bajaj was visible but of the man wasn't very nicely visible but his appearance told him to be coming from a very middle class background.
Ananya too pointed out some creepy facts and Kabir was impressed at her presence of mind. She was intelligent, he had no doubt about that now but her passion for her work was something you couldn't see in many people nowadays... Kabir gave her the cell phone back as he made a call to Khurana to tell him to go in the depths of the case and investigate without bringing the news out yet.
"And Ms. Kashyap... aap is case ki investigation apne tareeke se jaari rakhiye... I want updates from you on this case... anything you get to know... share it with me..." he uttered and she nodded.
"Yes sir... I will..." and she left his cabin...

It was lunch time but Kabir didn't feel like eating... He was about to leave the office to go out... maybe to his favorite place, the orphanage he loves to visit when his phone rang. Seeing to the caller's ID, his face flashed a sweet grin as he picked the call.
"So my baby has reached home... missing me..." he asked lovingly.
"Yes papa... Taarini aunty brought ne home... aap ghar kab aaoge papa..." she asked in her baby tone.
"Oh... papa will be coming soon... you have your lunch and don't do a lot of masti... papa ke ghar aane ke baad hum saath mein mil ke masti karenge... Taarini aunty ko zyada pareshaan nahi karna.. ok"
"OK papa... I will wait for you... and I will watch your news at 9 o' clock.
"Really... papa is excited to read his news then... kyuki meri baby meri news dekhegi... love you beta..."
"Love you too papa... muuuaaahhh" she said as she passed him a searing kiss on the phone which made Kabir chuckle...

It was around 2:30 at noon when Ananya entered the office... she had gone to cover an accident on the Raisina road with her friend cum camera man, sunny as soon as she had got the news from Tinu, her stringer. She was moving in her cabin when she saw Kabir smiling in his cabin. Curious she just peeked lightly through the glass doors from outside to see him sitting on his chair and talking on the phone. A smile formed on her lips too. The man whom she had seen in news articles, TV interviews and top of all daily saw in the 9 pm bulletin he read, "Khaas Khabare Kabir Sharma ke Saath"... the man whom she had ever seen smiling was only in pictures was laughing and smiling in flesh and blood in front of her.
Her role model... her inspiration in the media world... her hero for what he done 8 years ago... The reason she had chose this field of journalism... Only she knows how cold her feet and hands had gone when she bumped into him and then when she got to talk to him for the first time... very professionally though. But the fact was that her day in KKN started with him welcoming her and she was very happy at that. She hadn't shown her nervousness... Ananya Kashyap she was and knows how to cover it up in her confidence but still it had come to be a mammoth task while talking to him.
"Sir...May I come in" Ananya asked as she opened the door of Kabir's cabin slightly. Kabir nodded as he saw her believing she must have got some link to Aditya Bajaj case.
"Baby I will talk to you later.. don't forget to have your lunch and medicines..." he whispered and cut the call although the whisper reached her ears.
"Sir my stringer informed me that Aditya Bajaj has recently made many foreign trips in this month. He has got me some information regarding his trips. Here that are compiled in this file..." she said as she kept the file on the table.
"Ms. Kashyap you were working in the lunch break too?" he asked surprised.
"You are doing the same thing sir and my duties are my first priority. Thank you sir and please do let me know if you have some other duty for me." She said and left the cabin softly.
She started moving towards the cafeteria to have her lunch and also to meet her colleagues but her mind drifted back to what she heard a minute ago. Kabir was calling someone baby in a loving whisper and he had been smiling and looked very relaxed when he was talking on the phone when she saw him from out of his cabin. A completely opposite image of him... an antagonist to what she saw his attitude to be in the morning. At that time he looked like a strict taskmaster... A complete no nonsense man... and a few moments before he looked so happy and sweet... Who must be the person he called as baby... and reminded to have the meds... who is the lucky person he addressed so sweetly. As far she knew he wasn't married... and he was a bachelor maybe...or maybe he has a girlfriend... may be.." she thought... then it struck her... "why am I thinking so much about him... about his personal life... he can do whatever he wants..." Her chain of thoughts broke as she heard her name being called...
"Hey Ananya... Yaha aa na..." It was Richa, her childhood best friend calling her. She brushed her thoughts and moved ahead smilingly to join them for lunch.

It was around 4:00 in the evening when a familiar face wearing a black saree in her early thirties entered the door of KKN in sophisticated confident steps. Kabir was coming out of the PCR when he saw her.
"Shreya..." he uttered surprised, shocked and angry all combined to see he there
HOPE YOU ALL LIKE IT...
