@Amri: It's interesting how the balance works and how it caters to different tastes. To be completely honest, I didn't watch BD from the beginning because the promos made it look like a typical, desi romance show... full of unbridled passion and unexplained attraction. I thought to myself, I'll just watch the highlight episodes as I do with many shows in this genre. Only because I happened to be in India at the time and caught a few episodes did I realize that this was something more substantial that merited discussion and thought.

And I am not saying I never want them to let down their veneer, of course I do! But I am more than happy with the fact that they are not treating passion/lust/attraction like a force that one can't control, as they do in other shows. I like the idea of the barriers slowly coming down to allow the feelings in(which is what we are seeing) as opposed to the "passion" breaking the barriers, which I believe is unrealistic and does not make for convincing, long-term love. Their passion will overtake them, but only when their barriers are lowered... a process which is partly in their own hands. It's a love story between two mature and guarded individuals and I think they are bringing that out marvelously.

In short, as much as I love the cliches, I don't really miss them here because I feel we are getting something even better. The saree scene was damn hot but I didn't find it half as affecting as watching Abeer defending Meher in front all and sundry (including her own brother and dad) but being unable to drop his veneer in front of the dame herself. And I just love watching the way Meher's whole countenance softens when Abeer is genuine with her. I do believe the intensity will come, but at another stage of the story... and in the mean time, I am fully enjoying where we are now.

P.S. Hear, hear on the office, though!

[qoute=-Amri-] I do believe he's at transition point, way ahead of Meher- while she continues to put up her brave face, he's letting down all his defences, one by one. I hope he can breach hers too, soon![/quote]

Thanks Hiya!😳

For eg, Abeer admitting that he wants to get back together isn't really new. He's already done that once before. Him not admitting his desire to reconcile wasn't the reason they broke up.

Basically what I am trying to say, is that Abeer accepting he wants a second shot isn't the same as Meher willing to give it a second shot because they are starting from different places.

Abeer is emotional-- he doesn't really think about what he is doing or why he is doing it and somewhere he needs to learn some self evaluation before they can get somewhere. Abeer needs to first understand the issue that tore them apart in the first place. Abeer is a great guy but I don't think he recognizes that his actions have consequences that the other person can't just easily gloss over like he wants them to. Like he thinks he can throw anyone in water and then just give them brownies the next day to make it up-- but it doesn't always work like that.

Meher is the opposite-- she really thinks about what she does often to the detriment of her hearts desires. I don't think her admitting her romantic feelings towards Abeer or admitting the childish fantasy of reuniting would change how she approaches the relationship. She needs to see that something would be different this time. And its not going to be about seeing how loving and caring Abeer is-- she already knows all of that. She needs to see that they can work past the issue that tore them apart in the first place.

Yes, very true. Abeer just want to take the leap without thinking of the consequences whereas Meher has learnt her lesson and won't give him another chance without properly resolving the issues b/w them. As is the way it should be!

Lovely post😃

Like how Meher was blushing & smiling away when Abeer was doing her saree pleats. I agree but I think they it's so that he can pick up on Tunnu's harkate & then he's able to get him out of the mess tunnu's in..Yeah before he was angry by just having her around but now saari andar wali feelings bahar arahi hai😉 😆 even he cant control himself.

Haha, so true. Well said😊

So cute- I laughed aloud at "saari andar wali feelings bahar arahi hai"😆

Abt the cliches😆, yes they are necessary to make us shipper go nuts🤪 but i kind of like the present development too.. i feel its a bit soon for them to keep falling around each other, they are in midst of a lot of unsolved arguments and issues, the saree scene fits because they were both clamed by the supposed sorry note.. but after that they may be back to being themself, i dont want them going awkard around each other but small sweet developments would be amazing though

Actually i want more cliches in the "falling-phase" mehbeer in fb.. then again we need more fb for that😆

I adore them too, Swetha!

And yes, the placement and the timing of the scenes is vital. And I hope they do it in a leisurely way, giving us a lot of memorable scenes in the interim!

Oh, I didn't watch it in the beginning either. When I first saw the promos, I was like- here we go again!🥱 Another IPK redux. I wanted to avoid it, because I'd had enough of the manhandling of the female protagonist on that show in spite of the good chemistry b/w the lead characters. It always problematized the pairing for me and I stopped watching in between. I didn't want to follow another show where the male lead gets the liberty to do some pretty awful stuff in the name of love/hate story. So when I chanced upon a few epis- perhaps 21 or something, I was pretty surprised😃

Oh, that's a nice way of looking at it! They are mature at least in this aspect I guess, unlike other pairs who let their passion override all the emotional baggage and completely ignoring it! I concur with you on this point. Even i don't want them to acknowledge their attraction immediately and give in- but perhaps a scene where they introspect over this conflict b/w the head and the heart. Where they tell themselves that this same attraction put them in huge trouble years ago, and they assure themselves that it's not the same potent stuff it was before. Something on those lines😃

Saari scene- uff😳 I also loved the small moment yesterday when Abeer saves Suman and there's this tiny glance of appreciation given by Meher to him. It's then that she takes charge and says- "I have known this man for years and this does not surprise me" (about Shyam). That was a hootworthy moment. Details like these are what make the show so refreshing and unique.

P.S. Hear, hear on the office, though! It irks me to no end. The office setting is treated so lightly in other shows. They must show the protagonists as professional and hard-working people. I hope Abeer and Meher return to the office soon!
