absolutely right amrita.

in that age teachers were considered God and they had the right to decide whom to teach and what to teach unlike in kaliyug where teachers are paid employees and hence do not have that right

so drona could deny eklavya and karna for not being a kshatriya and parshuram could deny everyone else for being a kshatriya and ved vyas could give knowledge of vedas to sutas

caste was not the consideration for education then it was a Guru's choice whom to teach, and they definetly gave merit more importance than caste like ved vyas did for his students and Parshuram broke his own rule for Bheeshma

like today even then merit was important hence Karna could be King, Keechaka was a senapati. but the choice was Guru's not society's and not student's

similarly in the swayamvar choice was one and only draupadi's. Dhristadyumna clearly announces this at the start, that draupadi will choose amongst the winners of the competition who will be her husband

here it was explicitly decided choice will be draupadi's and not drupad's so drupad had no right to interfere. if she chose karna, drupad will have to accept him invitation or no invitation, similarly if she decided she wanted to marry arjuna who was disguised as a brahmin it was her choice.
not every woman got that choice, but swaymvara principle is simple girl chooses her own husband not her father.

As per manusmriti
an intermixed caste will remain so for 7 generations and not 2-3, and then too the intermixing caste will only become pure again, if all the 7 generations married the pure caste. for eg. for a suta descendent to become kshatriya again, all men for 7 generations have to continuously marry kshatirya women

wether it is mahabharata or any other source (puranas, harivamsa, itihasas) all clearly state that Karna was not the biological child of Adiratha, he was biological son of surya and adopted by Adiratha. this is very clear every where no confusion

and it is clearly explained in mahabharata by Karna himself in Udyoga Parva to Krishna and Bheeshma in Anushashana Parva to Yudhishtir, the child once adopted will belong to his adoptive father's caste not to his biological father's

hence Pandu and Dhritarashtra are adopted as Vichitravirya son's therefore Kshatriya, though their biological father was Ved Vyas

As per my knowledge Varna system is established so that person can chose his profession based on his characteristic. Brahmin always engaged in knowledge and worship whether it is vedic, medicine or warfare knowledge. They did not involve in killing of human being. Parshuram and Drona are exception. And Kshatriya are class of King, Administrator (minister), soldier etc.
Now Suta is inter-mixture of Brahmin mother and Kshatriya father. So because of DNA characteristics he was not allowed to participate in a war as a soldier/warrior as it involve killing. But they can choose as a charioteer to fulfill his Kshatriya desire of seeing battle.

I think at the time of MB children are forced to follow Varna system in choosing profession but not that much. Those who want to be soldier can train under Kripacharya gurukul. Also many other princes come to Drona ashram for higher education in warfare. He chose student based on merit. Karna was also student of Drona. Drona taught Brahmastra to deserving student like Arjun, Yudhistir and Bhima but when Karna asked for Brahmastra he rejected based on his caste. But his real intention is to make Arjun superior than other and he know Karn envy of Arjun. Later he taught Arjun Brahmshira after Drupad defeated by Pandava.

Everybody knows Karna is adopted by Adhirath. Even Duryodhan said in Kurushetra that he must be son of pure Kshatriya parents. Bhism did not allow in Karna because he did not want brothers kill each other. Also Bhism and Karna together will be too much for Pandava.

Kripacharya did not allow Karna in Rangbhoomi because he calculated Karna is matched to Arjun in archery and if Arjun lost it will be insult to Royal family.

Draupadi(kmg) rejected Karna because she did not want to go with lower caste. I think Karna was invited OR Swayamver is open for all but preference is given to King and Princes. After all King failed Karna stood up and he was not stopped by anybody untill Karna lift the Bow and stopped by Draupadi/ Dristdyun (whoever).

if we assume Suta is caste then Karna was Suta and if not then Karna is Sutaputra
Suta is a lower class Kshatriya not at all as lower as these shows and books interpret him..

Sutas had respect in society . and Keechak was Suta proves they were not deprived of war skill as well what i feel they were not regarded equal of royal and high caste kshatriyas thats why they couldnt get advanced war technology like knowledge of celestial weapons and all

i think its better to call Karna Sutaputra not Suta himself since he never took profession of charioteer and all.

i will participate in other debate in later time of show

I found the mention of Keechak and Sanjay as a great Suta, but I guess you people are missing Sut Utshrava.. This is the person who narrates the story of Mahabharat to Rishi Shaunak and other sages. (A person who narrates the story to highest clan Rishis can in no case be considered a low born). In fact if you read the stories (kathas) of any puja (like satyanaray, teej etc. ) it always starts with "Suta ji kehte hain" or Suta says (probably the same Suta Utshrava)
Sutas were never looked upon in the society (they were no where even the most distant cousin of Shudras).

Rest whatever Karna was denied was I guess more because of others personal dislike for him
