Ektanama! Akbar bana abla purush.. including prem's view- DT Nt Pg 25 - Page 25

I think some folks here are giving opinion on Jodha Jalal romance on the basis of pre leap happenings. If I were in your shoes and had not seen the steamy post leap episodes, I would have given the same verdict, the pre leap romance was definitely lacking in passion. But post leap episodes, like dancing in the rain, or taking a bath together or Laboni romance was right at the edge of what an 8 P.M prime time serial can show.

In my opinion what doomed this serial was 3 things-

1 Ekta foolishly overestimated the audience for Mughal e Azam. I don't know why no one told her the obvious. The audience for historical serials or movies is limited(mythology is separate), even smaller subset is those who wanted to watch Mughal history. But all these were already watching the show JA, there was no extra audience. In these viewers there developed deep seated resentment against the newcomers because of the abrupt manner of the leap.

2 The way Salim misbehavior was shown in the late Dec/early Jan episodes put his character beyond redemption. To add to it, the over the limit callousness and cruelty of step mom Ruqaiya's. A mother feeding her stepson opium is obviously going to revolt many viewers.

3 A pathetic choice for Salim. Neither good actor nor the look of royalty. He may be a good fit in some other serial but not here in Jodha Akbar.

Even after all this if the serial still managed to hang on to the top 10 ratings in the past month, it has only been because of the love the audience has for Rajat and Paridhi.

donjas, many things led to the show's downfall..and will not disagree with ones you mentioned but here i have put ekta's thinking cap..

-she wanted to cash on the movie since the movie was a hit she knew the subject will draw audience and its never been shown on tv before..it started off with a bang, onscreen and off screen..made big bucks for all involved..!

-then once the show is hit then ekta goes bonkers fear and insecurity kicks in how to maintain the money coming..introduce illogical masala tracks as the rule is entertainment! entertainment! entertainment! and if its coming at the cost of a historical figures who cares he is not alive to fight for his insults!

-and then around that time her other shows were a hit,,i would say midway of JA..as soon as the other shows started climbing up the ladder JA started its journey downward and the last nail in the coffin was hit when major leap was shown with selection of a below average actor as salim..the show hit rock bottom and all speculating it to end and ekta too did not wanted to carry on with it as she was not solely dependent on this on show for her finances...at the end its all game of money and no moral or ethical responsibility towards the greatest emperor of india!

i did not like her in any of the romantic scenes except for the 16th of december! for me a complete actress is one that can show all emotions effortlessly and never remind me that she is somebone else's wife and not the character!

fatma that too and also the script went kapoot! i think ekta puts her best team in action during the initial months but then the work is carried on with second set of team once the show is established and the first team is called if the show falters and similar situation happened here..ekta produced so many serials at the same time when JA was half way through that she had no intention of reviving trps once the juice was extracted and also the off screen fights between the actor director also led to bad taste and the show started to deteriorate!

Poor SV, use to baas shot perfect chahiye tha, aur kya kya hungama and scandal macha di uske upar ! Sexual harassment, ill treatment ... 🤢

Mandy, I can't stop laughing regarding showing Shagunbhai during SR.
Can you please remind me of Shaghunbhai's scene, I can't remember.

shagunni bai is the only face i remember in whole sr anyway you have to watch that scene i can't explain😆..agree! sv was a good director and how i wish he should have stayed longer..but the good part is akbar's torture in finally over! now at least he can peacefully rest in his grave..i love him and respect him from the bottom of my heart and will never forget that its his land that was gifted to someone on which the great golden temple is built..a secular ruler..a dream of every country to have one!

I can understand her lost of interest with the show but why constant degrading of Jalal.

Btw, I think she is repeating the same mistake with her other shows as viewers have started complaining on the tracks.

I am also very happy the show is soon ending. Jalal will stop turning in his grave. 😆

When free will watch that episode. I remember you told me we will have a splendid SR under Ekta supervision but you didn't warn me on Shanghubai. 😆
