Akbar is my favorite monarch but I admire MP greatly. He is all that the proud Rajput stands for. I would happily watch a show about MP.

Why then do I watch JA and not MP? It has little to do with my psychological mindset but the fact that MP show simply does not grip me like the earlier episodes of JA did. The reason for it is the casting. We can curse Ekta for many things but her casting was superb! from Rajat, Paridhi, Lavinya, Ashwini, hoshiyar khan, little rahim, Atgah, Adham, Sharif...she was spot on. Witness what happened to the show post leap with the casting of Salim and ANar.

So yes there are many of us who would be equally interested in a show about the Mughals as well as the counterview of say the Rajputs or the Marathas

coolpree, a very good answer! it mainly depends on how well a subject is presented and if the presentation falters then it will fail to grip the audience..in JA the show started off with their love story and we all knew what was coming but what gripped us all is the way the initial episodes went..i must say it was one of the finest team works i have ever seen in the history of indian television!

AK was literally carrying the show wit RT n PS on her shoulders. ...realistically speaking, wars are very expensive to shoot for a daily soap...from entirely an entrepreneur's pov, romance is the best bet as it has audiences swooning n is pretty economical to shoot...EK has a reputation for showing bold romance on prime time tv...

Maybe PS herself was ready(Dec 16 proves that) , but then there can be other issues once you are married...I totally understand that being a married woman myself...but as an audience, I felt really cheated when I would see the 2 feet hugs n aerial cheek pecks...so one should get into showbiz keeping one's restrictions n inhibitions in mind...

Another proof is that PS admitted she needed a BD for the SR...I mean, seriously?????...the truth is there for all to see, but only if we wish to...if RT had a problem, he wouldn't be so comfortable with Ruqu or Atifa...

Like I said elsewhere, I just hope PS puts down her inhibitions n restrictions well in advance before signing up for a new show in future...if the PH still wants to go ahead, then it's fine, I guess...coz it's not easy to change the face of a popular character midway...its a big big business risk...

That's it.

completely agree khushi! ekta has shown many bold scenes in her shows and who can forget the BALH sr! and in this one too she might be thinking in those lines but unfortunately she had to show interference of shagunibai...now who wants to see shagunibai's face in between sr scenes😆

Khushi and Sandhya, your views on the shows demise due to Paridhi's unwillingness to do intimate scenes though well presented are probably a minority view. If you read the comments on facebook and compare it with IF you feel you are watching two different shows. The fact is that with the huge target indian TV audience, Paridhi is hugely popular. They have no qualms about the fact that there is no steamy romance between the two. They love seeing the bond between JA as boring as it may seem to some on IF. Ekta usually plays to that audience ( she has to to survive). My gripe has been the needless butchering of historical figures to do this. She did not have to do that to show the bond between JA

I think as Donjas very logically presented , the reason for the demise of this show is probably the extreme negativity post hasan's death and the horrible leap with terrible casting which drove many viewers away that just never ever came back.

coolpree, along with our reasons we cannot deny yours as well! the script was definitely at fault and on top of that bad presentation!

The best evidence of scenario 1 are the pre-leap romantic scenes that Mandy calls half baked. There were even talks of PS quitting at many times. But then everything was smoothened out and the director who didn't want to do imperfect scenes quit as letting go of the lead at that stage would be a big blow to the show.

Secondly there were so many hints of young Salim resembling his abbujaan a lot. Ayan too resembled RT. i expected RT to play the dual role of Salim and Akbar. It would have been a comfortable option for all except the other lead who would have been completely overshadowed had RT played Salim too. Had RT played Salim and we had a prettier actress for Anarkali it would have been an altogether different story. The JA story would have slowly given way to the next generation romance and we wpuld be continuing the show in season 2.

The main reasons the show fell was the artificial romance at the apt time period ( the raindances look forced now) and the awful selection of Salim. Whoever was responsible for both have doomed the show.

sandhya, now i think that if RT was playing salim and if an older actor playing akbar then it would have been an ideal situation, and yes then the show would have gone into season 2 without any doubt provided they had chosen good actresses for playing anar and noor😉

Another thing is Akbar 4th wife was Jodha or 3rd wife - he cooily married at least 28 times again - last one was in 1592 or even beyond - and kept adding to harem as well.
here he started acting Rama the moment he got married to Jodha.. RUKS will get 1 hour per year and Salima - 30 minutes of ALONE time - otherwise 24x7 puppysa was with madamji.

And she used to speak out of turn in DEK/ Come on . This is Akbar's court. Even in Amer she must have been relegated to Anthapuram. I am talking of REEL.

when tribal king forced Akbar to marry his daughter, Akbar was known to only worry about Jodha.

Boss - What about RUKS and Salima and 29 rest ?

The serial depicted all galaxy revolving around begumsa and it has repelled me to such an extent that there is no coming back.

Otherwise idea of RAJPUT - MUGHAL love story is what I longed for , I wanted this love story to be so much true but on this level of degradation of AKbar and Mughals in general.

jaya, completely agree! only salim and shah jahan were one woman man, akbar was an alpha man who did what he desired..if he wanted to spend night with anyone it was the harem incharge chief queen that used to arrange for him..and it was ruk who did it..jodha was one of his khaas begums and one of his favorites but not the only favorite!

Why are people here associating the romance with physicality?
You can have apprehensions in doing such scenes...fine it can still be understood.

To show an epic love/romance you don't always want to see the leads going the physical way.
It can still be shown beautifully yet comrs across as intoxicating as ever.

There are so many examples for this.

Love.and chemistry is something where you can ooze out your sensuality just through your eyes.

A simple hug can be very passionate.

But it's not about what kind of romance we saw at the end it will always remain the qurstion of why the degradation of Akbar?

completely agree with you ...
N the representation of the leap was not well exhibited ...
Look if it's Jodha Akbar at one day we have Salim ...but the way they put all the things were ridiculous
Parents were not focusing on thier child but romancing with each other ..
Okay u guys can do it as its Ekta show ..but ignoring your child ...😡
I was highly disappointed the way they shown it ...n dealing of Salim through Akbar is just like principle of a school dealing with a student ...
