I didn't like the change in the name at all.
Here is the ending of the novel Bano which is more meaning ful and does not make Hassan insensitive as the show has depicted him in the last episodes . Someone who has read the book ,PMed me the novel.s end . I do not understand why was not Dastaan ended with Bano,s death and Hasan loosing his mental balance . But here the script write did injustice to Hassan,s character showing him indecive ,when he was not .
Regarding what Hassan feels about Bano after her return, I would say that Hassan was not in love with Rabia from the impression that I got from the book. Now that's where it gets sticky. He was attracted towards her - yes. Could it be accounted as lust - perhaps. But in his inner musings he did once thought guiltyly and dare I add pityingly, while interacting with Rabia, that she must think he's in love with her. He let her think that. Because he thought since he's getting married to her anyways, if she believes he's in love with her, there's no harm done. A bit of a jerk-act there. Because Rabia definitely deserved better than that. And the reason some of his scenes appear more bold with Rabia was because whenever he was with Rabia, he would feel like he was somehow betraying Bano, so to push it down he would get more closer to Rabia because at that point he truly believed that Bano had died years ago. He was, I suppose, compromising over Rabia. Then Bano's arrival leaves him feeling guilty, because according to him how dare he even think of anyone else when his Bano happened to be alive. Rabia is instantly wiped out of his mind. Because God has given him another chance with Bano. He was a shell of himself without Bano. He would not lose her again. He did not face her for three days because the thought that he had betrayed Bano with Rabia was leaving him filled with shame. Then Rabia arrived. Hassan Rabia confrontation took place where Rabia asked him, what was my fault? It seems like you've never really loved me. Hassan remained silent because that was the truth but he hadn't the courage to accept it.He's deathly scared of Bano finding out about him and Rabia. Then one day, not knowing that Bano is listening to them, he clearly states to Rabia that don't come into my room, do not be around me, I don't want Bano to find out about us. Rabia feels how every woman would feel and confronts him. She says that we can get married and take care of Bano. Hassan's like no Bano needs me.Hassan predicament at that point is like agay samandar peechay khaye. When Rabia asks him you don't really love me do you, Hassan lies. To appease to Rabia's better nature, he says that I love you but Bano is my zimedari. For him bano is his ishq but he doesn't want anybody else to find that out. Because he thinks things would be more difficult if everyone thinks that he's marrying Bano out of love so let them and Rabia presume that Bano is a responsibity, so they would at least let him marry her. He says, Bano needs help. Rabia can find anyone while Bano can't. Bano listens to all this and steps into the room. Upon encountering her Hassan and Rabia are both perplexed. Hassan now knows that he has royally screwed up when Bano took both there hands, joined them together and say, marry Rabia Hassan. She bleeds inside while saying, main tumhari zimedari toh nhi hon Hassan, mujhe apni zimedari mat banao. And goes to her room.Later that night Bano leaves Hassan's place, never to be found again. Hassan literally goes crazy. He's fighting with everyone, blaming himself, blaming his family, blaming Rabia. At that point Rabia realizes the heart wrenching truth that Hassan indeed has never loved her, it was always Bano. Because when he loses Bano the second time around, he also loses all his pretence of decorum and subtlety. He says Bano hamaysha say meri mohabbat hay, mera ishq hay, main nai usay fir say kho dia, main mar jaonga us k baghair. He openly asks Rabia for reassurances such as that Bano mujhe mil toh jayegi na, Bano mujhse shadi toh kray gi na? And Rabia while trying to pick her dignity smiles achingly that yes he would find her.Years pass with Hassan searching madly for Bano. But he does not find her. Rabia refuses to marry anyone else (which is a gesture by her that I frankly abhored) because she was ruining her life and making Hassan guilty. Sultana thinks that Hassan has ruined Rabia's life. Rasheeda kept pushing Hassan to marry Rabia to which Hassan retorts quite furiously. Rasheeda has a heart attack and emotionally blackmails Hassan to have a nikkah with Rabia. Rabia remains silent all that time (I didn't like her stance here too since she knew Hassan was pretty much getting blackmailed into marrying her)Now on the other hand, Bano kills the guy who tries rape her thinking him Basanta, right after the murder she encounters her child playing and laughing, she thinks Basanta is laughing at her, she lashes at him and jostling him, and accidentally strangles him to death. After she has calmed down, she sees people around her looking at her with fear and loathing. She asks everyone why isn't her child opening her eyes. They say you've murdered your own child. She refuses and becomes hysterical, trying to wake her child up. She says Hassan has lied to me, he said there was no Basanta in pakistan, I'll ask him that why did Hassan lie to me?She reaches Hassan place and sees a Hassan in dulha attire with Rabia alongside him, both getting married. Hassan races to her seeing her bloody. He reads the betrayal in her eyes. He looks at Rabia loathingly, because the day his Bano returns Rabia, in his mind, had once again ruined his chances with her. Hassan catches Bano as Bano falls and Bano dies in his arms, thinking of all the grief she's been through, the death of her child with her own hands, Hassan's betrayal. The author in the author note at the end of the book appear to claim that this is a true story with mild changes for privacy reasons. The author says that she visited Rabia and Hassan's house thirty years after Bano had died. With few pleasantries, she asks Rabia, is Bano still between you and Hassan to which Rabia replies blankly, she never went away. Then the author asked, did Hassan came to love you?Rabia says Hassan went semi-mad after Bano's death. He lost his job, everything. after a year or two he became somewhat functioning. He said it's better that Bano is dead now, atleast she has found peace. And about love, I'm old now, we both are, why would love matter after all these years. At the authors insistence Rabia recalls a bit bittersweetly, Hassan sahab had always respected me, but love, I don't think so. As a woman, all these years sometimes I would yearn for love, not respect, but I don't think Hassan ever really loved me, but yes he respected me. He even put Bano in her grave by himself, with his own hands. It has probably gotten too long and too boring, but I'd like to add that Bano was also madly in love with Hassan. He was her anchor while she was drowing with Basanta. So she never really moved passed the fact that Hassan had moved on. Her inferiority complex increased after that, seeing Rabia with Hassan and that how youthful and pretty Rabia was, she thought, silly me I could never compete with that, better leave with a smile while my dignity's still intact.
man..I cried after reading dis post..😭Especially on dat part where rabia says dat Hassan himself had put Bano in d grave😭Ppl say dat hassan's love for bano wasn't true... but it was n his love was really very deep & trueThere is so much depth in dis post (novel) for hassan's emotions & he loved Bano alot but dint wanted to accept cz he thought she diedAny ways, thnks for posting it..& novel's ending is better bcz she finally found peace
I liked the novel ending which is more on human side . when i watched Dastaan on YouTube , in the last episodes script writer has shown as if Hassan was confused , indecisive and does not want Rabia to loose . Just watch his reaction when Rabia telling him that Bano is coming and she will be bride . Novel can claim its the story of eternal love of Hassan Bano but not Dastaan . Hassan character was quite dicey .As for your bold lines , watch few scenes where you have your doubts . Why did not Hassan told Bano that he will only marry her whether she accepts him or not and in the beginning when she meets him ,she asks him twice that you will not leave me ? she was insecure . Hasan should have been strong to defy his own and telling Rabia also that he only loves Bano and she can leave . If Rabia was so sensible and dignified ,should have left him telling his mother that she will not marry hassan and accept Bano .Novel has shown the love of Hassan Bano not wavering .

They tagged it as a beautiful, timeless love story...The 23 episode run of Zindagi channel's show Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam starring the Khoobsoorat actor, Fawad Khan, and Sanam Baloch has landed into trouble. Following complaints from some viewers, who claimed that the content was inflammatory in nature and promoted Pakistan's narrative of Partition, BCCC (Broadcast Content Complaints Council) headed by Justice Mukul Mudgal, has issued a notice to Zindagi and summoned its executives for a hearing on May 22.The soap, which is now off air, is a love story in the backdrop of Partition based on author Razia Butt's book Banno. The show was found objectionable at various points" one, they say that it shows Partition only from Pakistan's point of view and showing the Indians as villains. Also, the grudge that viewers hold is that Sikhs and Hindus are portrayed as the perpetrators of atrocities on Muslims. The third point raised is that a few episodes also highlighted Indian Muslim League and MA Jinnah as heroes fighting the Congress against discrimination of Muslims in the country.Viewers who had religiously followed the show have nineteen to dozen to say about it. Here their side of the story.Be logical
The only reason I started watching the serial was because of Fawad Khan, but I soon realised that the serial was only showing one side of the story, which is through Pakistan's point of view. But then if you think of it logically, you cannot highlight India's point of view on a Pakistani show, it is as simple as that.Nishi Singh, yoga instructor, PanchkulaMixed feelings
I have liked most dramas on Zindagi channel; this was one show, which raised a mixed bag of reactions. It is always heart rending to listen or see anything on Partition. As we know by now, people on both the sides suffered, but it is not just to highlight just one side of the story, and show the other (Indians) as villains. I was touched to see how men take out anger on women in the show; again, this must have been true. Had we made a drama on the same theme, we would probably have been slightly partial towards our people!Roop Grewal, service
It's their viewpoint
I saw the serial because this is one theme that I keep reading on. Besides, it is based on a book, Banno, that intrigued me. I liked the soap to quite an extent. I understand the since it is a serial coming from across the border, they would strongly put forth their side of the story. So, let's just say it looks at Partition from the other side.Atharv Baluja, director
Good performance
Partition is a sensitive topic, and Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch did a great job on the show, though Fawad was made to sound like someone who is insensitive towards the Indian side. At the end of the day, it is a drama that comes from Zindagi channel, do you think they would justify us in any which way. At the same time, they have some equally good stories on their show.Vishnu Kanwar, homemaker
Sensitive issue
They started after two episodes, and I was surprised that it came so strongly as a story from just one side. The dialogues came across strongly, and Sikhs and Hindus came across as culprits. Though they tried to balance it towards the end, I am sure those who have heard stories from people who lived it, must have hurt their sentiments. Anyway, themes like these are pretty sensitive and it only depends on what you want to portray through it.Bhanwar Yajuvendra Singh, manager
Official take
According to an official statement, Zindagi is a channel which brings South-Asian content to the Indian audience. The channel has been widely appreciated by Indian audience since its launch. The serial Waqt Ne Kiya Haseen Sitam is a serial from Pakistan originally titled as Dastan, which depicts a beautiful love story in the background of Partition of India and Pakistan. Though the focus of the story is not the issue of Partition, it forms the backdrop of certain episodes. The Zindagi team has very carefully edited and packaged the entire series to suit Indian audience. This included removal of many scenes and a separate voice over at certain points to bring balance to the story. We have received a notice from the BCCC seeking our response to certain complaints received by them. We have responded to the notice and will also appear before BCCC to explain all steps taken by us to comply with the Self Regulatory Guidelines and the Program Code. Our intent is only to bring never seen quality entertainment content to Indian audience and we shall continue to strive in doing so in the most responsible manner.Originally posted by: .Hajmola.
