I think the biggest problem and challenge is lack of good scripts and characterization once these girls hit middle age. They are too old to play typical heroine but still too young to play mother of grown adults. So they disappear. I think that's been Madhuri and Sridevi's biggest challenge especially since they are not willing to just play a typical bhabi or didi.

Lack of scripts to suit them is the biggest obstacle for these actresses.Earlier the audience were accepting of a Hema dancing like a dream girl in typical BW fashion.That is not the fact now as viewers have matured as discriminatory audience.

the one I feel who really missed out was Waheeda Rehman ...who wanted to work but found no suitable scripts and finally came back in senior roles ...but has aged so gracefully ..would have enthralled if good roles were there for her as Nutan found in Bandini and others. In fact Nutan's second phase post marriage was the more successful of her career.

Ash got married in the middle of Jodhaa Akbar. There's also Kajol who's worked post marriage and still getting offers.

Hema kept getting work. And also success.

Her success did get dented but she wasn't wiped out like Jaya and others.
