Thread #3 (from Part 48)

Part 1:

She smiled... a smile that started in the heart and had an effect on all the organs of the body and created a warm fuzzy feeling in the hearts of all the people who witnessed it. That smile was probably the reason that people craved to be around her whether they are people from her mohalla or people in the hospital where she works or people she meets at the temple or shopkeepers where she does her purchases or just people in general. Such is the purity, innocence and love that oozes from her smile. This is probably also the reason that her adopted family dotes on her probably an insy-winsy bit more than their own biological daughter. Not that her Jiji resents it, more like recognizes it and encourages it.

The reason for her smile was the picture in front of her eyes a young new mom who had gone through a very critical c-section and almost left this world was holding the fruit of her labor in her hands for the first time and the little bundle of joy just seemed to recognize her the second she touched him. They both had been rescued from a horrible accident and rushed to the hospital. It was has a heart touching moment for any bystander and more so for the doctor who had fought to keep the baby in this world after its traumatic entry into the world. Khushi sighed and thanked her beloved Devi Maiyya for her blessings. Meet Dr.Khushi Kumari Gupta, newest resident neonatologist, of the mercy memorial hospital, New Delhi, India.

**************************************

And... THE MAN yelled... "AMAN!! Get in here, NOW!"..and everybody who heard him roar shivered and thanked their lucky stars that it was not them that was being summoned. Aman hurriedly walked back into the glass office that he had come out not less than 10 minutes ago. "Yes, Sir?" Aman enquired.

"Where the heck is the check book, Dammit ?" Aman sighed(very inaudibly) and repeated the answer he gives his boss every time he asks this question for the nth time. "In the first draw on your right hand side sir, probably under you ipad or any files that may have been put there?" THE MAN opened the draw with such force that the ipad screen almost cracked by bouncing off the walls of the draw. The impatient MAN pulled out things from the draw and chucked them on the desk till he found what he was looking for. Pulled it out and signed a check and handed it to Aman and said "Hand it to the hospital where Mohan's wife and son are admitted, fill it with the hospital charges for their care and add some more as donation to the hospital."

"Ok Sir" this thought Aman is the reason I bare with his boss's tempermental persona and tantrums. Because after working with his boss for a couple of months he had realized that no matter what his boss does, he will back you when it really matters but you have to first prove worthy of his thoughts. "Did you file the FIR against that person?" asked his boss interrupting Aman's thoughts. Aman fidgeted in his place not knowing how to tell his boss what he heard and also sort of knowing what his boss's reaction will be to what he is going to say.

"AMAN... I don't have all day Dammit!"

"Sir, the thing is the SP adviced not to file the FIR as the culprit has heavy political background and they might cause more trouble for Mohan's family."

"Aman, did the idiot drink and drive?" Asked his boss in a low slow and very cold tone and Aman knew when his boss talks in this tone it is more dangerous than the high pitched yelling. So instead of answering Aman just gulped and bobbed his head in a positive answer and kept bobbing it to affirm his answer.

"Did the b*****d not cause the accident that could have killed a mother and a child?" he asked in a tone lower and slower and deadly than his previous question and this time Aman bobbed his head till it was ready to roll off his shoulders.

"Appoint the best lawyers, buy the politicians that support him and put the b*****d behind bars, show your face only when it's done." With that said, he picked up his jacket and walked out of the office and closed the door with such force that Aman was amazed that all the glass windows did not shatter. Meet Arnav Singh Raizada, multi millionaire, CEO of the Raizada industries and estates, head quarters New Delhi, India.

Part 2:

He is the most intelligent criminal lawyer there is in Delhi and he prided himself on that fact. But unfortunately for him due this very reason he was not lucky enough to fall into easy money. Yes, he was allowed an allowance that gets deposited in his account every month. But it was not what he had in mind. His plan was to control the Raizada empires money.

He thought the gods had finally smiled upon him when he got to know that the girl he unknowingly saved from slipping on the temple stairs was Ms. Anjali Singh Raizada. He made sure that he was extra polite to her and his words were honey coated. He was hoping to get a way into the Raizada industries as their legal staff and from there he had a plan to make himself slowly control the money by getting into ASR's inner circle and by winning his trust.

But destiny had smiled upon him when he realized that the silly little girl he had saved and sweet talked had a serious crush on him. He used the knowledge to his advantage and that ended in their grand wedding with all the Raizadas doting on him and blessing him for a bright and long future. But his plans to become a part of the Raizada industries were cut short by his saale-saab the very next morning after their wedding.

As usual the breakfast was a family meal at the Raizada Mansion and all the ladies were fussing over the newest addition to the family. "Bas RaniSaheba, no more please." "little more Shyamji, I don't know if you will be able to have a proper lunch or not. So please have some more." Immediately his lawyer brain started working and he took this opportunity to make his first move, ASR was not at the table yet. "It's ok ranisaheba, I don't have any cases today, I didn't pile up on work as I wanted time for the wedding. May be I can go with saalesaab and help them in the legal department." He said keeping his voice casual but not too casual.

As soon as he made the comment Aakash looked up and most likely would have responded in the positive if not for the commanding voice that answered for him.

"It's ok Jeejaji, our legal staff is on top of things. Besides, your specialization is criminal law and what will we have in a corporate industrial environment that will interest you. Di and you can spend this time together as we know when you get back to work you might not get a break like this again." And everybody at the table nodded to this.

With that ASR had put him out of the Raizada industries gates, but he hadn't given up and was trying time and again without causing much suspicion. But other than that life was good.

But lady luck seemed to be on his side again as today he got a call from Aman to help them with a criminal case for one of their employees. He finally got what he was waiting for an entry in the treasury and now he will make sure that he becomes the treasurer of the empire his Saalesaab had built. He took his coat and walked out of his office with a smile on his lips and headed towards the hospital which housed the victims of the accident. Meet Mr.Shyam Manohar Jha, Delhi's most successful criminal lawyer, very intelligent, very cunning, dangerously sly, to own his Saalesaab's empire is his only aim in life... for now.

***********

She tried time and again to knock some sense into the brain of her baby sister. And she had failed time and again to do so. Khushi was born a selfless soul and would go to any extent to see others smile and she would happily put her comfort and well being aside to help others. As if that was not enough she had chosen to become a doctor and after that Khushi has been working like a slave. It was not possible for Khushi to ignore ANYBODY in need. But this was the limit the girl had been at work for 36 hrs straight and showed no signs of wanting to come home.

She remembered the day Khushi had come into her life. It was a rainy night and after dinner just when they were settling in for bed, a police officer had come and talked to her parents. Her mother had broken down and her father had consoled her mother a little and then had left with the officer hurriedly. Very very late into the night her father had returned with his shawl wrapped around some bundle in his arms to shield her from the rain.

When the shawl came off she had seen the most beautiful little girl, with very very sad eyes and the little angel was introduced as her baby sister. After feeding little Khushi some food they had all settled down to sleep for a bit before the next morning. Few minutes later she had heard some sobbing from the corner of the room and she had realized it was Khushi. She had just gone to the little shivering sobbing bundle and hugged her tight and cradled her in her lap. Khushi looked up to see her and then hiccupped and said "JJIJJI" and cried some more. And that very moment she had decided that she never ever wanted to see Khushi cry or be troubled or even mildly bothered about anything again. And any trouble would have to get past her first to touch her baby.

But now it was time to be the strict older sibling and drag the crazy girl home if she had to. With this resolution in mind she stepped into the hospital compound and walked straight towards the resident's rest area. Meet Dr. Payal Gupta, practicing psychiatrist, sensible, smart, strong and very protective of her family. She may not make much noise but when she speaks she rules in the Gupta household.

As soon as Payal knocked and entered the room the occupants looked at her and some recognized her and smiled and waved and Payal waved back. Just when Payal thought she will walk up to one of them and ask them about Khushi, her eyes fell on a figure who had put its head on the desk and was sleeping and drooling. Payal smirked and headed in the direction of the desk. When she reached there she just took the open water bottle in the sleeping person's hands, took some water and chucked it on the person's face.

"what.. check the bp, no take the pulse, no do cpr first..." the sleeping figure woke with a start and when things were clearer, "bloody Gupta sisters... they have decided to make my life hell." the person muttered and glared at Payal.

Payal ignored the comment and just said "Where is she?"

Before answering Payal, the person just looked around the room taking in the surroundings and said more loudly than necessary "ooh-hoo my head is aching I wish I could have some coffee." Immediately the room went into a flurry of activity and all the male figures hurried here and there to coffee machines and cream and milk counters. This went on till a hot steaming cup of coffee was thrust into the hands of the person who had wished for it by a young man. The young man left looking like he was the first man to walk on the moon after he was thanked with a smile for his efforts.

Payal just raised her eyebrows at the now fresh looking coffee savoring queen in front of her. And the queen just smirked and said "common we will drug her and take her home."

Payal needn't have come all this way as she was planning to do that herself as soon as she woke up from her beauty nap thought the queen. She had decided the dosage of the drug too, it would have knocked Khushi out completely for a day, to hell with oaths and consciences her best friend needed rest and if this was the way do make her rest then she would do it without out batting an eyelid. She would like to see anyone try to stop her. Meet Dr.Lavanya Kashyap, rich spoilt brat for everyone else but for Khushi, they were soul sisters so much so that Lavanya had decided to become a "stupid" doctor to be with Khushi, giving up her dream of majoring in fashion designing.

Part 3:

She was waiting for them to come home and hoping may be today they will come home at a decent hour. Waiting & hoping' it has been her job to wait & hope for things ever since she had been affected by the dreadful disease, she had to wait to learn to walk again, she had to wait for people to help her walk on a rough terrain.

When their parents left them making them orphans in this world she had to wait and hope for some sunshine and happiness to come back into their lives. She had seen her loving, protective brother turn into this bitter, cynical, hot tempered &over protective person that he was and she could do nothing but hope for a better life for him and wait for someone to show him that there was still good things in this world.

She was a weak hearted person and she was completely broken after the tragedy with her parents and it took her a long time to come back to normalcy. By then the damage was done her little lovable brother had turned into this person she did not recognize any more except for some incidents when he mellowed down to make her happy she would see a glimpse of her little brother.

She felt guilty, she felt even weaker as she realized that she had been so self absorbed that she had even forgotten to be there for her younger sibling, her baby. She didn't know what to do so she turned to the ultimate power for help. She turned to God to help her and her little brother.

She started fanatically spending time on spiritual activities probably more time than her grandmother spent but it gave her solace and it centered her wayward thoughts. She prayed to god to give her strength to be her brother's strength and not his weakness. He had done so much for her already she wanted to return the love in any way she could. So she made him the centre of her universe and God the protector of her universe.

Then came the biggest blessing in her life as if god had heard her prayers and sent him her way. He had saved her from falling down the stairs of the temple and when he had talked to her she felt like a new person. After that her life had become colorful and wonderful and filled with love... or so she thought. So she decided that her universe would have two suns, her brother and her husband though her brother shone a little bit brighter than the other.

After a few weeks of becoming his wife, she had started noticing little subtle things about him. Very tiny things like saying one thing to Mami and explaining the same thing in a different way to Nani. She ignored them in the beginning as she thought that he did that for their good. Through the years together with him she started noticing more things about him, his secretive ways, his mysterious trips, his sugar coated words and she realized that she had married a very very very intelligent man who could think on his feet and change is dialogue mid sentence. She gathered that knowledge and filed it away for use in future if there is a need. And now she waited for them to reach home. Meet MS.Anjali Shyam Jha, 15% share holder of the Raizada Industries, loving, caring, very observant, very intelligent. She thinks she is a weak person as she was always protected by others... but what will she be when she decides that she has to be strong for her loved ones.

*********************

He was tired but continued driving, just a little more and he will be home. It had been 2 weeks away from home but he didn't want to lose this assignment and hence he had convinced his family to let him go to the dense Nallamala forest in Southern India to take exclusive photos for an international magazine. It was his passion, photography and when he was asked to major in business to help his brother, he had thought long and hard.

Once he decided what he wanted to do he gathered the family and told them about his decision to major in photography. It was met with immediate resistance from the older Raizadas just like he expected. But he was holding his breath for the one person who was his role model, his own personal super hero, his enigmatic, magnetic older brother ASR to roar his decision.

He remembered how nervous he was as he waited for the ASR to look up at him and say something anything. He remembered how his own personal angel on this earth saw what he was waiting for and gently placed her had in his and lightly pressed it to reassure him and she spoke softly but firmly "Chotey, it is in his nature to see beauty in everything, it's a gift. Now he wants to share it with us, I for one would love to see this world through his eyes."

He remembered her words so clearly, and he had turned and looked at her in awe, like he said she was his own personal angel. He wished he could love her more for that but that seemed silly as he loved her to the extreme already. His Di, his best friend, she was also like his mother. A mother who was not preoccupied with make up or jewellery or anything else for that matter when he was around. She used to play with him for hours and help with school work and make sure he ate and slept well and fought with his teachers when they said he was not working hard enough, he remembered with a smile. He knew in his heart that he was given the best gift ever when she had come to stay with them. He also knew that he would go to any lengths to keep her smiling.

He also remembered how ASR had stood up after a minutes and immediately held undivided attention of the family and he spoke "You have to do this in the best school Aakash, nothing but the best. After you graduate you have to be the primary photographer for Raizada Industries and Raizada Fashions in particular, no arguments about that or else you have to study business. But however when you are free of engagements from RI you can take other assignments and fit them into your schedule. Deal??" The deal was given and accepted with much enthusiasm.

He knew that he had spoiled his brother's plans about his future. He knew his brother well, he would have planned his retirement too. But he knew only ASR could fit his request and also make him a part of what ASR wanted for him. His sharp as a razor brained brother was his hero, sorry, super hero. He had seen how a lanky teenager with little means had worked and built this empire. He also knew that his brother was a lonely person below that though exterior and wished his brother would find someone that would heal his soul.

Here is the secret that only he knew, on that fateful day if his brother had said "No, you have to study business." Then he would have studied business and done so with his best efforts as he could not and would not stray from his brothers wishes. Meet Mr.Aakash Singh Raizada, Professional photographer, 15% shareholder Raizada industries, winner of the best photo of the year award from World Photography Organization for three years in a row in three different categories (wildlife, underwater, plants).Very simple, very pure hearted and hard core romantic. Photography is his passion and his family is pride and strength.
