Part 4:
As soon as Payal and Lavanya stepped out of the room they spotted a tired Khushi heading in their direction. They started walking towards her, they were a few feet away from her when she happened to glance in their direction and immediately there was this wonderful glow in her tired eyes and she gave a little squeal and jumped and ran and pulled her jiji into a chocking hug and said
"JIJI, He is soo cute jiji... I was just thinking how nice it would be if you could see him and here you are.. he is so tiny but he is such a fighter, he doesn't even cry when we trouble him with all the tests.. I knew he would make it jiji but Dr.Sharma wasn't so sure.. he is safe now, I have to thank Devi maiyya for her love..." and it would have gone on and on, if Payal had not stopped her and said "Who Khushi?"
"Jiji, there is this new baby in the ward and he is premature by 5 weeks, his mom was in an very bad accident and they were brought her in critical condition.." she started dragging her jiji back in the direction that she had just come from towards the babies ward, the NICU to be specific.
Once Payal realized what Khushi was trying to do she dug her feet into the ground and said "Khushi you need to get home now, you need proper food and rest, if we are not home in the next half hour Bauji, Amma and Buaji are planning to visit you here."
"No not buaji, the children start crying as soon as she starts talking.." cried Khushi completely missing the point of Payal's threat.
"Home now" sighed Payal
"Hey don't forget Saritha's engagement tomorrow evening." said Lavanya who was quite till then.
"I will see you tomorrow morning my shift starts at 8:30" said Khushi
"No you will not" said a fuming Payal
"You will not step into this hospital until the day after tomorrow."
"But jiji..."
"Hey Khush, I will get one of the boys to cover for you tomorrow.. remember we decided to wear anarkali suits for the party... see you there.." Lavanya waved goodbye and headed towards the wards to start her rounds.
Khushi nodded in Lavanya's direction and turned to Payal and said my bag and stuff are in the break room.
"Khushi just wait here I will go and get your stuff, if I let you go I don't know when you will be back." saying that Payal started moving towards the break room.
Khushi looked at the reception area which was starting to get more and more cramped with patients, she found an empty chair near the glass entrance of the enormous hospital and settled in to wait for her jiji. I think I will have puri aloo for snack when I get home and a smaller snack of jelabi's before lunch, I will have mattar paneer and zzz... Khushi Kumari Gupta had dozed off in to a dreamless sleep.
Just as he was stepping in to the hospital his attention was completely captured by a beautiful aroma in the air, he turned to his right and found the person responsible for the pleasant welcome , as soon as his brain registered what his eyes had captured. His heart started thudding so loudly in his chest that he couldn't even hear the hustle and bustle of the world around him. He saw the delicate figure of the girl and held his breath. He saw her porcelain skin and had this urge to touch, caress and do many many more things to it. He took in her feminine curves that were being revealed to his eyes as her dupatta had slipped of her shoulder and was aroused to an extent that it hurt. He saw her neck that had curved as her head was lolling back and was completely accessible to his leacherous eyes and it made him want to mark that smooth expanse of her skin with his teeth.Then he lifted his eyes and his attention was caught by her slightly parted lips and he went insane with need.
He just stood there and looked at her as a whole and she looked like a sleeping angel. He decided on something and let out the breath he had held. "You are MINE." He said in a very low whisper and then his heartbeat started coming back to normal as if to say that "yes, she is." He smiled and started walking towards her.
The closer he got the closer he wanted to get to her. When he reached her he bent down so that his face was at level with hers and inhaled her scent to his heart's content. Then he looked down and moved his hand to touch her dupatta which had fallen off and was about to touch it.
"Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing?" asked the lady who was spitting fire and at him. He straightened up immediately and used his super fast brain and said "Her head was lolling to one side and it looked like she was slowly slipping off, so I was just trying to gently wake her up." with the most sincere tone he could muster up and put an innocent expression on his face.
The lady just nodded and dismissed him by moving in between him and this angel and proceeded to do something which he could guess as fix his angels dupatta.
He continued to linger there as he had decided to sweet talk her into giving some information on his angel. "I can help you take her where you need, her sleeping and all can be too much trouble for you alone." he proceeded to say in the same sugar coated voice.
The lady turned around sized him up with her eyes and said "No thanks I can handle it, now if you would please excuse us."
So, Shyam Manohar Jha was dismissed yet again and could do nothing but move away from there, but before moving he noticed one last thing on his angel, the hospital ID that hung around her delicate neck. So she worked here, that was enough for him to get all the information he needed about her.
Payal saw him leave and heaved a sigh, she did not become a psychiatrist for nothing she had this ability to read people and her instincts told her that he was not to be trusted. Actually her very first impression when she saw him bend towards Khushi was that he was a vile person, it had simmered down a little when he seemed to have a plausible explanation for it, but she trusted her instincts and they told her to NOT TRUST him.
Part 5:
Aakash stopped the car in front of RM and got down; he threw the keys for the driver to catch and take it from there and walked into his sanctuary. The door was open like he knew it would be as unwanted guests were stopped at the main gate itself by security and hence there was no need to lock the front door. As soon as he strolled in he saw that Di was getting the lunch table ready and she turned to see who had walked in.
Her pleasant face turned red and she started blinking her eyes a little too much. He knew this expression of his Di well, she was fighting an inner battle with herself. She was deciding whether she was more happy at seeing him or more angry at seeing him. When she stopped blinking and took in a deep breath and started walking towards him, he knew anger had won.
He just stood there with a silly grin on his face; he just loved it when his Di scolded him. "Aakash, you were supposed to be here LAST WEEK, what do you think of yourself, we were worried sick about you. Stop grinning MISTER. You are not allowed to go anywhere for the next 6 months ..no... no the next 12 months. You have to stay put in Delhi in front of our eyes, got that. STOP GRINNIG AAKASH."
Aakash grinned some more and reached her and hugged her and held on to her as she tried to push him away. She softened and hugged him back and her tears could not be stopped any more. Then he let her go and looked at her lovingly.
"Aakash we can't take this you go off to some jungle where there is no form of communication. On top of that the jungle is a known hiding place for extremists and you had told us you would be back in a week and show up after 2 weeks. It's not funny Aakash we were scared." she told him in between trying to wipe of her tears.
"Di , like you said there was no way for communication and we were in too deep to come back without a good shot of the tigers and we noticed one was very pregnant and hence decided it would be great if we could capture the little ones." he looked at her and could feel her heart melting at the mention of cubs "I couldn't resist Di, you have to see them they are just awesome."
"I would love to see them Aakash." She said brightening up a little "but you are still not leaving Delhi for a long time."
Aakash made a sad face that he knew she could not resist and said "Di, I solemnly swear that where ever I go next I will make sure to communicate with you every day but please don't ask me to stay in Delhi for that long."
She looked at him long and hard and said "we will see, but make sure this never happens again."
He smiled his best smile at her and gave her a brotherly bear hug and said "I promise Di."
Just then the door opened and in walked ASR, he stopped in his tracks and took in the scene in front of him. Nodded his head to acknowledge Aakash and proceeded to the living room.
As he reached there the family started gathering for lunch and as each member saw Aakash a new tantrum was thrown
"Aakash bitwa, you ares back!! Hum toh itene pareshan they aapke liye..you seez dark circles under eyez" was Mami's
"Aakash bitwa, hum is umar ma yeh sab nahi seh sakath hai" was Nani's
"Aakash bitwa, responsibility kab sekh loge?" was Mama's
Aakash was nervous not because of the tantrums being thrown around him but he was nervous about the silence that his brother was holding on to. He tried explaining the reason for his inability to keep his word and hoped that his brother had heard.
ASR just kept looking at the latest business week magazine, his expressions didn't reveal if he was even remotely listening to the conversation around him. When Mami started wailing a little louder, he threw the magazine in his hand on to the center table and stood up and started moving towards the dining area
"Di, hurry up, I have a meeting after lunch." He took a few more steps and stopped and turned slightly and said "Aakash, Aman has your schedule prepared for the next 8 months for RI, you will have no time for other assignments." and the judgment was delivered.
Aakash sighed and nodded in the affirmative. He knew something like this was coming and he was prepared for it. He didn't mind the punishment at all, actually he looked forward to it. He didn't have much time with his family after graduation and he wouldn't mind this break at all. May be he would find something beautiful in Delhi to capture his attention... unknown to him the fates had planned to put in his path something that would not only capture his attention but also hold it steady fast for a lifetime...
