Also agreeing/disagreeing with a video is fine!

But why are people questioning Deepika's intention and hypocrisy in all this!? How is this related! She is only the face, not writer or director!

So focus on video and not on Deepika /her past/ OR fact that video sucks because it has certain X Y Z person! -_-

This video has been trashed by many Indian women. We don't support such BS for men either. And it does nothing for our issues.

Also, one celeb talk and Oprah-esque session on NDTV doesn't fight depression. Neither was it the first time that mental health was discussed on national television.

A celebrity squeaking once in a while on an issue, around the release of her or his film, is not fighting for our issues.

And what issues do you face that deepika has to address in her video. why don't you let her know

And when did anyone say that she is the first one to speak about depression? And if mental health has been discussed on national tv before, no one should speak about it? we should ignore the problem, oh yeah that was on tv yesterday, we don't need to talk about it anymore? if you read what I said, I'm ashamed of the people who treat women poorly, you are the one bashing India where you assume I'm bashing the entire country and you are assuming that I am saying that every Indian treats a woman poorly. . India is not homogenous and never has tried to be or hopefully never will be homogenous. unlike many places in the world that do try to eliminate any dissenting opinion, idea or culture. And I am proud of the diversity of India, and proud that people speak their mind against stupidity.

And people are interpreting (according to me) sex outside of marriage in wrong way!

Sex outside marriage according to me is meant by having sex even when you arent married@ You know like OUTSIDE marriage is used that way! Its belived that sex can be done only when you are married but thats not the truth, one can have it outside marriage also!

If writer meant having sex being done by a lady even when she is married, he would have phrased it as SEX WHEN MARRIED or SEX AFTER MARRIAGE

Yes I live in India and have relatives also who work in rural areas as part of their jobs.

Therefore I know very well what happens here. And will react if someone says it is a horrible place or tries to generalise how badly women are treated here

I am not turning the conversation. YOU trashed an entire country just to defend a heroine.

Funny how you don't want the video or actress to be judged but are yourself judging an entire country.

Use of words like pride for Deepika fighting for an issue or "ashamed" at how women are being treated shows your contempt towards a country.

Don't think nobody would react if you bash the whole country!

I don't want any celeb to take issues. They can milk any cause for publicity as they wish. If I had any issue I would want an expert to take it up and not a filmi face mouthing scripted dialogues. Thank you. I don't look up to these guys for information or awareness. I look up to those who are actually fighting for a cause and not just eager to boost their rankings on popularity charts.

She said sex before marriage and sex outside marriage.

So distinction has been made by her in the video.

What is one supposed to make of "before" and "outside"?

It is alluding to adultery no matter what spin the apologists put.

Yes writers should be criticised. But it is the face of any film, video or ad that gets all bouquets and brickbats.

I havent seen the video, but I really applaud the initiative by Vogue and Deepika...Its very easy to disregard such efforts, but I would have supported the initiative whether any X, Y,Z had advocated the effort... To those who say celebs shouldnt take up dese issues, lemme tell you, had Amitabh Bachhan not taken up Polio initiative, it would not have been eradicated from our country. It is these celebs people look upto... Tomorrow if Salman Khan asks his fans to respect women or any social issue, they will listen to him...not everyone but atleast some of them will! And if celebs dont take up these issues, they will be only buried in the books or remain only between the few social activists and social workers...

The only purpose of such initiatives is to reach to the common man... And even if the video is not entirely correct, its intent is not wrong... It only tries to focus on women empowerment...And No, I dont support adultery by men or women... But it is also true that men are let of very easily while women are outcast from the society... Even pre-marital sex is a taboo here... Being a woman and living in India, I can associate with a lot of problems that women face in rural and urban areas, and believe me its not a cakewalk... You cant go alone late at night, you cant wear short clothes and travel in a public transport, you cant take up a job which asks you to stay till night etc etc... I really wish our stupid Govt could do something about these issues and that mothers could teach their sons to respect women! But i guess, its asking for too much🤔
