deepika was not guffawing at the aib event, she was laughing sheepishly. and regardless if she wants to laugh at dirty jokes vs have sex without being married that is her choice. Just the back lash against deepika proves what women face in India and thehypocrisy of bollywood fans. why is the backlash against deepika a woman so much more than the backlash against the people making the dirty jokes, arjun, ranveer, kjo, rajeev masand. or the director homi. what does ranveer get, oh he is such a cute hyper man, we love him. oh we love kjo and his pervie expressions,. 🤔
Victim card and India bashing?
Homi is also getting comments and tweets in criticism of this video. But Deepika is the face and narrator of the video therefore she is bound to get more response. Just as Amitabh Bachchan got for his video on UP. Nobody knew the makers but they saw the actor and heard him speak those lines and hence directed all response at him.
Funny how we call ads and films as Deepika's ad or Deepika's new film but start talking of makers and writers if there is criticism or controversy!
No it is not a gender bias issue as much as you are eager to bash India.
Had the same video made by men they would have been ripped apart and inducted into Hall of shame both in traditional media and social media, with primetime debates dedicated to their male chauvinism and editorials of even hard news journals dissing all males based on few males in one video.
I see daily how any politician, star, singer, policeman, lawyer etc who says anything even as personal opinion, is butchered by media and made to apologise, has petitions and cases against him.
Whereas Deepika has been let off lightly. All TV channels are not debating her video, all are not trashing her. Rather she is getting kid glove treatment given how some play victim card and try to look for context, positive message etc etc. No media or FB group keeps album of women's statements the way they collate for men.
And you talk of hypocrisy of India and what women face in India! What has Deepika faced? No a few spoofs or Twitter hashtags are not oppression!
It's not like people burnt her effigies or pelted stones at her house. People have the right to disagree and show their disapproval. Doing that doesn't mean, woman got targetted. Even many feminists themselves criticised this video.
So stop blaming India. Same India made Deepika a star.
