Folks,
All viewers of cinema, on the big screen or on TV, are familiar with triangles of the usual kind. That is, of 2 boys and a girl, or 2 girls and a boy, with all the ensuing complications and sound and fury. But I cannot remember this crucial triangle - here clearly slated to be the pivot on which the whole of Mahakumbh will turn - ever being that of a grandmother, a son and a grandson, with the first two fighting for the soul and the allegiance of the third. But that is what it is here, for this tale decidedly hatke.
Reams have already been written in this forum about this struggle between the unbending matriarch of the Brahma Nisht Panth and her pragmatic visionary (no, these are not always a contradiction in terms!) of a son for the heart and/or mind of Rudra. Their confrontation is sharpened, and its gripping power enhanced by the fact that both Daadi and Shivanand are played by exceptionally talented actors in top form.
We all have our different takes on the motives and the actions of the two adversaries and of their target. Without prejudice to any views at variance with mine, let me summarise my own take on this tug of war.
-Daadi: I called her a delightful ostrich in my last. I still stick to the noun, but I am no longer sure of the adjective.
Rigid convictions: She is undoubtedly a woman of high moral conviction and total dedication to her duty as she sees it. Jeevith hoon kyonki main kartavya nisht hoon..Jeevith rahi kyonki main Brahma Nisht hoon.. But right now it is her very strength of conviction, which is not open to argument, coupled with a rigid refusal to even contemplate the dangers the future might hold, that is making her an albatross round Shivanand's neck as he strives to marshal the sapta garudas and to ginger up the shreshtatam garuda, Rudra, to take the lead in the coming battle to protect the amrit.
For Daadi is like a cross between an Old Testament prophet and a stern Victorian martinet. Her motto seems to be It is my way or the highway! They were no softies, those Victorian matrons, and like them, Daadi has no qualms about rejecting a son - and no matter if she is seeing him after 24 long years - whose activities she is convinced (of course without bothering to talk to him and discuss his mission) have led to the 1989 attack on the Brahma Nisht Panth and the destruction of their family.
Unbending Panth pramukh: For Daadi, Shiva and his ideas were, and are, dangerous in the extreme, like the Ebola virus, and thus need to be contained. Also, for her, the Brahma Nisht Panth comes first and above all else, and she needs a committed lieutenant for the present, and a successor for the future, to preserve the Panth and its seva dharma.
This can be none other than Rudra, Mahakaal ka prasad. She is thus clear that she cannot permit Rudra to be persuaded by his father into joining him in his benighted and destructive activities. It is thus necessary for her to drive a wedge between Rudra and his father, so that, if it were to come down to a choice, why Rudra must choose his Daadi, and none else!
So she snubs Shivanand at every opportunity, in private before Rudra, or in public. At the Brahma Nisht Panth punarsthapana, she makes a cutting reference to Kuchh log amaratva ki baat karte hain.. going on to decry such self-centred swaarth and to set out her own take on amaratva achieved by sanskaars being passed on thru santati, and thru bhakti & seva. To crown it all, she calls on Rudra to blow the sacred conch, pointedly sidelining the natural choice, Shivanand. And though she does apply the tilak to Shiva's forehead, it did seem that when he bent to touch her feet, she did not bless him as she did Rudra and Sahadev immediately afterwards.
Earlier, at home, she cuts Shivanand off abruptly when he tries to explain that he is not in the wrong - Aap abhi bhi mujhe doshi maan rahi hain, jo galat hai - and that his efforts related to the amrit are meant for the public good - Aap jise swaarth samajh rahi hain, wo swaarth nahin paramarth hai . Hamare uddeshya kewal amrit... He is not allowed to go any further and state that he want to protect the amrit from evil forces, not to seize it for himself. (It is another matter that even Utkarsh seems to have caved in and adopted the standard issue TV serial convention at this point . It would have taken Shivanand barely 10 seconds to have completed his sentence as above, and make Rudra understand him as well. But no, he has to stand there , allowing himself to be choked off at the vital point😡).
Unfeeling mother: Worse, Daadi seems to presume that her son wants the amrit in order to achieve personal immortality. Paramaarthi banne se pehle nisswaarthi banna padta hai..Amrit hamara apna parivaar hai, amrit hamare Panth ki pratishtha hai.. Ek boond bacha hai, use chhod do. Usme Mahakumbh tal jayega! How can she believe that of her son if she at all knows him?
All this in front of Rudra. She tries to block any appeal by Shivanand to Rudra for his views, for she is not sure which way the cat will jump. But when Rudra sides with his Daadi, there is a smug smile of barely veiled triumph in her eyes, which seems to be saying Gotcha!
She does not even bother to ask Shivanand about how he had fared all these 24 years. Her heart bleeds for her grandson, who, in her eyes, has suffered enough for several janams in this one, but what of her own son? He clearly does not count, and as for anything bad that might have happened to him, why,she knows that it was all due to his swaarth and his ill-considered probing into sacred mysteries, and she need not concern herself about such well deserved divine retribution, even if it was implemented thru the Veshes!
So, if Shivanand has to win his shreshtatam garuda over to lead his Mission Save Amrit, he now has his work cut out for him, thanks to his obstinate, uninformed and uninformable (sic) roadblock of a mother.
Stately presence: But I must say that Daadi has presence. She might be a blinkered, obstinate, uninformed ostrich, but she is a commanding one. Look at her swanning in and out of the DM's Ganga Project meeting, a tiny, fragile figure, but dominating the whole scene effortlessly. Watch her as she almost casually, but convincingly, brushes aside the timid objection raised re: Shri Santh Panth representation. Daadi, with her bright, speaking eyes, her ultra erect carriage, and her aura of unquestionable authority, is a natural scene stealer.
I used to feel the same about PM Indira Gandhi. I was a junior officer in the Ministry of External Affairs in those days, and when she entered a conference room, one saw no one else! And she was not at all tall either. That is what is called presence, and Daadi has it in spades!
Shivanand: These days, it is he who stays with me long past 8:30 pm. He is the prototype of a misunderstood prophet-cum dauntless warrior, ready to stake everything, including himself and his loved ones, for the greatest of all causes, to save the world and its inhabitants from the clutches of a murderously greedy and destructive cabal. He is the stuff of which legendary heroes are made, for all that he will be fitted into a supporting role here.
Shivanand is as still and stoic as his son is excitable and prone to mood swings. He takes his mother's open snubs with patient calm, never failing to show the utmost respect for her regardless of how she responds. I never admired Shivanand more than when he told the confused Rudra, after listening to his facile remarks and looking at him with weary patience: Yeh yudh apnon aur parayon se bahut bada hai. .. Shatru kaun hai na hi tum jaante ho, aur na hi tum samajh paa rahe ho.., touched his dangerously obstinate mother's feet, and went away without another word, his back ramrod stiff as he ascended the stairs.
When his mother deliberately calls on Rudra, rather than on him, to blow the ceremonial conch, it must have felt like a slap on his face, and Shivanand's eyes reflect the inner sadness he feels. But he neither betrays these feelings, nor is there even an iota of resentment towards Rudra or Daadi in his demeanour. When Rudra turns and looks at his father, Shivanand gives an almost imperceptible nod for Rudra to go ahead , and there is a half smile on his lips.
The perfect shishya: With his guru, Prof. APG Rao, Shivanand is the shreshtatam shishya. He is respectful in the extreme - Shishya ko dekh kar koyi utha nahin karta, shishya guru ke charanon mein jhukta hai - but in the most natural manner possible. Eager to be told what has happened - Aapki tayyaari kaise chal rahi hai? Pata hai ki aap mission ke silsile mein hi yahan aaye hain(but how? There are many things about Shivanand that we still do not know of, including his line of communication to Prof. Rao, who has somehow called on him for his help), kisi na kisi nateeje par pahunche honge! Eager to learn what he has to do to fulfil his guru's mission and his own.
Thanks to Prof. Rao, Shivanand is now aware that the breadth and the scale of this international conspiracy are far beyond what he had earlier imagined. And that their target is not just the amrit, but world domination on the grand scale. This will only make him far more determined to do all that is humanly possible and then some more, anything and everything, to block these evil forces. As Prof. Rao puts it, Kisi bhi soorat mein inhein kamyaab hone se rokhna hoga..
What is Rudra for Shivanand?: This imperative must and will colour all of Shivanand's actions and reactions from now till the end game. Arshi had posed the question, Is Rudra the apple of his (father's) eye or (only) a man who is mission critical... ? This would be my response.
He is both. Witness the tenderness with which Shiva looks at the prizewinning photo of Rudra, and then reminisces about that event with such joy and pride. He is no aloof, dictatorial Victorian father, is Shivanand, he is a 21st century touchy-feely dad, even though he was torn away from active parenting in 1989 itself.
But of course Shivanand is also a general in the war against evil to protect the amrit, and for a general, it is winning the war that comes first. So for him, Rudra is to be the true destroyer of evil in the titanic battle that lies ahead, and it is this that he values the most about Rudra. It is but natural.
Shiva has not given up on Rudra because he ditched him for Daadi and spouted half-baked justifications. This is not just because he cannot afford to do so. It is rather because his pride in his son is immense - see how his eyes light up when he speaks of him to his guru! - and he is confident that soon, very soon, Rudra will see the light and awaken to his unique responsibilities, because he has to, it is in his niyati evam prarabdha. For Shivanand too is a man of deep, if unostentatious faith, a faith which is all the stronger for having been tested on the touchstone of science and found to be sound.
A man for all seasons: Shivanand is truly a man for all seasons, and he never panics, no matter how desperate the situation might be. This is the hallmark of a real leader. Every blow, emotional, psychological, and physical, is taken on the chin and absorbed, without the depth of courage and conviction in his eyes being diminished in the slightest. Which other man could have survived all that he suffered during those 24 years and emerged not just undiminished, but the stronger for the torment?
Shivanand has immense internal resources, spiritual and mental, and they instil in him a rock hard conviction in his own destiny that simply will not let him give way to despair even in the direst circumstances. He is going to need all of this and more as he struggles to keep his son, who is the antithesis of his father in all these respects, on the right path and to save him from self-destructive despair and the consequent loss of focus.
Contrast this with Balivesh, strutting and posturing when the going is good, but running around like a headless chicken the minute things start going wrong, foaming at the mouth, screaming curses in impotent rage, and swearing vengeance on the Brahma Nisht Panth triad. He makes Greyerson seem a paragon of good sense!
NB: I do not know why the director chose to inflict that 2 minutes and 16 seconds tandav by Balivesh on the unsuspecting viewers. He is no Uday Shankar, is our Balivesh😉, and to have to watch him capering about, with a mild jelly belly quivering in tandem, and unsightly close ups every 10 seconds, was cruel and unwarranted punishment😉! As Arshi noted with brilliant punning: A tandav in front of Shiva? Shiva's tandav is to destroy all evil in the world, and here we have evil doing tandav as he wants to destroy Shiva...
Rational commitment: Shivanand has been accused of being arrogant and suffering from a superiority complex. Nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is that he is superior, and what he says is a simple statement of fact, that his family, with a long line of garudas down the ages, are the chosen, with the duty of protecting the amrit at any cost. That Rudra is the sarvashresth garuda. He is, so why would Shivanand not tell Rudra so? He needs to know it. Why should Shivanand pretend that Rudra is any less than he is? As Sherlock Holmes used to say, undue modesty is not a virtue.
And how would it help, as far as readying Rudra for his mission is concerned, to keep it from him that he is the best of the lot, and should thus hone his powers and use them fully?
The other accusation against Shivanand is that he concentrates only on the ends and not on the means, and is unduly obsessed with winning . But in such a titanic struggle for the soul and the very existence of humanity, the garudas have to win, and it they lose, they are failures.Of course Shivanand has to be obsessed with the end result, for if he and the other garudas fail, humanity is doomed. What point would there be in his focussing only on the means, or the action, and then failing disastrously?
Profound sense of responsibility: Moreover, Shivanand cannot be faulted on the responsibility test. He understands that with such special powers as have been bestowed on them, comes great responsibility, and he does not shy away from it no matter how great the danger to himself. So he digs deep, ascertains the nature of the threat and plans to counter it. You can hardly compare him with a rough diamond like Rudra or uninformed ostriches like Daadi and Daada.
If everyone was like Daadi and now Rudra too, the amrit would have long been grabbed by the 'Veshes, and Daadi would be sitting twiddling her thumbs next to a dried up Saraswati Kund. Or most likely, she would have been evicted from the house and the Kund taken over by the Sri Santh Panth.
Rudra: Mahakaal ka prasad. It is going to be a while before our favourite young man lives up to this billing. And here I am talking of the character, not the actor. My heart went out to Gautam, stuck with this weepy, self-pitying Devdas-in-the-making. He does his best, especially in that last scene with a guilt-ridden Maya off to do prayaschit, but the script cramps him badly and boxes him into this straightjacket.
For now, Rudra looks mostly blank, confused and depressed, and occasionally teary-eyed and full of self-pity: Sab kucch khali sa lagta hai...Hum jo bhi karein..yeh khalipan bharta hi nahin..In this bout of melancholia, he is bolstered by his daadi, who assures him that he has suffered enough for several lives in this single janam, even if she also tells him never to accept defeat. Maimuyi would have jump started him and got him to actually do something instead of moping like this.
This might sound harsh, but I think way too much is being made of Rudra's losses. He has lost many of his loved ones, and brutally, but he is hardly unique in this respect, and not many such sufferers get back at least some of those they had lost, as Rudra has. In fact, no sooner has one support disappeared, than another arrives. He has lost Maimuyi and Udiya Baba, true, and in a very cruel manner. But now he has his Daadi and his Baba back with him, and his latest obsession, Maya, too has only left him temporarily. It is not as though he has been orphaned anew!
Nor is it that he was starved for affection and caring in his growing years, even after the loss of his family. He had Maimuyi's all enveloping, non-judgmental and abundant, tactile love - the hugs, the caresses, the wiping of his hands on her pallu, the umbilical cord-like bond between them - her fierce protectiveness towards her bachuwa. She was more loving and caring than any two average mothers put together, and far wiser too.
Then he had Udiya Baba's wise, gentle mentoring, and his being always there for Rudra when he needed him. Was that not love?
Udiya Baba + Maimuyi were there with Rudra for 12 years, and then Maimuyi was there with him for another 12. How does this constitute emotional deprivation? So many children are orphaned in their teens, and have to look after siblings, work and earn for them all. At times under horrible circumstances. Rudra has no such responsibilities or problems, so let us not adopt his I am shraapit line and started mourning with this 28 year old. He has no call to do that, and neither do we!
Pull up your socks, champ!: As the shresthatam garuda, which he has been told he is, Rudra has to do better than mope around and cling to his daadi's pallu. Instead, he should use the brains he undoubtedly has to think thru the things he knows and the ones that still elude him and confuse him, and then decide on a course of action. So far he has shown no signs of doing any such thing.
He has not even made any move to discuss anything with his father, nor does he seem to care about what happened to his beloved Baba in all these 24 years, and the ceaseless yaatana he had suffered. He seems to have zero interest in the apocalyptic picture his father is painting, nor does he seem to understand that if such a scenario did materialise, there would be nothing left of his daadi's precious seva left either. Instead, he seems all too ready to to swallow his Daadi's pabulums, have her utter soothing words about how Maya will come back to him, and follow her around like Mary's little lamb.
When he is not wandering about like a lost soul, Rudra displays a disturbing propensity to take the easy way out. Just take that scene on Monday last with his Baba and Daadi. Even after all that his Baba had explained to him when they first met , he now gazes at him uncomprehendingly, and says "Daadi sahi hai , Baba. Humein parayon ko chot pahunchane aur apnon ko marham lagaane ke beech chunna hai, to humein marham hi chunna chahiye"He has NO grasp of what is at stake even after he has been told about it. No wonder poor Shivanand looked shell-shocked, undoubtedly wondering how on earth he is going to transform this raw recruit into the shreshtatam garuda!
Inconsistent behaviour: And how does this sudden switch to ahimsavaad square with the threats Rudra was issuing the day before, of dire vengeance against the Veshes for what they had done to his family in 1989, and that too to their face? Or with his having pummelled Animesh to death out of pure revenge? It sounded as if the script writer had taken a day off and the substitute had not seen the previous week's episodes! 😉
If folks like Rudra were to be recruited into the army, heaven help the country! He would sit there worrying about his precious loved ones till the enemy came right in and killed them all anyway. That is why, though it is an awful thing to wish for, I would have liked the 'Veshes to have attacked the Brahma Nisht Panth once again, as Balivesh wanted to, and we could have seen how daadi's amar seva was to be continued if evil was allowed to flourish unchecked.
Romance: a tad premature: As for Rudra's now up front love, or at least deep caring, for Maya, the transition, given Rudra's aggressive stance earlier, is somewhat abrupt and unconvincing. Just because he is now convinced that she is honest and is in no way in league with her family, and because he now feels responsible for her, is no reason for him to be mooning all over the place like a Majnun, and gazing teary-eyed after her. A more determined and practical young man would have tried to blackmail her - perhaps by giving his own kasam? - into showing a modicum of good sense and not going away God knows where and exposing herself to being kidnapped all over again. If that happens - and I am sure Balivesh has not yet run out of goons! 😉- what is she going to do, and Rudra either for that matter?
Naanu: He quite took my breath away with his pronouncement that Animesh would be resurrected by the amrit once their 24 saal ka tap bore fruit, Punah jeevit hoga, maut ko uska shareer chhodna hoga.. A frightful prospect if ever there was one! Is baar amrit bhi aayega, wo bhi aayenge (ie the nagas, for whose advent I am waiting as eagerly as Naanu!).
I suppose this revolutionary new take on the properties of amrit might have startled even Devaraj Indra,😉 but as for Naanu, all it demonstrated was that even such a sharp and supple brain can be derailed by love for a son. I had in fact thought that the ruthless Naanu, so totally focussed on swayam ke liye deerghaayu, might write off Animesh's death as a good riddance to a weak link in his set up. I was wrong. As Naanu's reaction, and the raw agony in Balivesh's face and eyes as the doctor pulls the sheet over the dead Animesh's face show, even the worst villains have a soft corner in what passes for their heart.
Naanu came back into his own at the end of the tandav scene, when he reins in a raging Balivesh and prevents him from launching an immediate revenge attack on the Brahma Nisht Panth. Pratishodh se kuch prapt nahin hoga..Yudh sirf aavesh se nahin jeete jate.. saam, daan, dand, bhedh se hi manovaanchit parinaam prapt hota hai..Krodh ko pee jao till the day we get the amrit, and then attack and destroy the Brahma Nisht Panth!
A black-hearted villain, but one with plenty of grey matter!
Katherine: the glamorous garuda: I don't think she is Greyerson's mole, rather the other way around. This was in fact the option I had favoured in my Confrontations and Revelations post.
Whether this is so already, or is something that will happen soon, depends on whether she already knows that she is a garuda and what this means for her. But as a garuda, and she cannot, by definition, be siding with the cardinal's gang. You can have 1 or even 2 weak garudas, but not a traitor to the cause.
One could argue that she was clobbering Balivesh's men despite working for Greyerson, and then pretending to be a damsel in distress in front of the susceptible Charles, in order to gain the confidence of Rudra, Charles & Co. But she hardly needs to do that, for she has already helped Maya escape at great risk to herself (for Balivesh and his goons do not know that she is with Greyerson, apparently or not) and Thappadiya Mai would vouch for her.
This said, I must say that it is good to have a glamorous woman garuda. And one with the chinna in such a sensuous spot😉!
Charles: Less of an irritant: I am beginning to get used to Charles, his wacky ways, and his genuine fondness for Rudra, for whom he will be a much needed morale booster. His bickerings with Tiwari are now acquiring a comfortingly familiar quality, and they seem to be developing an edgy kind of tolerance for each other. Their contrasting definitions of destiny the other day were interesting, but the best of all in that scene was Charles talking to himself, and betraying his deep fondness and protectiveness towards his "old man". Tiwari kya khayal rakhega old man! Nothing is going to happen to you. Charles hai na!
Thappadiya Mai: strange prophetess: Now she is another person who is beginning to grow on me, her incessant narak ke keede line notwithstanding . She is an original, and so feisty that every scenes she is in crackles with her infectious energy.
And yet she has the instinctive empathy and understanding to be able to console a distraught Maya earlier, and now to help her find the path to peace of mind and paapmukti. The way she puts it a little later to Rudra is remarkably perceptive: Maya khudh se bhaagi bhaagi phir rahi hai..Apne ko apne aap se chipana bahut badi takleef hoti hai..
As is her comparing Maya's prayaschit to a kalpavaas that needs to be undergone if, as Maya herself tells Rudra, bojh hat jane par phir mil payenge, nayi shuruat ke bare mein soch payenge. But I could not make out what she meant by Jis cheez ki wajah se wo gayi hai, usi cheez ki wajah se wo tujhe wapas milegi. What cheez could that be? Maimuyi's death? But how?
But the real paisa vasool, seetimaar scene was when Thappadiya Mai was giving the Sinister Swami (who these days is looking more ridiculous than sinister!😉) a trailer of what lay ahead for him even before he got to the narak ke keede. It was obvious , from the sheer strength of her iron grip on his arm, that she is a garuda. And the way in which she flung him away, like a sack of potatoes, into the arms of his bewildered acolytes, was marvellous. It reminded me of the way in which a dying Maimuyi summoned up the last reserves of her will power, and not only tripped up the gloating Pandey and brought him to the ground, but clawed at his face and nearly pulled out a large chunk of his hair.
Maya: determined penitent: The one scene where Maya really came alive was the one with Balivesh, when she is all trussed up. Her eyes were full of searing contempt as she looked up at him, and it was that, and her total fearlessness, that must have enraged him so.
As for her kalpavaas to atone for her sin in contributing to the murder of Maimuyi, despite Rudra's assertion Humne tumhein Maimuyi ka qatil kabhi nahin maana.. Hum tumhein is bojh se mukt karna chahte hain..it might be dangerous, seeing how easily Balivesh's goons might get hold of her again. But it is her choice, dictated by her guilt consciousness, so there is nothing to be said about that. I only hope she does not come back too soon!😉
Finally, I would nix any speculation that Maya is one of the garudas. She is always fully covered, so she could easily have the chinna somewhere and no one would be any the wiser. But all the garudas are aggressive and prone to swift decisive action: Shivanand, Rudra, Charles, Katherine, the DM, as also Thappadiya Mai as and when she surfaces. Maya is the antithesis of this, the quintessential damsel in distress. She never does anything, apart from opening her mouth into a big O of shock as and when the hero gets wounded, for example when Rudra grasps the blade of the thug's knife.
No Take 5: I am not doing a Take 5 this time. This is already too long, my knee is almost shrieking, and in any case, all the major scenes have been covered one way or the other, except for the admittedly beautiful one of Daadi and Rudra at the Sangam. Surekha Sikri was in great form, as was Gautam as Rudra, but I preferred the earlier one with Maimuyi in the same location, which had far more of deep emotion on both sides. It is not just that no one can replace Maimuyi for Rudra; no one can replace her for me as well.
Pot pourri: 1)The Sholay fixation. Earlier, there was Charles doing a Veeru and pretending that the Ganapati idol was speaking to Katherine. Now we had the Yeh dosti take off with the mobike-cum sidecar, with Thappadiya Mai as the third wheel.😉
2) What does the Brahm Nisht Panth do in between the Purna/Mahakumbhs? Daadi only refers to their serving the kalpavaasis. Do they continue the same services for the regular inhabitants in between? And where did they find the resources for that grand punarsthapana of the Panth?
3) For the DM to bend and touch Daadi's feet twice, at what was an official meeting, was strange and not at all plausible. He is an IAS officer, and quite a senior one, and he would have never have done any such thing in public, no matter how high his regard for her and her Panth might be. He would have reserved any such paanv padna for a private meeting, like the one when he was calling on his guru Prof. Rao.
4) Daadi's account of her husband's death raising the interesting question of how she came to do the Sleeping Beauty act down there where Rudra found her. Did she go and lie down there on her own and slip off into a 24 year long yoganidra? Intriguing, as also the companion question of whether the 'Veshes knew that she has survived, and where she was all these years.
5)Given that Naanu & Co. were doing 24 saal ka tap for the amrit, and Balivesh has had his eye out for Rudra since 1989, it follows that they knew of some connection between him and the amrit. But not about the garuds, nor about the amrit being real and emerging at this once in 144 years Mahakumbh, judging from Balivesh's reaction to Greyerson's revelations about their researches. Nor about Shivanand being, or having, the key to the whole arcane mystery, for otherwise, Balivesh would never have handed him over to the Cardinal. It is all very confusing right now, what Naanu and Balivesh knew, and what they know now.
6) Why has it become accepted wisdom that Pandey killed Udiya Baba? Now Naanu is also, as I had noted in earlier posts, taking the "credit" for having got Pandey to do that. Whereas, the fact is that Pandey was targeting only Rudra, and Udiya Baba got killed trying to save him. And for targeting Rudra, Pandey lost one eye.
Ok,that is it, folks. I am headed for a full knee replacement as soon as I can manage it, but till then, I shall have to limp along, literally as well as figuratively. However, there is the World Cup on till end March for entertainment, and today India has just beaten South Africa, our second consecutive win, which is great!
Re: Mahakumbh, I hope the nagas make their appearance soon, but for now, I am waiting to see Balivesh's face after Katharine does her Fearless Nadia act with one of his henchmen, and Greyerson reveals his "trump card"!😉
Shyamala B.Cowsik
