My dear Shubha,

It does not matter how late you get here, for you always make your presence felt! I loved the criminal CV bit about Naanu, it is such a perfect phrase that fits him like a glove, and better than those ugly bandages he sports in public!👏 And ignarant thuggishness runs it a close second.

I am glad you liked so much in this post of mine. Especially my description of Daadi's nature!

As for the lachrymose Rudra, I have said enough on the ABCD thread, and will not repeat myself here, except to note that very deep grief and despair can be shown without tears, and that is what makes a fine actor stand out. Of course poor Gautam can hardly contest the director's cliched vision of how loss and misery should be shown onscreen.

As for Daadi - whose ultra erect carriage would have delighted Miss Marple - entirely by chance, I stumbled on her exhortations to Shiva in his youth, as a voiceover when Shivanand is wandering over their ruined ashram (in Episode 32). I had not paid as much attention to it when I watched that episode. Her lines are very revealing as to her relationship with him, which, it is clear, depends on how far he is prepared to fit in with the Brahma Nisht Panth tradition of nishkaama seva, and to follow strictly in the footsteps of his forefathers.

She wants him to remember that he is the next uttaradhikari of the Brahma Nisht Panth, with the duty to protect and serve all those who seek their help. You are working too hard, she adds with unexpected solicitude, you should look after yourself as well (so that the seva can be done without any break).

Then there is the bit about the need for him, and for his children after him, to keep the Saraswati Kund flowing, akshunna. In this context, your interpretation that by ek boond of amrit, she means Rudra, is very interesting and imaginative.

Unsaid, but implied in all this relatively gentle and almost affectionate monologue (for there is no indication of any response from Shivanand, at least as far as he remembers the scene) is that he has to adhere to the age old traditions and beliefs on his ancestors, and carry on their good work without any break, or any questioning of its rationale.

But of course he does not comply, and so Daadi's attitude goes to the other extreme, of sarcastic disapproval, almost hostility, and public snubs and putdowns. Above all, she exerts herself to distance Rudra from his father, and his father's "dangerous" ideas.

Given this mental block, she cannot understand that just because they and their Panth want time to stand still, it will not do so. And if they do not recognise the mortal danger threatening all of mankind, not just their Panth, and move fast to checkmate it, there will be no Panth and no traditions to be maintained either. That is pure ostrich-like behaviour, and she wants to make a baby ostrich out of her morose, clueless pota as well.

As for my pot pourri, I agree with you about the Panth's continuous seva to the general public in between the Kumbhs as well. They showed Daadi doing it, but now she is talking only of their seva to the kalpavaasis, which is a bit odd.

Yes, Nissar Khan was terrific as Dronacharya, and I recognised him as soon as he appeared here as DM Tiwari, mostly from his eyes. The Drona role was of course a much more demanding and impressive one, but he does well here too.

As usual I am late to the game, and everything has already been said...

@Bold - totally agree with you on that!!! Your posts are so good at bringing out the highlights of the show that may pass by unremarked otherwise😊

@Pink - Bravo - what a way of phrasing it!

I do not agree with all the blame that has been laid at Dadi's door and neither with the universal castigation of Rudr as cry-baby... however I totally agree with the ruDRAMAya LoveStory being one of the most unconvincing story lines ever...

Dadi has her own battle to fight, just like Siva... And she, too needs Rudr not only for the re-establishment of the panth, but also for attaining her own version of amaratva - as in passing on ones sanskaar through one's progeny... I thought there was a subtle reference to that where she says "ek boond bacha hai usko chod de" - the boond being Rudr!

About Rudr and his sorrows (but not his mooning over Maya!) enough has been said, and more in Arshi's ABCD thread...

Hope to get in here earlier next time ...😉

Thank you, my dear Ela. But last week and during this one, I enjoyed the repeats of DKDM even more than MK, which has slowed down a lot. Last night, we just arrived at the Daksha Yagna and Sati's gatecrashing it.

Shyamala

Then you have reached the most painful part of the story Shyamala...Its sad and MR excelled in acting post Sati's death...😭😭

Have you stopped watching JA at 8? No wonder trp is not increasing...😆

That crack about the TRPs, my dear, is very funny!😉 No, I no longer watch it at 8 pm. For a long time one, I was recording the 11 pm one, and watching it the next day, but now that has been dropped and so I have to record of the repeats the next morning . Nothing lost, anyway, with a day's delay, and right now it seems totally nuts. 😡😡😡

LOL, Aunty, so true about JA😕

Regarding DKDM...I think am the oddest one out here, I started watching from Sati dahan, because that is what I was waiting for...till Sonarika was there as Parvati...saw only in bits of Sati's story...firstly because of Mouni, I avoided, sorry!! not much impressed with her and secondly Sati's story always felt something lacking.
So now, I'll start watching DKDM😛

About Tulsidas's story...yup even I've heard the snake part, forgot to mention this very important thing...and often husbands, who are obsessed overtly for their wives are chided as Tulsidas😆

Well I did say that the story was becoming actor obsessed - and it has lost its shine - Shivanand is the main glue holding it together - both character and actor - as for the rest - they seem to be strategically placed for propping Rudra up !!!!

Sorry for the late reply Aunty...I've so much angst against Rudra right now that I don't know what to say😡

Rudra is THE Biggest DISAPPOINTMENT of Mahakumbh😡

What is he lamenting about? God has always been tooo kind for him, the moment an emotional support is gone, Almighty blessed him with another one with double the love...to see it...he has his whole family with him...not an ounce of thought for the woman who gave him birth????
In last night's episode, Rudra slapped the son who left his mother on banks of Ganga...what about him??????
Rudra is a SHALLOW character right now, he needs AWAKENING and fast...the show is slogging and becoming a pain.😕

A child who grows up in Shamshaan is more perceptive and aware of the "Nashwarta" of body.

Sorry but characterization of young Rudra was far better chalked out than the adult one...first we got a sudden mad, raging, bull and now this one will put Devdas to shame...have given him enough slacks, no more.

This Rudra, roaming aimlessly and sulking for Maya is quite on the lines of Tulsidas blind love for his wife Ratnavali (or Buddhimati)

Just giving a gist of what I meant...
Tulsidas was passionately attached to his wife. He could not bear even a day's separation from her. One day his wife went to her father's house without informing her husband. Tulsidas stealthily went to see her at night at his father-in-law's house. This produced a sense of shame in Buddhimati. She said to Tulsidas, "My body is but a network of flesh and bones. If you would develop for Lord Rama even half the love that you have for my filthy body, you would certainly cross the ocean of Samsara and attain immortality and eternal bliss". These words pierced the heart of Tulsidas like an arrow. He did not stay there even for a moment. He abandoned home and became an ascetic. He spent fourteen years in visiting the various sacred places of pilgrimage.

There's another one story, am noting from wiki:

Hadi Rani a legendary character daughter of Hada Rajput married to Chundawat Chieftain of Salumbar, Mewar who sacrificed herself to motivate her husband to go to the War.

When Maharan Raj Singh I (1653-1680) Mewar called her husband to join the battle against Aurangzeb, the Sardar, having married only a few days earlier hesitated about going into battle. Rajput honour being what it is, he had to join the battle regardless of his reservations. He asked his wife Hadi Rani for some memento to take with him to the battlefield.

Thinking that she was an obstacle to his doing his duty for Mewar, she cut off her head and put it on a plate in her dying moments. A servant covered it with a cloth and presented it to her husband. The Sardar, devastated but nevertheless proud.

Just wish, Maya does the same to him...I don't say, Rudra should jump on the bandwagon with his father immediately, without rationalizing but at least NOW, he should be shaken from his slumber, and self loathing and pitying...its disgusting to watch Rudra thus.😡

I loved Shivanand's dialogue, "Parivaron ke rakshak hotein hain, Rakshakon ka parivar nahi hota" So True👏
Isn't this, what our great and brave soldiers believe and live on.👏

Shiva has a hard task ahead him, instead of focusing on grouping together of Garuds, he should focus on strengthening his "meru-dand"; i.e. spinal cord.

BTW, me too don't like the idea of messing with origin of Saraswati Kund...things like these have done quite damage in real.

Will not the Garuds, know where to save the Amrit, if they know what to save?

Silly Ratnavalli who went on with "asthi charm maya deh mam..."
Lost her pati in a jiffy.

Ought to have learnt to bhaashan like begumsa or stand like maya 'o' mouthed and ready to cry. They can make their men such devoted devdas so quickly who weep and weep and sob and cry.😡🤢
