The much-publicised split between Bipasha Basu and John Abraham has got Bollywood talking. TIMES NOW correspondent Pratiksha Menon spoke to one of John's favourite co-stars and supposed flame Vidya Balan, and asked her to spill the beans as it were, on what may have gone wrong in the John-Bipasha paradise. As it turned out, Vidya Balan said a lot about John and Bipasha - without taking names of course. "I don't know, for better or worse, about any particular person or any particular relationship... but speculation is not a comfortable situation for two people," opined Vidya. Vidya may shy away from naming any one, but she can not escape from the fact that she was initially rumoured to step into Bipasha's shoes as John's leading lady in real life. The two also shared a sizzling chemistry in the film 'Salaam-e-Ishq', and that sparked rumours of a real romance. Though both denied any romantic liaison, their onscreen chemistry was told a completely different story. However Vidya did sound upset to TIMES NOW, as media reports were beginning to take their toll on John's equation with Bipasha. "When two people are in a relationship and when media speculates on link ups that can put pressure on the relationship," she concurred.
While Bipasha and John have been touted as the 'golden couple' of Bollywood in a relationship spanning over 3 years, all was not hunky dory in recent times. Rumours of John's link up with Vidya and his clandestine affair with bombshell Mallika Sherawat may have not rocked the boat, but reports of Bipasha's recent closeness with Saif and her lip-lock with footballer Christiano Ronaldo seemed to be the final straw in this flailing relationship. In fact when asked about her relationship with John in May 2007, this is what Bips had had to say: "Real life is long time ago (laughs). I don't remember."
Signs of a relationship on the wane? The duo may have been under pressure to hide the growing distance between them, considering their commercial endorsements and an upcoming film 'Goal' in which they star together. But Bips told us in that interview that she thought pressures were part of the business. "You have to be just a sharp person to be in this industry if you are going to have a relationship and be in this business," she had said. But according to John's good friend Vidya it's the media speculations that may have finally got to them. |
