We just saw Kunti and Priyamvada steal little Vrishasena from Vrushali. Here are the last few paragraphs of Part 2 to help you settle in:
Arjun tried to get up and make eye contact with Radha Ma, but he couldn't. So he just laid there and stared up at a cloud, pretending it was Radha Ma. "Mothers are important. The more the merrier."
Radha Ma smirked. "Well, I don't accept you since you killed my Karna."
Karna sighed. "Mata. I told him to kill me."
"Don't lie to me. I heard what that witch said. This one -" she jerked her head towards Arjun. "This one shot an arrow to you when you were unarmed."
"I had to Mata, otherwise the world would not get such a righteous king as my Anuj Yuddhi."
Radha Ma looked away. "Has that witch poisoned your mind such that you continue to glorify her and her vile kids."
"Mata. You will always be my mother, but I finally got to see my birth mother. She cares for me deeply."
Radha Ma stood up slowly. As she started to walk away, Karna exclaimed "Don't leave me Mata."
Radha Ma kneeled down and picked up a sword. "I have to leave you to get my grandson back." Saying so she headed towards the south east.
***
"Priya Anuj!"
"Aagya Jyesth!"
"You're the only one that can stop them. Please go."
Arjun stares at his dying eldest brother. He quickly glances at his fainted Bhabhi and looks back to Jyesthest. "But what about you? I can't leave you alone here in this condition."
"Don't worry about me Ju. Now please go and save your nephew."
Arjun grumbles, but he swallows his pain and manages to stand up. Limping like his mamashree Shakuni, he heads towards the south west.
"Ju!" Karna calls.
"What Jyesth!!" He answers back.
"Our Matas went to the south east!!"
Arjun grumbles and limps towards the south east leaving a dying Karna smiling with his teeth. As soon as Arjun left, Vrushali opened her eyes and crawls up to Karna. "Good riddance of that fool. Now Arya ... are you ... uhm... busy? Shall we .. one last time ... " she says seductively.
Meanwhile, Arjun slowly recovers his strength and soon finds himself able to jog. Picking up the pass, he overtakes Radha Ma, but stops.
"Radha Ma! Do you need a lift?" He cries.
Radha Ma makes a bad face and shakes her head. The last thing she wanted was to get a ride from this murderer.
Arjun frowns and falls at Radha Ma's feet. "Please Radha Ma! I don't know how else I can forgive myself for killing Karna. There isn't anything in the world I can see besides serving you that could help me bear the burden of this great sin I have committed."
Radha Ma looks down at the warrior and smiles. Arjun, seeing Radha Ma's smile, also begins to smile. Sadly, Radha Ma was smiling because she was aiming a kick at Arjun. Arjun's tiger like instincts kick into action. Dodging Radha Ma's incoming foot, he tapped it gently to put enough pressure to make the foot spin a tad bit more. Unable to control the speed of her foot (as well as the pains of old age), Radha Ma slowly begins to fall, only to be caught by Arjun, who now had a mysterious look in his face.
"Radha Ma ... nay ... Radha."
Radha Ma's eyes opened wide. What was this man doing? Confused, she looked away, but soon realized that Arjun's hand was on her chin gently turning her face towards him.
"Back away you pervert!!" she screams and slaps Arjun across his face.
Startled, Arjun places his hand on the slapped region and with a questioning look asks, "Radha Ma. Why did you slap me?"
"You ... you ... you ... touched me."
"Yes, I caught you. Besides, I think of you as my mother." He lowered his eyebrows and felt Radha Ma's forehead. "Are you feeling okay Radha Ma?"
"What? Yes. Don't touch me." she said, pushing Arjun's hands away; her face red like a tomato.
"Now shall we go? I'd like to save my nephew now." He smiled.
"Yes, let us go." She said cooly.
Together they rush off towards the stream of smoke that had risen from the fire pit. As they got closer, they could see Priyamvada had changed clothes and was dressed in black. Covered in ashes and wearing a garland made of skulls, she was seated near the fire pit, loudly chanting mantras. Her long black unbound hair flowed in the wind. Kunti sat next to her, gently running her hands through the hair of a young boy who was lying on the ground.
As the duo rushed up, Arjun is shocked to see who the young boy was. It was Sutasoma. Vrishasena was nowhere to be seen.
Arjun drops his sword and rushes over to his mother. He drops to his knee and grabs Sutasoma's hand to check his pulse. Feeling the pulse, he felt a wave of relief rush through him.
"Mata," he said. "Why is Sutasoma here?"
Kunti didn't answer and just gave him a blank stare.
"Mata?" Arjun whispered, slightly worried. He touched his mother's cheek and rubbed it. She felt cold. What was going on?
Radha Ma started to look around for Vrishasena but upon not seeing him, she picked up Arjun's sword and pointed it towards Kunti.
"You witch. Tell me where my grandson is now."
Kunti looked up at Radha Ma, and with tears streaming down her face, she tried to say something but words just wouldn't come out.
Radha Ma, fearing the worst, shook uncontrollably and fainted. Arjun rushed over to Radha Ma and placed her head on his lap. Massaging her face and head, he whispered, "Radha Maa ... uuthiye na. Wake up Radha Ma! Please!"
Seeing as nothing was working, he gently places her head on the sand and rushes over to Sutasoma. Lifting the boy, he turns around.
"ARJUN!" screamed Kunti.
Arjun turned around to face his mother who again had a blank face.
"Mata. what is the meaning of all this?"
Priyamvada interrupted. "Your mother is no longer your mother. She is my slave." She smiles.
Arjun blinks. "What!"
"I said your mother is no longer your mother. She is my slave!"
"What1"
"Can you not hear me?"
"Oh no. I got you loud and clear. I meant what as in not a question."
"Oh ... this is awkward."
The two stare at the sky for a minute before Arjun asks. "So why did you make my mom your slave?"
"She was vulnerable. She kept thinking about Karna day in and day out. She would send me messages about how she was feeling about Karna. If I was in the city, she would visit me multiple times a day asking me if she should reveal the truth to you guys about Karna or if she should tell Karna the truth."
"Ohh..."
"She went as far as to catch me in my intimate moments with your mamashree."
Arjun tilts his head. "Look I get you're my mom's friend and all. But I'm a prince, you're a maidservant. Your husband isn't my mamashree."
Priyamvada frowns. "I meant your mamashree Shakuni."
Arjun's eyes widened. "Woah ..." He shook his head and cleared his head. "Whatever. I don't want to have anything to do with you or your weird dark arts thing." He turned to the side and mumbled to himself, "dammit. If only I had brought my Gandhiva with me, I could have put an end to this crazy lady."
Still holding Sutasoma in his hands, he slowly backs away but hits a wall of sorts. Turning around, he sees nothing blocking his path, but he clearly can feel an invisible barrier blocking his path. Turning back, he notices a creepy smile come up on Priyamvada's face.
"Running away so soon Paarth."
Arjun narrowed his eyes and hugged Sutasoma tighter. "You are not getting Panchaali's son like you got Bhabhishri's son!!" He roared, mentally hoping that he can score some Pati Points.
"Sons." she said matter-of-factly.
"huh?"
"Sons. Your precious Karna's sons were all killed by me." She smiled.
"What!! Not my Ka's kids!" He accidentally drops Sutasoma. Kneeling on the ground, he quickly tries to wipe the dust and dirt from his body. Noticing a complexion change, he looks at his hands. They were getting darker. Wiping more dust from Sutasoma, he noticed that Sutasoma no longer had a brown face like his dad, it was white ... like Karna!!
Wait a second, he thought to himself ... this was Vrishasena all along!! Breathing a sigh of relief, he looks up at Priyamvada who stood there dumbfounded now that the truth has come out.
Closing her eyes, she began to chant various mantras aloud and she threw the pile of ashes in all directions. When she opened her eyes, Arjun could see the redness in them. Holding the palm of her hand in front of her, she aimed at Vrishasena and shot a red beam at them. Instinctively, Arjun jumped over Vrishasena to shield him and tightly hugged him and whispered in his ears the glories of his father, the great king of Anga.
As Arjun closed his eyes, not fearing his life, a flash of lightning struck the ground in front of Arjun and Vrishasena. The red beam collided with the lightning and vanished. Arjun opened his eyes to see someone's red feet beneath a golden sari flowing in the wind. As he got up, his eyes followed until it reached the face of their mysterious savior.
"Mata Madri?" he whispered under his breath. It was both out of joy and fear. Why had Mata Madri come down from heaven?
Madri turned around and smiled. She looked as youthful as ever; her eyes twinkled with joy as she saw her son Arjun.
"Arjun!" She smiled even more. "It's been a ---." Before she could complete the sentence, Arjun wrapped his arms around Madri.
"We all missed you so much chotti Ma."
Madri fumbled for words as tears poured down her face. Arjun was always the most innocent of her 5 sons.
As he let go of her, he appeared perplexed for a second. "Oh mata. Where are my manners." Saying so, he kneeled down, touched Madri's feet, and said, "Pranipath Chotti Mata."
"Kalyan Ho putra." she said emotionally.
"You witch!!" came the shrill voice of Priyamvada. She was angry at Madri's interference. She would have surely gotten Vrishasena today, and as a bonus she would have gotten Arjun too!
Madri spun around, consumed with rage.
"You trapped my sister Kunti, I didn't say anything. You tried to kill Kunti's eldest son Karna's son, I didn't do anything. But you made the mistake of taking aim at my Arjun. Before I kill you, at least tell me the reason why you wanted to kill Vrishasena."
"Vrishasena was the bait Madri. I wanted Arjun."
Arjun exchanged a look with Madri. He was just as confused as she was.
"Why did you want Arjun?"
"Arjun was the only obstacle to victory. I wanted to get rid of him."
"The war doesn't concern you Priyamvada," Arjun said, coldly. "So why interfere?"
Silence. Priyamvada looked at Kunti and began to chant mantras. Seeing this, Madri uses her celestial speed to come between Kunti and Priyamvada.
"NO." she declared boldly. "You will not lay your dirty hands on didi anymore."
Priyamvada cackled with joy. She danced around the fire pit. She stopped.
"You don't want to mess with me Madri. Go back to your precious Pandu and do what you do best. Seduce that bassfish."
Madri's eyes widened. Before she could say anything, Arjun grabs Priyamvada by the hair and punches her.
"Do not insult my dad." He vented.
Priyamvada grabbed her nose to stop the blood from flowing.
She spat at Arjun and said, "Your dad WAS a bassfish. Want to know a little secret Pandu putra Arjun."
Arjun looked away.
"I was originally married to your father." She giggled.
Arjun stared at Priyamvada. "What nonsense do you speak?"
"It's a long story. Long before Kunti and Pandu were married, Bhishma made Pandu marry me. I was originally from the Kuru Kingdom. I wasn't friends with your mother until a few months before Karna was born."
Madri ran her fingers through her hair to remain cool. "That's a lie."
"Go ask that old man Bhishma then. I married your stupid husband because of his illness. The royal priest Kripacharya suggested that Pandu get married to me to cure him. I, the daughter of Chitraratha and Sunanda of the Nagas, was married to that pale freak. I was never like this." Here she pointed up and down her old and frail body and her torn black clothes.. "I was young, beautiful, rich, arrogant. I was the epitome of seduction. But that stupid man only saw me as a medium to get cured. I never enjoyed my wedding night. I never enjoyed a single moment with my Arya." She stuck out her long tongue and waved it about.
Madri looked down in disgust. Hearing this low person calling her husband Arya sent a wave of heat throughout her body.
"Later Bhishma and Pandu convinced me to become the maidservant of Prtha, the quote," here see makes the quotation gesture. "intelligent daughter of Kuntibhoja.
"Me a maidservant. I accepted since it was my Arya wish. But I didn't know I was going to go there to play the role of matchmaker. Those two set me up. I remained a maidservant while Pandu married Kunti. I tried to call off the marriage by getting this foolish girl pregnant by bringing up doubt about Durvasa Rshi's mantra, but she just ended up abandoning the child."
Madri groaned. "Look frankly I don't give two ships about your past. Why was your target Arjun?"
"Wasn't that clear Madri? I wanted Arjun out of the way so my Arya and I can live together in peace."
"But Pandu..."
Priyamvada laughed. "That napunsak. No. I got married later on to the handsome prince of Gandhar."
Arjun looked puzzled. "Ulook is your pati?" He was disgusted, but it was Ulook after all.
"No. I was talking about your mamashree Shakuni."
Arjun blinked. "What? Him? Why? Whatever ... nobody cares."
"He cared for me Prince Arjun. His loins burned with passion for me. He ..."
"OK look, we got a kid here. If you want to talk like this, go to a brothel you sicko."
Priyamvada's face twisted in rage. "How dare you tell me to do such a thing, you pervert?"
Arjun grabbed his sword, raising it to strike her.
"Arjun shut up and don't do anything." Madri said.
Arjun silently obeyed, though he was fuming.
"Why Kunti then? Why make Kunti kill her grandchildren?"
"Mata you heard all that?" Arjun asked.
"Yes, I always kept a close eye on you brothers. I knew Kunti could handle you all, but it wouldn't hurt to have an extra eye from the heavens. Besides your father was pretty famous up there with the heavenly nymphs. Anyway ... I thought I told you to shut up."
Priyamvada laughed. "I didn't do any of that. I told you, I wanted Arjun and only Arjun. Kunti was going crazy over Karna." She paused. "I just guided her to the person who suggested the things she do." she cackled again.
Madri took a deep breath. "For the sins you have committed against the Pandu Parivaar, I, Madri, wife of Pandu, sister of Kunti, mother of the Pandavas, award you death." She raised her right hand and bent her thumb, ring finger, and pinky so only the index and middle fingers stood tall. Closing her eyes and mediating on the heavenly energy she mentally targeted Priyamvada. About to release an energy ball filled with her aura, she opened her eyes to see Pandu standing in front of Priyamvada with his arms wide apart, as if to signal Madri to not release the energy ball towards Priyamvada, as if ... shielding Priyamvada.
Special Note: For those wondering, I was going to include something about the UPs, but I changed my mind about including them. They might be mentioned in the future, but right now, I don't have any plans to include any secret death plots.
