'Kituu' to go off air
Apparently, the cast of the serial, including protagonist Ami Trivedi, is left miffed at the sudden decision After Hours Correspondent
In a sudden turn of events, Sahara One has decided to pull the curtains on one of its popular serials 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai' from April 6. Rumours to this effect had been floating around for sometime but there had been no concrete statement given from the channel or the production house (Manish Goswami's Siddhanth Cinevision).
However, Kalyan Sundaram, the programming head of Sahara One has now made it official.

"Yes, it's true. 'Kituu…' is being pulled off air," he says.

Sundaram clarifies, "We decided to wind up the serial because the story demanded so. Every programme has to end somewhere and we thought that after getting Kituu and Rohan (the protagonists played by Ami Trivdei and Amit Varma) married, there was nothing more to exploit there." But to the actors, this move seems to be a sudden decision.

Ami, who played the title role remarks, "It's very depressing; one day you reach the sets to be told that you will not be shooting for the serial from tomorrow! We were all dumbstruck. But there's not much we can do about it." She continues, "Even the audience is refusing to believe it.

I received so many calls from my fans, protesting against the closure and asking for the serial to be continued. It's disheartening to say the least." Sundaram reasons, "We had conveyed this decision to the production house a long time ago. If they did not convey it to the actors, it's not our fault. Is it?" 'Kituu…' is expected to be replaced by the ongoing show 'The Comedy Champions'.

Kittu off as Doli... comes

Kittu Sab Janti Hai is going off the air, April 6 being the last episode. The episode ends with Kittu winning the best journalist award of the year and tying the knot with Rohan. Just when they are celebrating Kittu gets a call that a minister's house has been attacked and she has to rush to the spot.

The show which will replace Kittu from this month-end will probably be Aroona Irani's Doli Sajake Rakhna.

'I can't accept infidelity in a relationship'

Amit Verma on love, lust and marriage

Your first crush...
It was in my seventh grade. I had the hots for my science teacher!
Your first date...
Was very filmi. It was in college where we got stuck in the floods and went to have coffee at a nearby place.
Your idea of a perfect date...
Is a dinner on the beach preferably in Goa, where it's very quiet and nobody else around for miles! I love being in a natural surrounding than a stuffy restaurant. Also, if you are with the right person the date has got to be perfect!
What qualities do you look for in a woman?
Intelligence and a good sense of humour. I can't imagine spending my life with someone who cannot take things with a pinch of salt.
What was your first relationship like?
It was beautiful. I had no idea if it was just infatuation but only when I got out of it, I realised it was love. But it was wonderful.
What do you think about lust versus love?
Love is obviously more important, but lust is a part and parcel in any relationship. One is to the heart, the other to the body.
What is romance to you?
It can be anything as long as you are with your soul mate. It can be either on a beach or a crowded market.
Who'd you like to get dirty on an island?
I can't think of anyone but Sharon Stone!
Do you believe in the institution of marriage?
Yes very much, not only because it's in the Indian tradition but I truly believe in it.
Your take on infidelity?
I give others the benefit of doubt considering their situation. I know that it is a common thing in today's society, but I can't accept infidelity in a relationship.

What's cooking between Amit and Ami?

Amit Verma and Ami Trivedi' s show 'Kittu Sab Janti Hain' may have gone off air but the actors don't seem to have gotten out of their characters of Rohan and Kittu, respectively.

When shooting for an episode of the horror-series ' Aahat', in which they again play man and wife, the director had to keep reminding the couple that the show was a thriller - and they were playing the roles of two terrified characters, and were not enacting the part of an in-love couple!

Please, somebody tell them they have changed shows and characters.

Kituu's thanksgiving trip
By: Shaheen Parkar
April 21, 2007

Ami Trivedi went to the famed Shreenathji temple in Rajasthan for a darshan recently

It was a thanksgiving trip, not necessarily for anything in particular other than the wonderful life that she's been blessed with, says Ami Trivedi, better known as the small screen's Kituu. The actress recently visited the famed Shreenathji temple in Rajasthan.

Post her SaharaOne drama, Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai, was yanked off air, Ami did an episode of the Sony horror show, Aahat.

"Now that I have time on hand, I decided to fulfil my longstanding desire to visit the place," says Ami. "I had visited it as a child but had only faint memories."

Daunting darshan

Along with her cousin, Urvi Ashar, she hit the high road to Rajasthan.

"We travelled by road all the way to Nathdwar, near Udaipur, where the
temple is located.

As my parents (Tushar and Jaya Trivedi) are based in London, I live with Urvi and her folks in Andheri," says Ami.

Wasn't she recognised there? "Wherever we stopped, people not only called me Kituu but also knew my real name.

Some even remembered me from my Gujarati theatre days."

Ami spent three days in Udaipur, soaking in the religious fervour. Talking about her visit to the temple, she says, "The darshan was an awesome experience. Shreenathji is another swaroop of Lord Krishna.

The only thing is that the place is packed at all times; you hardly get seconds for the darshan as there are people pushing you.

At one time, I had my back facing the deity! Thanks to the crowd, I could not even turn and stand straight," rues the actress.

She hopes to visit the place again with her mother later this year. Meanwhile, she is exploring new offers on the small screen as well as on stage. "I'm taking my time. I'm in no hurry. I'd like to chill out for a while now."

Manish back in action

Telly producer Manish Goswami has been spotted making the rounds of TV channels once again.

After recently being operated upon for a heart ailment ('Manish hospitalised', HiTLIST, April 5), he maintained a low profile for a few weeks.

Now, he is back in the thick of things with two shows lined up for two different channels.

However, he is unwilling to talk about them just yet.

"It's too early to spell out the details as talks are still in progress," he says.

After Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai (SaharaOne) and Aisa Des Hai Mera (Sony), Manish is ready to get back on track.

Post his illness, he sure has shed a considerable amount of flab too!

Amit Verma aka Rohan Kapoor of the erstwhile Kitu Sabb Jaanti Hai was recently spotted in the most happening party destination of our country - Goa. No he wasn't partying, Amit was shooting for music video for US based singer Rajshri Agarwal.

Supposedly, the song which is a romantic number had Amit dancing to Salsa. And incidentally, he has been wanting to join Salsa classes for a long time, but never had been able to make time for it.

Says Amit, "I was shooting for three long days either in the scorching summer heat or in the fake rain. I'm terribly sun burnt especially my face. But the overall experience was amazing. I wanted to learn Salsa, Jive and Cha Cha Cha for a long time but couldn't seem to take time off for it and this video happened out of the blue and revived my interest all over again."

This is not the first time that Amit will be seen in a music video. He has featured in two other music video's earlier as well.

Amit was also recently seen in an episode of Mano Ya Na Mano and will be seen next week in an episodic in Man Main Hain Vishwas. But what about some dailies Amit?, "I have been getting lots of offers, but for me its not just playing the main lead, but the characterisation and concept that's important. I don't mind taking it slow and easy till something really good comes my way, " says Amit.

Amit sweats out for good

Amit Varma has been busy these days doing the rounds of his gym. Those who haven't seen him in the recent past are in for a shock. The man has lost 10 kgs in just 2 months, plus put on some sexy muscles as well!

Amit thanks his trainer and his regular weight training sessions for the feat. "During the wrapping-up of Kittu, I had gained quite some weight. Whenever I thought I'd diet or take time out to work out, it never happened. Now, all that has changed."

To make sure all the sweating-out doesn't go waste, Amit has now put himself on a stringent diet and hits the gym five days a week. He is also contemplating taking Western dance classes as they are an excellent form of cardioid vascular exercise. Will the other bloated bods on screen take a lesson from this hunk?
