Kituu's toothy affair
By: Shaheen Parkar
February 7, 2007

Ami Trivedi

Ever since last weekend, Ami Trivedi has been under duress shooting for Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai. A routine tooth extraction has resulted in the actress' face being puffed up — and it shows on the screen!

"All those who have watched the last couple of episodes of the show will wonder what's wrong with my face," says Ami, who plays the title role in the SaharaOne daily. "I never knew that the extraction of a wisdom tooth would make me look like this. It appears as if I have a paan stuffed in one of my cheeks!"

Miss Professional

For the past couple of weeks, a nagging pain in her wisdom tooth compelled her to consult a dental surgeon. "I was told that the wisdom tooth on the right side was growing horizontally, instead of vertically, which was causing me immense pain. After bearing it for a while, there was no way out but to have it extracted."

The actress thought it would be a routine extraction so she did not ask for medical leave from the shoot. "I had my tooth extracted on Saturday. I had told the unit folk that I would report to shooting later in the afternoon.

But after the dentist had completed the extraction process, I was told that I could not face the camera for three days due to the swelling. I panicked but reported to the shoot with my swollen face. Even though I was given painkillers, there was that uncomfortable feeling."

Endless pain

As Kituu is a daily, the actress had no option but to continue with the shoot. "I tried camouflaging the swelling by make-up but it was of no use. There was no way I could just take off from the shoot. As a result, I went ahead with a swollen face on camera. Viewers will really wonder what I have been up to," she laughs.

Apart from the tooth pain and being on a strict liquid diet, there was one more setback for Kituu. "I guess it was just not my luck. For the last few days, I was waiting for a modelling offer and when it came through they wanted me to shoot immediately. I was in no condition to shoot for the commercial; that's what is called life," bemoans Ami, who was previously seen on the Gujarati stage.

Ami's dilemma, however, does not end here. The dentist has told her that the other wisdom tooth on the lower left side, too, has to be extracted. "There is no way I am going to remove it for the time being. I can't bear to see my face like this again!"

Amit Verma all for modelling !

Amit Verma aka Rohan of Kittu Sab Jaanti Hai fame is having a change of heart about his career choice. The actor who has largely been busy with his show on Sahara is considering full time modelling seriously.

When we spoke to the actor about this change of heart, he says with great interest, "I think the demands on an actor are more in the modelling domain than in shooting for a serial. Look you have to give a dozen different expressions in less than 30 seconds in the ad shoot as opposed to a soap, which is more spaced out. I recently shot for an ad for Breeze Soap and would be shooting my next for a leading cooking oil brand. Since, Kittu takes more than 20 days in a month I have to wait till I get the time to start in a full fledged way. Moreover I will be clicking a fresh portfolio to stay ahead in the cut throat world of modelling."

So, what do we say on that. Well, great Amit at least you are the first one to think the other way round. We hope you take this leap and prove that a U turn on the fast lane of glamour is not always a wrong choice.

What will singles do on Valentine's?

Valentine's Day is round the corner and lovers are already excited to rejoice and exhibit their feelings on D day. But what about the singles in tellyland who still haven't found their Mr/Miss Right? How do they intend to celebrate this most romantic day of the year? Does this day hold any importance for them? Let's find out through Prashant Golecha.

PS: Hope so next year these TV stars don't fall in this category and bid alvida to their singleton status.

Prachi Desai

Plans
: I will be shooting throughout the day and spending time with my co-stars Rano, Piya and others. Maybe at night I will go for dinner with my mom Anita.

Thought for the day: I am just 18. Till now it used to be only exchanging gifts, celebrating rose day and stuff like that in school and college. This is my first proper Valentine.

Ami Trivedi

Plans
: On 14th Feb, I will be shooting and spending the whole day on the sets of Kittu Sab Janti Hai. But I hope to catch up with near and dear ones post work.

Thought for the day: I'm not giving a thought to having a relationship as one needs time for it. Career is my top most priority. It will happen when it is destined to happen.

Shaleen Bhanot

Plans
: Loneliness will be my Valentine. If no one gives me company I will go all alone for a romantic drive, listening to some mushy music, ghazals like tera chehra kitna suhana lagta hai by Jagjeet Singh.

Thought for the day: I am still very much single. May be girls don't like me; maybe I'm just an ordinary guy.

Parakh Madan

Plans
:
I will be shooting the whole day. My parents are in Delhi so this time around I'll be genuinely alone. If no one accompanies me, I'll treat myself with yummy food or may be indulge in shopping therapy.

Thought for the day:I don't have any Valentine so I would hope that Mr. Right comes forward and asks me out for dinner.

Karan Grover

Plans: I will be shooting on Valentine and won't be celebrating it. But this day is a good occasion to party whether you have a girlfriend or not.

Thought for the day:My work keeps me hyper busy. May be lack of time is the reason for being single. But I believe when the right person comes the magic of love will rub on me.

Is Amit quitting Kittuu...?

The actor will soon be shown dead in the show but the question is, will he rise from the dead?

DEEPALI DHINGRA

There's some bad news for all the fans of Amit Varma who plays Rohan in SaharaOne's Kittu Sabb Jaanti Hai. The actor will soon be shown dead! But ask Amit about it and he evades the question. "My death will provide a twist in the story," is all he's willing to reveal. Which leads one to wonder, will his track actually go off air or will the man be back in the show in true filmi style?
Though the 28-year-old actor has been offered a number of roles, Amit says that he's looking for something interesting to come his way. "I would like to do some weekly now. I had done Hotel Kingston which was a weekly and was an interesting show as well. I would love to do something similar," he says. And like most television actors, Amit too harbours Bollywood dreams. In fact, he's acted in a film called Detective Nani which hasn't seen the light of the day yet, but he's hopeful that it will happen soon. "I spoke to the director recently and chances are that the film will release very soon," he says optimistically. The actor reveals that he had planned to start networking in Bollywood by this year. "But fortunately or unfortunately, television didn't give me any time to do that," he adds with a smile. But very soon, he promises, that too will happen.
Not many are aware though that as a youngster, Amit had another passion besides acting — cricket. "In fact, my cricket coach was Ramakant Achrekar and I used to be one of his favourite students," he recalls. So what made him take up acting instead of becoming a cricketer? "Well, my board exams were approaching and my parents felt it's better I concentrate on studies rather than learn how to play cricket. Once I left that, I could never take it up again," says Amit. And now, the avid cricket buff is eagerly looking forward to the World Cup. "Oh man! I'm already geared up to watch it. Thankfully, the sets of Kittuu... has a lot of television sets, so I can do my work and watch the game as well," he adds. Now, that's called mixing business with pleasure!

Kituu rues drinking juice
By: Shaheen Parkar
March 10, 2007

A glass of watermelon juice became Ami Trivedi's worst nightmare on Thursday. It gave her the shivers and a doctor had to be summoned on the sets.

As a result producer Manish Goswami had to cancel the shoot of his show Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai, in which Ami essays the title role.

Ami, who is currently recuperating at home, has been advised complete rest. "It was a horrifying experience.

We were shooting in Madh Island in the afternoon and everyone else was sweating due to the heat while I was in one corner with three blankets on."

Sole target

The actress says that while returning home on Wednesday night she stopped for a glass of watermelon juice at Four Bungalows. "My family was with me also and they too had glasses of the cool drink.

But it was only me who felt sick after it. It is not that I don't eat outside but I really don't know what happened to me after that. Even though we had it in a restaurant and not exactly at a roadside joint, I had a terrible time. I began throwing up and felt queasy!"

Repeated sickness

Yet, Ami made it to the shoot the next morning. "I could barely give two or three shots as by then I began shivering.

I could not even stand. The doctor who was called administered two injections and later I went home and just crashed into bed."

Incidentally, last month, a routine tooth extraction had left Ami's face all bloated up — and it showed on the screen. As reported 'Kituu's tooth affair' (HitList, February 7), the actress had to stop shooting for the soap for a few days.

"It seems that one sickness is following the other," she rues. And it will be a while before she drinks a glass of watermelon juice again!

Hair-raising tale!

Ami Trivedi's locks got burnt while shooting for Kittu…

Ami Trivedi

Ami Trivedi aka Kittu from Kittu Sabb Jantii Hai burnt her hair while shooting an important sequence in the serial. The actor was shooting a funeral sequence, where she was required to howl and cry. Ami got so involved in the shot that she did not realise that her hair was burning…

But, how did she manage to be so careless on the set? Ami says, "The sequence required me to run towards the pyre. I was so engrossed in my shot that I was completely unaware about my hair catching fire. My co-actors came to my rescue well in time and tried to extinguish the fire. I realise, it could have been fatal. I was too shocked." The actress is obviously taking care of her hair now. Adds Ami "Initially, I was too scared to look into the mirror. Later, when I did, I got the shock of my life to find patches of my locks burnt. So, I got those locks chopped off after the incident. Now, I've started oiling and massaging my hair more often."

The whole nation is going ga-ga over the World Cup and suddenly everyone seems to have become quite cricket-savvy! Another jolt to Aroona's Doli
By: Shaheen Parkar
March 30, 2007

As if constant delays weren't bad enough, actor Anuj Saxena has now walked out of the show after shooting 10 episodes

Inteha Ho Gayi... intezaar ki: Aroona Irani
It looks like this bride and groom will continue waiting for a while longer. Though it has been long-in-the making, there's fresh trouble for Aroona Irani's soap, Doli Saja Ke, slated for SaharaOne.

The inordinate delays have resulted in actor Anuj Saxena quitting the show even before it is slated to go on air by April-end.

Busybody

Saxena has shot for more than 10 episodes, so a re-shoot with a fresh incumbent could prove daunting. It is learnt that Irani has submitted four audition tapes to SaharaOne to pencil in on the replacement.

Says Saxena, "I opted out of Doli Saja Ke out of choice. Presently, I am very busy with other commitments, so it was better to part ways.

My production house Maverick is presenting the film Dulha Mil Gaya (starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Fardeen Khan), besides some other projects."

Kahani mein twist

No Time: Anuj Saxena
It is learnt that Saxena had an amicable parting with the channel. Earlier, the actor was seen in SaharaOne's shows like Asha Parekh's Kuuch Pal Saath Tumhara, Raja Mukerji's Prratima and Kinnari Mehta's Solhah Singaarr.

"May be a few months down the line something interesting may come along. I will look at it," adds Saxena who has featured in soaps like Kkusum and Rishhton Ki Dor in recent times.

Doli Saja Ke is a family saga about the trials and tribulations of a father and daughter.

Somewhat similar to the Anil Kapoor film Lamhe, the story takes off after the wife dies giving birth and the father becomes indifferent to the offspring.

Saxena plays the role of the husband who loses his wife (Surbhi Tiwari). The daughter (Barkha Bisht) is considered unlucky and has to live with the curse of being responsible for her mother's death.

Jaya Mathur essays the role of the second wife. Manoj Bidvvai and Arzoo Govitriker also feature in the drama.

Irani has produced shows like Des Main Nikkla Hoga Chand (Star), Rabba Ishq Na Hove and Mehndi Tere Naam Ki (both Zee) and Vaidehi (Sony).

Incidentally, she was also slated to produce Dor, starring Muskan Mihani, for SAB, which never took off despite a long shoot schedule.

'Doli Saja Ke will not replace Kituu'

Off We Go! Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai

Manish Goswami's Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai will be yanked off air next week.

But the new show in the 10 pm slot will not be Aroona Irani's Doli Saja Ke.

Says Kalyan Sundaram, programming head, SaharaOne, "The last episode of Kituu will air on April 6 but we are not replacing it with a soap.

Comedy Champions will air during that hour. Doli Saja Ke will air April-end."

"It's a big blow" - Ami Trivedi

Sahara One's Kittu Sab Jaanti Hai is being pulled off air and Ami Trivedi aka

the protagonist Kittu is disheartened. In a tete-a-tete with tellychakkar.com.The spunky actor, reveals, "It's a big blow. For some time I just couldn't digest the fact. We are all trying to come to terms with it." Though she is not clear about the reasons for its termination, "It was doing well but I don't know exactly why they decided to end the serial."

Recently one of Kittu's female fans visited them on the sets as Ami says,"This girl had made an entire album with cuttings of the serial, from start till date. She even wore a Kittu-style outfit. I was so touched and it hit me then that it was coming to an end," adding further, "It was a good unit and a wonderful team. We have been shooting constantly and all of us are going to miss it for sure."

Offers are already on their way for new serials but it is clear Ami is hesitant to take up similar roles when she avers, "production houses are approaching me for the same kind of a middle-class and positive roles. I wouldn't mind a glamorous one." The actor is likely to go in for an image make-over with a new glamorous portfolio in order to fetch her different characters.

Ami has acted in serials like Babul ki Duvaayen Leti Jaa on Zee TV and as Brinda in Kumkum on Star Plus earlier, but it was as Kittu that she got her due recognition.

N ews of Siddhant Cinevi- sion's Manish Goswa- mi undergoing a bypass surgery has shocked those who are working with him. Most say that he fell ill because his show Kittu Sab Jaanti Hai (Sahara One) was taken off air recently. Sources say that Goswami has been shifted to an intensive care unit. Amit Verma, who played the lead Rohan in Kittu.., says, "I never imagined this could hap- pen to Manishji. We are all depressed since we heard of the decision that the show will go off the air. "I haven't been able to meet him since he's still undergoing treatment. The entire cast and crew of Kittu is planning to vis- it him together." Ami Trivedi, who played the lead character Kittu, says, "I couldn't believe the news. It's so disheartening. I just met him the other day and he was fine." Ask her about the two- year–old show and she says, "I'm happy that it has come to a natural end. We didn't want to drag on with the story just because it was doing well. But the fact remains that I will miss acting as Kit- tu. I loved the character." Goswami is known for hit TV serials like Daraar, Adhikar, Aashirwaad, Kartavya, Milan and Kitty Party.
