First of all, very sorry for the late update 😳 I didn't get much time to write it... I have been very busy lately... Okay, so here's a very long update... and an important one too... A lot of things happen in this one... I am sure you will enjoy it...

EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 56

Shlok cut the cake. Everyone was happy. Shlok received wishes from everyone as Aastha and Rahul supervised the preparations of the main party that was to follow. This was just the beginning. The main party was yet to begin. Many guests were invited who were to arrive in another half-an-hour. Aastha and Aditi had bought new garments for the Shlok - a sky-blue shirt, a white pant and a white jacket. Aastha had the garments in the bag in her hand. She looked at Shlok and felt satisfied seeing him happy. Shlok was busy talking to his family members. Aastha began walking to him to hand him the bag when Aditi came to her. Aditi had changed her dress and was wearing a beautiful pink lehenga. Aastha praised her and Aditi was glad to receive the compliment. Aditi took the bag from Aastha saying that she will give the bag to Shlok. Aastha couldn't deny. Just then the caterer called out to Aastha and she went leaving Aditi with the bag.

Aditi, instead of taking the bag to Shlok, went to her room. She she picked up the red heart-shaped card she had prepared for Shlok. She read the words she had written... I love you Shlok! And I know you love me too!! Will you marry me? She realised she had not written her name. She added at the end ... Only Yours, Aditi. Her lips curved into a smile. She kissed he card and put it into the bag before going to Shlok.

Shlok was talking to Varad when Aditi came there. Shlok looked at her and smiled. She was expecting him to praise her good looks but instead he continued his conversation with Varad. Aditi gasped in disbelief. She smiled and said, "Shlok, I am looking beautiful, ain't I?" Varad was angry seeing Aditi and he didn't know what to say. Shlok looked at Aditi with a smile and was about to say something but Rahul came there saying, "Arey Shlok, you are still here? Guests will be arriving now! Go, get ready soon!!" Shlok nodded and was about to leave when Aditi stopped him and handed over the bag containing the garments and her card. "What's this?" asked Shlok. "New clothes for you...!! Go and change now!" said Aditi and walked away blushing. Shlok walked to his room curious to know what was there in the bag.

Aastha and Aditi arranged chocolate balls on the huge cake that was ordered for the main party. Kavya too helped her favourite Aastha didi in the preparations. Varad seemed disturbed. Sojal asked him the reason. He told Sojal that they must speak to Niranjan and Anjali about Shlok and Aastha as soon as possible. Sojal agreed. They decided to speak about it after the party.

Guests began arriving. "Come Aditi, we need to receive the guests!" said Aastha. But Aditi was nervously waiting for Shlok to come out. Her heartbeats were rising by every assing moment. He must have seen the card by now... What will his reaction be? He will surely be happy! I know he loves me... just want to hear it from him! Oh God! Aditi was eagerly waiting for Shlok. She told Aastha to go receive the guests and she would join her in some time.

Aastha went to the door and joined Anjali, Sojal and Niranjan in welcoming the guests. As Aastha was the manager of this party, it was her responsibility to see to it that everything went well. Varad and Rahul checked through all the arrangements once again. Niranjan praised Aastha's management and he was very happy with all the arrangements. Anjali had also invited Aastha's parents.

Rahul introduced Pooja to Aastha as, "Aastha, this is my lovely fiance, Pooja!" Both the girls were glad to meet each other. Pooja was a very sweet person. Pooja readily helped Aastha as they chatted with each other. "I have heard a lot about you from Rahul...!" said Pooja. Aastha smiled. "I want to tell you something..." said Pooja, "Learn to express your feelings, Aastha..." Aastha looked at Pooja in surprise. Was she talking about Aastha's feelings for Shlok? Did she know about it? Rahul must have told her. Aastha was compelled to think when Pooja said, "Speak out your feelings freely... If you don't, it may happen that you will have to regret later..."

Aastha skipped a beat. Fear gripped her heart. "Shlok never said that he loves me. Neither have I ever told him how much I love him. Does he really love me? Or have I just assumed it?" Aastha's heart was beating fast, her mind was not stable. She closed her eyes and tried to search the answer. "No! I am sure he loves me! I know it!" She opened her eyes at once. "I must express my love to him... I don't want him to love someone else!" Aastha's breathing became uneasy. "I will have to tell him... I will tell him today! Yes! I will tell him after the party that I love him...!!"

Shlok came out wearing the white pant, blue shirt, the white jacket and an incredible smile! His gaze was searching for someone. His sweet smile turned to a naughty one when he saw a curious Aditi waiting impatiently for his answer to her proposal. His smile told Aditi that he had seen her card. She could hear her heart beat louder. She was waiting for any signal from Shlok but Shlok had decided to trouble her a little before replying. So he purposely looked away to tease her.

Aastha and Pooja too came there after all the work was done. Aastha was glad to see that Shlok was wearing the clothes of her choice. Aditi wanted to buy a black pant, purple shirt and a black coat. But Aastha had insisted on white and blue and finally Aditi had agreed. Pooja, who was standing beside Aastha, said, "Arey waah Aastha! Shlok and your clothes are exactly matching! Is this a conincidence or... ahem ahem!!"

Aastha was surprised to notice that she too was wearing a saree with the same white-blue combination. What a coincidence! She blushed at the thought. Shlok cut the cake and everyone celebrated. Aastha's parents and Shlok's parents got along well in the party.

Shlok realised that he hadn't met Aastha yet. He was not interested in listening to what the person in front of him was saying. He looked around searching for Aastha and saw her giving instructions to the helpers. Excusing whoever was coming in his way, Shlok walked straight to Aastha. Aastha didn't notice him come. When he saw that Aastha was done with giving instructions, he purposely pushed her from behind. Her phone, which was loosely held in her hand, fell down. As she knelt down to pick it up, Shlok too knelt down saying, "Oh...I am so sorry..!" Both went for the phone at the same time. Aastha got hold of the phone and Shlok held Aastha's hand by mistake. Both looked at each other. Aastha broke the eyelock and tried to get up but Shlok didn't leave her hand and she was pulled down. Aastha looked at Shlok in shock and surprise. She looked around whether anyone was watching and then looked at Shlok again. He was just staring at her intently. Aastha tried to free her hand from his grip.

"Shlok, leave my hand... someone will see!" she said trying to pull her hand out. "Shlok..." she said in a worried tone, "What if someone sees? What are you doing?"

"Shhh..." said Shlok still staring into her eyes.

Aastha was scared now because Shlok's gaze was killing her. She felt as if Shlok would kiss her any moment and she would give in. She didn't want that to happen. And so she was scared.

"Shlok..." she said in a shivering whisper looking into Shlok's eyes. She couldn't speak more as Shlok came closer to her. She stopped struggling to pull her hand out of his. Her throat was dry as she gasped for air. Shlok parted his lips and Aastha skipped a beat. Her chest was heaving. She wanted to run away but also wanted to stay there. Her brain was telling her to get up and walk away, but her heart was telling her to live the moment. She closed her eyes as her body shivered. She could feel the closeness of Shlok.

"Beautiful...!!" she heard Shlok whisper and she opened her eyes to see Shlok still staring at her. She realised that whatever was happening was not right. Shlok could sense her discomfort. She wanted to change the topic. She suddenly stood up and Shlok too stood up with her still holding her hand.

"Sh-Shlok, I am sorry, I couldn't get any gift for you... Actually I didn't get any time to..."

Shlok cut in saying, "This is the best birthday of my life...! I don't need any other gift Aastha... I know you have worked hard to make this day special for me, and that's more than any other gift!"

Aastha smiled listening to Shlok's reply. "But I want to gift you something..." she said, "What do you want?"

Shlok smiled. "Will you give me what I want?" he asked.

"I will surely try to.." said Aastha.

"Think again... Later you shouldn't say 'no'...!!" Shlok said naughtily.

Now Aastha was not sure. What was Shlok going to ask for? She was about to say something when Rahul came there searching for Shlok. "Shlok, here you are!! I was searching for you..." said Rahul. Shlok left Aastha's hand at once and Aastha moved away from Shlok. Aditi came there who was searching for Shlok too, ofcourse for a different reason. Aditi wanted to talk to Shlok who was teasing her with his naughty looks. But she couldn't as Rahul continued to speak.

"Attention please!! Now the Birthday Boy will present a song before us!!" announced Rahul and everyone cheered and clapped for Shlok.

Shlok was surprised by the sudden announcement. He pulled Rahul closer and said in a low tone, "I am not going to sing!!" Everyone urged Shlok to sing but he was reluctant.

"C'mon Shlok... Please sing for us... please?" urged Aditi.

Shlok didn't know what to say. He looked at Aastha who was standing away. She smiled and nodded at him telling him to sing. "Okay... I will sing!!" said Shlok finally. "Yayy!!!" everyone cheered him.

"Please sing the same song yaar... It's been years since we had last heard it from you..." requested Rahul. Shlok patted on Rahul's shoulder accepting the request.

Rahul handed a microphone to Shlok and everyone gathered around Shlok to listen to the song... the song which was Shlok's favourite. Aditi stood next to Shlok. Rahul and Pooja stood next to each other holding hands, happy that today they got their old Shlok back! Varad showed a 'thumbs-up' to Rahul to say 'well done!' Sojal, Niranjan, Anjali and all people close to Shlok were very glad to see this Shlok. Aastha was eagerly waiting as she still couldn't believe that Shlok was a good singer.

There was pin-drop silence as Shlok began the song looking at Aastha...

The hall filled with applause as Shlok finished the song. Aastha fell in love with Shlok's voice. Shlok had sung the whole song looking at Aastha and he still was looking at her. Aastha had tried to hide from his gaze during the song, but his gaze followed wherever she went. Aastha felt as if Shlok had sung the song only for her and he meant every word of it. She couldn't stop blushing. Her eyes were wet in joy. It was very difficult to control her emotions. She was overwhelmed by the way Shlok expressed his feelings. Aastha wanted to tell Shlok that she loved the song very much. She began walking towards him but stopped on seeing Aditi getting too close to Shlok. Aastha was jealous but she was more hurt that Shlok didn't have any problem with that. Aastha couldn't hear the conversation between Aditi and Shlok but she could see that both were enjoying it.

Aditi couldn't wait more for Shlok's answer. "Shlok, I am waiting!!"

Shlok gave her a confused look and said, "Waiting? For what?"

Aditi gently punched on his chest knowing that he was doing it purposely. Aastha was seeing from a distance.

"Ohh... Now I remember... You have asked me something, and you are waiting for my answer, right?" he said in a naughty tone.

"Stop it yaar Shlok... I am dying here! Please tell me now! I can't wait any longer... Please please please!" urged Aditi.

"You know what my answer is, don't you?" asked Shlok with a wink.

"Yes I do!" said Aditi, her heart beating faster with joy and anticipation, "But I want to hear it from you! Please say it!!"

Shlok smiled. "Yes!!" he said.

Aditi jumped with joy. "What?!! Say it again!! Please say it again!!"

Shlok didn't know why Aditi was reacting in this way. "You knew I would say yes! Ofcourse yes!!"

Aditi gave him a quick hug saying, "Oh My God!! I don't believe it! I am the happiest person on the earth at the moment!! Thank you so much Shlok!!" and she blushed away.

Shlok was amused by Aditi's reaction. Here Aastha was green with envy. How dare Aditi hug Shlok?!! Aastha was very upset and she didn't want to talk to Shlok now.

Aditi was so happy and excited that she wanted to share her joy with someone. She found Aastha alone in a corner. She came running and hugged Aastha.

"Aastha, you know, today is the happiest day of my life!!" said Aditi not able to control her joy. Aastha smiled to show she was happy for Aditi.

"Great! May I know what happened?" asked Aastha.

"Ofcourse!!" replied Aditi in excitement, "I had proposed Shlok earlier, and a few moments ago he said 'yes'!!! Oh my God!! I am so happy!! I will go tell this to Baba!!" and Aditi left.

Aastha was stunned at her place. It took some time for her to register what Aditi just said. She felt as if the sky collapsed on her. She couldn't breathe. She was gasping for air. Her strength drained off in a moment. She felt her legs weaken. She couldn't stand. She couldn't see anything clearly. Her eyes filled with tears. She took the support of the wall behind her to avoid herself from falling. She just didn't want to believe whatever Aditi had just told her. She felt as if she would lose consciousness any moment. Her body was shivering. "This can't be true! This can't be! Shlok was mine... How can he... No... He can't leave me... Shlok... I love you!! I do... What if I didn't say it? You know it, don't you?... Don't you love me?..." Aastha was breathless. She was looking here and there madly. Gasping.

"Aastha, what happened beta? Are you okay?" Aastha hear someone say. She couldn't make out who it was through her wet eyes but she recognised her Kalindi's voice.

really nice update but really sad for Astha, I wonder what Shlok said yes to Aditi about, poor Astha feel really bad for her, hope you post the next part soon
