I just watched the first episode, and it was a delight. If there's one thing that stands out, it's the subtlety.
The side characters are typical, but, they charm you because they are honest, and there's a tongue-in-cheek quality to them. Be it Nayantaara who in a typical wifely fashion reminds Yudh that she had soaked almonds for him, or the slimey politician (Tigmanshu Dhulia) who proclaims that a friend is one who wouldn't backstab you given the opportunity, or the breezy bigdail heir, and the righteous daughter, they are all characters you would find in a "serious" piece, but have a quaint charm about themselves.
I read a few complaints that Yuddh was slow in pace, but, I couldn't feel it at all. Maybe because I was thoroughly lost in observing Amitji's face. It's like a canvas, on which a painter is drawing a masterpiece every second. You marvel it one second, and it's gone, only to be replaced by another. He's the artist as well as the painting here.
Now, I feel that the joker symbolizes Yuddh's fear. When, he's returning home, the joker signifies his fear, his fear for the 10,000 employees who work for him, what would happen to them if the news of his illness comes out, or worse what would happen to them when he dies? Again at the hospital, it signifies his fear of losing Taruni.
I feel that the person who informed him of the collapse was Anuj himself. Maybe that's why he realized it was no hoax, because it was a veiled threat by Anuj himself, brazen though it was.
Honourable mention - KK Menon. He's hardly there for about 5 minutes, but his character stays with you. There's a strength in his character, that you wouldn't find in any corrupt official.
All in all, a valiant effort and a truly entertaining one. 👏
