Bhavesh Joshi is running late, again
Vikramaditya Motwane's vigilante drama will only commence by December, thanks to Karan Johar.
Vikramaditya Motwane had originally intended to start shooting his upcoming film Bhavesh Joshi in December last year with Imran Khan playing the nightly vigilante of Mumbai, but an abrupt change in cast led to a delay.
When Sidharth Malhotra replaced Imran, Motwane thought he would be able to roll his pet project this monsoon. However, now the film has hit another roadblock.
Mirror has learnt that Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is making a film with Sidharth in the lead and it is expected to go on floors next month.
A source close to the development said: "Motwane is currently busy with the pre-production and he was hoping to get the much-delayed project back on track by July. However, KJo recently had a chat with him and told him that he required Sidharth for his film which begins around the same time."
Motwane had no option but to push his film to a later date. Added the source, "A major chunk of his time went into redeveloping the script to suit Sidharth. The team which had earlier worked on the look with Imran in mind, was also working overtime to ensure the film keeps its date with the monsoons. But now it seems they will begin only by December."
Mirror also has it that Motwane, whose last directorial release was Lootera with Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh, is contemplating making a smaller film in the meantime.
"He's mentioned it to the team several times. Unlike Bhavesh Joshi, it's a relatively easier project to pull off. He'll take a final call only when there is more clarity on Sidharth's dates," adds the source.
