It is true, though, that Madhuri was pregnant with her first child halfway through the production.

Kareena was never offered the role. She screen tested for it.

Madhuri was never considered for Paro either, she was always Chandramukhi.

Salman was the original choice for Devdas and Govinda for chunni lal. Paro and Chandramukhi were never offered to anyone else.

Kareena was never offered Paro. She screen tested but ddn't get and thats why her comments about SLB not being able to make films. lol

Never heard of Madhuri being considered for Paro. I think she was considered for HDDCS maybe. I think Kajol was too.

So glad Ash finally did it.

Bebo was first choice for devdas and HDDCS and salman for devdas. Anyways I am glad HDDCS went to aish. She nailed that role.

I don't think Kareena would have been able to do it. The delicacy and softness required for Paro's character was something Ash could only bring.

On the other end I think Sushmita would've made a way better Chandramukhi than Madhuri, I can totally see that! I always felt Madhuri looked too aunty-like to be Chandramukhi.

^But Sush doesn't have the classical training that Mads does. So her Chandramukhi would have been different. Honestly, SB nailed it with the casting of that movie.

As for the question. No it was never offered to anyone but Aish. Kareena was screen tested for but SLB couldn't visualize her as Paro. Apparently he saw this passion or fire in Aish's eyes at some party and he knew he wanted that in his Paro. And she was casted. Then Kareena made those off-hand comments about how SLB wanted "an older actress" and how he can't direct. 😆
