Donno when India will understand the importance of these places.

i completely agree! that place is close to where my roots originate, in punjab! and this place seems to be located in somebody's farm house..actually punjab govt should have done something to preserve it!..i will mention it to my cousin who is very close to the chief minister of punjab!

Before i start i declare i am NOT supporting (Lord) Curzon.😆

1. He provided financial support and institutional autonomy to the Archaeological Survey of India.
2. He passed the Conservation of Ancient Monuments Act.
3. He sanctioned Rs. 1 Lacs(110 years back😕), for conservation of Ajanta and Ellora Caves in Maharashtra and personally visited them.
4. He created the post of Director General of Archaeological Survey of India.
5. He introduced a course of Epigraphy in Indian Universities.

He was interested in Indian monuments. So he did this..!..Also, some revenue came through it.

Note :
I am ONLY sharing some info, not proving him to be a saint..!.. 😕
He did commit greatest BLUNDERs in Indian History.(leave it.🥱)

BTW, Policy of Divide n Rule flourished even before dating back to Romans - Divide eT Empera.
And, Curzon got this IDEA from a British MP named Elphinstone.

He had some connection with Akbar and MUZ also.😲 Will write later on my thread.😉
I know i should not bring "her" here. But can't resist. Since this topic started. 😆

abhay MUZ ko le aa chal dekhi jayegi..tujhe sau khoon maaf😆...tfs dear😊

When that day in the serial he was talking about religions and his people. I almost cried. His words touched my heart. He was a 16th century king and he had such great thoughts. And here in 21st century some politicians in my country used religion to play politics. Forget respecting some didn't even consider the peoples of other religion as humans. Such a same.
And he never judge people based on their religion. Loved all his prajas from all religions. Why can't be our politicians like that.
And its a shame that none of his decendeds think like him. Especially that Aurangjeb.
I sometimes think Wish I could meet him.

Same here dear! i wish i could meet this great personality and this is the very reason i went to india last year just to see his tomb!

Cleo, my dear i am always impressed by the vast knowledge u have on various subjects, curious to know your profession if u do not mind!..talking about generalization i somewhat agree..i can say about myself but then this might be being racist, i would trust the work of a cuacasian more than someone of my origin..its a sad truth!..and very well pointed by u about ethical and moral values of these people..the majority falls into that category..but the category u r reflecting upon is more to do with higher levels..there is fair amount of corruption at that level..the rules r made according to keeping all the businesses and money making ventures in mind..for example the research in cancer is so advanced that it is close to or has found cure for certain types of cancers but big pharmaceutical giants r holding on to it so that they can make their profits first..if we get into all of that there is no end..but as far as the history part we are discussing its more to do with interest and inspiration..lets say i am inspired by akbar's character if i have the time and money i will do an honest research at my level..as far as westerners are concerned they would do such things out of interest and not out of personal gains or any political gains i think...

Akbar must be turning in that serene grave that Ela posted, angry that there is someone in his own Hindustan who adores MUZ more than he himself did!😆😆😆
Nice to hear that Lord Curzon did something for Archaeology.😊
But he succeeded in creating a permanent and un-patchable divide in the land that Akbar took such pains to merge and unite.😕

Thanks Mandy. I am just a health care professional. Nothing glamourous like an archeologist, historian or a writer😊What is your profession ?
I am also impressed...you said something that most people either do not undertand or are reluctant to talk about...corruption at higher levels. And yes, for those who follow politics closely...there will be no end to this discussion.
I agree with the fact that people( who work) in the US are usually dedicated, hard working and very professional. It is this trait that makes this country great and the most powerful nation in the world. And this is what is keeping me here. I don't think I can go back and deal with issues like insubordination, corruption, reservation etc.
But things are changing...corruption in seeping into the middle and lower classes as well...a different kind...like people doing everything to exploit the system. Thanks to my profession, I get to see the whole spectrum of population...the VVIP's to drug dealers and homeless people. Things are certainly changing.
Coming back to the discussion on history, I'll try to get a list documentaries/ books/ movies that clearly show the ' biased' aspect and distorted version of facts...hopefully by this weekend. Self glorification is a huge problem. It leads to Ignorance, arrogance and denial that can now be found in all sections of the society. Sad but true. I love this country but I am not willing to be in denial and overlook the obvious changes. There is a funny picture that light heartedly reflects what I just said...will try to post it. Thanks!

coincidentally, i too am in the health care industry!..u might be right regarding corruption seeping in middle and lower classes..not so much obvious in canada yet but its there in certain areas..and lots of apne and chinke are involved in it..construction industry is one such example but still controlled to certain extent and is not that open..one thing i have noticed people r more vocal here, if anything goes wrong they r not afraid of raising any such issues in the media or otherwise...i will wait for your post regarding the sites that show unbiased historical facts😊

Correction...I meant ' biased' views...decided not to post the pic...it is funny but some may hurt some people...though unlikely but I won't take a chance😊
