As per records only one-tenth crimes are reported to police, and out of which very few dare to go ahead to try their luck in the court. In BV as well many a cases that we viewers observed, where course of events have been just like what we experience in real life.

1. Basant: Gehna had been forced into a marriage to someone as elderly as her father and constantly raped by him for months together. The case never got reported. The guy Basant who should have ended up in jail with years of imprisonment with hard labour, rather shown as a changed man and with time earned back love and respect of wife.

2. Dadisaa: who tortured almost all Bohus of BH, and had been the reason behind the death of Basant's first wife, never got any real punishment. She redeemed out of her own and the CVs nearly forgot to showcase the strong laws written in the Indian constitution to restrict such inhuman behaviour towards the daughter-in-laws. If reported within 7 years of marriage, the husband and in-laws are put behind the bars with non bailable warrant.

3. Jagdish: well I know many have soft corner for this character. Also in India a man with handsome looks, nice personality and loads of money in pocket remains lucrative to females irrespective of his all Kale Karname. Though he has been good at times, that does not justify what he did to Anandi or to his family and even with Gauri.

The Laws of Manu of ancient India: "though destitute of virtue or seeking pleasure elsewhere, or devoid of good qualities, yet a husband must be constantly worshiped as a god by a faithful wife"; on the other, hand, "if a wife, proud of the greatness of her relatives or [her own] excellence, violates the duty which she owes to her lord, the king shall cause her to be devoured by dogs in a place frequented by many (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adultery)

In modern Indian law, adultery is defined as sex between a man and a woman without the consent of the woman's husband. The man is prosecutable and can be sentenced for up to five years (even if he himself was unmarried) whereas the married woman cannot be jailed. (http://www.advocatekhoj.com/library/lawareas/divadultery/4.php?Title=Adultery+Divorce&STitle=Adultery+laws+in+India)

4. Sanchi: In case of Sanchi, I thought she should be shown in a more relistic light than how they projected her case. I always felt that Sanchi though evil, has been endowed with loads of energy which needs direction. Only that she uses that energy in causing problems in others lives. She could have been controlled long back through counselling and punishment. However her later acts have been enough to send her behind the bars. Not every problemetic child undergoes rape to calm down. They should have shown something more realistic, studying what happens to such type of girls in real life.

I agree with your points and appreciate your views !.

Very well analysed, Debbiee but BV is a fantasy tale and going by the fact that it is still the highest trp winner among serials for Colors, somehow shows a tacit acceptance of such behaviour in society. Sad but true!

Thanks guys, well I feel they have shown accurately how things work in India in case of people like Dadisaa, Basant, Jagya. For people like them things are forgiven and forgotten easily.
However Sanchi's case is very unique. Rape is something which can happen to almost anyone. They should have tried to show Sanchi's transformation in a much more practical way.
