Now that the hype around Chennai Express's dream run is slowly beginning to settle down, tongues are wagging amongst Bollywood insiders about the Rs. 250 crores number being exaggerated. Insiders are claiming that the King Khan was keen on beating the 3 Idiots record of Rs. 190 crores which was built up over a long four month run across theatres nationwide. Srk, therefore, added the meagre 5 crores made from Chennai Express in Tamil to his actual gross of Rs. 202 crores, to overshadow Aamir Khan's record. The production company too further exaggerated the numbers, as per the hush-hush khabar. And voila! Chennai Express was said to have broken all Box Office records by tucking in a whopping Rs. 250 crores (wink wink!).

A few months later, Rakesh Roshan had announced that Krrish 3 has grossed more than Rs. 500 crores. And SRK was not too pleased with Rakesh's hype around Krrish 3 beating Chennai Express's record.

But then, even Krrish 3 numbers were exaggerated, right? Perhaps that is the latest norm in the fim industry, or so it seems.
