Part 6
She tried hard to keep her emotions in check till Shaina and Grandpa were awake. She herself washed the dishes that day so she could stay more into the kitchen rather than standing beside Shaina and Grandpa and hear their excited chatters about how the dinner went and how amazing Arjun and his friends are. "Arjun? Damn you Arjun" She cursed him. Only he could do that to her. She had not yet celebrated the re-union with her friends when Arjun dropped a bomb on her. "Is he developing feelings for her?" was the question that crossed her mind to many times. Shaina was her cousin and somewhere, Arohi loved her too as a little sis that she would find in her. Shaina will confide in her many times about her problems, her crushes that would make Arohi feel loved even if it for a minute. But then she also knew, Shaina does that as she couldn't talk to Grandpa about it. And no matter how far found that love is, She doesn't wish to see her with Arjun. After being done with her chores, Arohi rushed towards her room and fall flat on the bed. Her tears seemed to dent a permanent camp in her eyes. She cursed him some more and cried when finally she looked up and her found a neatly folded paper placed on her side table. "Who put it here?" She wondered while sitting straight and wiped her tears in a childlike manner. She took hold of the note and opened it up.
"My Lifetime Best Friend Arohi,
I don't know to start this letter and what should I write. Should I tell you that how much your friendship always mean to me or should I tell you that after you left, I couldn't dare make a new best friend as no one was You. Should I tell you how miserable life had got to be for us after my parent's death or from how long I have been trying to search for you."
Her eyes filled up thinking about her ever so smiling and lovable Rudra Uncle and Kumud Aunty. They were always so nice to her. Arohi used to love to spend days with Arjun Rashi's family on their farmhouse which they make sure to visit once or twice in a month. Playing around and sharing a bed with Rashi, while they both use to chat till half of the nights were some amazing days of her life. Rudra always made sure that Arohi get the same love and affection from him as Rashi get and Kumud, her love was a bonus over the love of her own mother. "Those were the times I used to feel so lucky" She thought and saddened. But brushing away those thoughts, she again started reading the note.
"But I surly want to tell you that now as I have finally found you, I am not going to lose my friend for any reason. I and Rashi had missed you a lot. You were always a part of our discussions, our memories, our thoughts, our prays...You were missed and you friendship was cherished."
"I missed you too Arjun and Rashi...I missed you too... There was not a day when I have not prayed to meet you once again" She mumbled and hugged the letter before pulling it back and read further.
"And before you think otherwise, I want to tell you that I am NOT INTERESTED in your cousin. You have to trust me on that. And there is not going to be a change of heart ever. Whatever I must have said or did tonight is just a play. I don't know how you will feel about it but I, Rashi and my friends are here to take you away. Just keep a little faith is us. I don't want to hurt you at any point but if I did, I am sorry for it.
Your best friend (if still that's me ;))
Arjun Punj"
The way he wrote Arjun Punj, full name, not just Arjun, told her that he hasn't change over the years. "Arjun Punj...Ever so arrogant" She giggled at her own joke when she looked down at the corner of the note.
"Turn the page for a little info~>"
Arohi wondered what it would be as she turned the page and her eyes wide opened.
"No 1: If you are wondering who put the note, that's my bodyguard.
No 2: Your room has been mobbed. My bodyguard had hid a censor in it through which I can hear everything you have said just now ;) hahahhaha...
So talk carefully from now on ;)"
Her mouth fell open reading it before her eyes frantically looked around to find something. She jumped down from her bed and started to look around her room to find the censor but couldn't find anything. Frustrated, she just holds her hairs.
"Arghhh...I hate you Arjun Punj...I hate you" She shouted just to let him know.
On the other side, Arjun heard her words through the earpiece and laughed out loud. Aryan and Rajveer, who were sitting beside him, were unaware of the words he heard just now. Curious, Rajveer patted Arjun's leg in askance. "She said I hate you Arjun" and started to laugh again. Both friends felt relieved to see him laughing out loud after such a long time. "I would rather have been happy to hear her say I love you to you" Aryan spoke out casually and winked in Rajveer's way as they both saw Arjun going red with blush. He smiled fondly. "One day, she will say that too...but till then, I can do with her 'I Hate You's'"
Next morning, After Akshay left for his office and Shaina to spa to get herself pampered, Arohi too took the opportunity and left a little earlier to her dancing school. It was still 10am and her first class wasn't about till 12, so she decided to do a little practice for herself but ultimately automatically proved out to be her way to release her anger. She put a classical song on the speakers and let her feet move her through the empty hall, she used to train her students in. The dupatta was crossed and tied to her waist. Her hairs were roughly caught into a pony tail but they fell open with the intensity of her dance. She jumped, moved around the hall but when her feet were attuned to the beats, her emotions and hands were not. Just thinking about Arjun to go out on a DATE with Shaina was boiling her up. Damn It. Isn't he her's friend? And what he wrote in that stupid letter. All through the time, she didn't realize that Arjun was out their standing at the ajar door and looking at her with appreciation. His eyes didn't left her sight even for a minute. She was graceful, there was no doubt. But he too knew dancing a bit and could make out her extra effort in it. He knew she was angry and he didn't expect any less from her. Like Always. He thought.
Right from the start they both had a different way to look at a situation. When he would be boiling with rage or anger, she would be cool as cucumber and vice versa. There were rare times that they both acted similarly in a situation and that happened mostly, when it involves their families.
Arohi took a long round and fell down on her knees. The music finished just with that. Her face was covered with the wet sweaty hairs. Her breathing was heavy. She took deep breaths to get her body temperature normal before she get up and went towards the plank benches, placed on the sides. Taking out her water bottle, she splashed some water on her face before drinking a bit. "Nice dance...but don't you think, it was a little aggressive?" Arjun startled her with his presence but soon those expressions changed to anger as she looked away and started to put her things, back in the bag. "What are you doing here? Why aren't you getting yourself pampered for your most awaited lunch date?" No hesitation, no fumbling of words. She was just so comfortable and just so herself with him right now. Arjun raised his brow in amusement while approaching her. "Is that what Shaina went to do? Damn, she really want to look her best for the DATE" He emphasis in the end to see her looking daggers at him for a moment. "Then why don't you do the same and get to a men salon too" So childlike. By now he was too close to her. Holding her arm, he pulled her with such a force that she turned and end up hitting his chest. Arjun slowly removed her sweaty hairs from her face with his two fingers as he whispered. "Perfection doesn't need to be mended. I am perfect, you are perfect and so is this moment" His voice did hold the same effect on her as last night. She literally shivered in his arms. Her mouth fell open. She eyes were engrossed in his ones till she realized the closeness and back away two steps to compose her features. Being so close to him, physically, was not so good. She somehow looses her sense to think. She turned away and took out a water bottle from her bag. "What are you doing here?" She asked once again. "I just came to see how much you hate me after what I said last night" His tone was still a teasing one. "I don't want to see your face...that's how much I hate you...Got your answer...now please leave. I have to make preparations for my class" She was still hurt. "YEAH I CAN SEE THAT YOU DONT WANT TO SEE MY FACE BUT STILL MELTED IN MY ARMS A MINUTE BACK" Arjun wanted to say but then choose otherwise. He wouldn't push her to acknowledge her feelings. "Ok baba... Once again all I will say is, just trust me Arohi. Hurting you anyway is the last thing that I will ever do. But for now, I do have someone with me who can cheer you up" Arohi narrowed her eyes till she saw Rashi entering the hall with a huge smile. Arohi's own frown disappeared as wide breathtaking smile took place on her lips and the both friends, run the small distance before hugging each other tightly. "OMG RASHI" Arohi squealed with happiness as she break th hug, look at her friend before again hugging her. Rashi was equally elated to see the warm response of her best friend as Arjun whose even eyes were smiling along with his lips. "I have to talk so much with you" "Me too" Both friends murmured before Arjun approached them. "I didn't get such warm response...how rude" He fakely pouted. Rashi grinned as Arohi put an arm around her waist and look at Arjun with a frown. "You deserved that" Rashi showed her tongue to tease him more as he sulked and wiped his tears fakely."Guess there is no long lost love...poor me" The girls giggle hearing his childish tone before he went ahead and kissed both of their forehead Before gis departure. Arohi was taken aback by his action but then was back to anger as she heard him say "I have to leave now for my Date" He winked and ran away before he could be aim of Arohi's sandals for teasing her so much. "Rashi, Roy is outside...be careful ok" He shouted at his back. As he left, a little awkwardness appears in the air as both friends tried to think of a start. "You teach dance...I never thought you will take up this occupation" Rashi asked as Arohi took out her ghungrus from the bag and zipped it up. "I always wanted to do something with art. You do remember how I was always a part of dance classes right? But then I know that one can't earn a good living by just dancing so I took up fine arts and now I am doing my masters in painting" Arohi sit down and smiled at Rashi. "What you are doing?" "Fashion designing...I have my own small boutique" "You know I never saw this teasing side of him till today right after from the time you left. He was teasing me but It was never like this...He missed you and so do I" Her tone was serious. Arohi's eyes welled up as she get up and hugged Rashi tightly. "I missed you both too...too much at times" caressing her back, she continued "I am sorry about Uncle and Aunty...never knew that life was too unfaithful to them" "No one can do anything Arohi when it comes to death... we are all helpless in this matter" "I know" Both kept on hugging eachother for a moment before Rashi broke it and wiped her tears as well as her own. "Enough of sappy teary drama...If bhai would have get to know that you were still crying after he left, he will kick me...so lets just end it" Arohi smiled at her tone. "You want to take a look around this dancing center" "Will love to" and holding hands in hands, Arohi led Rashi out to show her around.
Arjun kicked a lone road side stone in happiness. Seeing her, having her in his arms, he felt like he has crossed a big level in his life. If her anger was endearing, her disappointing look to hear about his date with her cousin was a cherry on the top. He does understand that its a foolish idea to think that she does love him too. She was just 14, when she left. She was novice and friendship was all with which she used to look at him but he know that she will fall for him. He will make her fall for himself but he was not in hurry to. "Let her take her sweet little time and till then, I will cherish these moments with her..." He thought happily as he get into the car and braced himself to meet Shaina. He has to be careful with her because she was the trump card that he have till now.
If Arjun would have gone to police, nothing good would have come out from it as Mr. Sharma would have got himself release in a few hours and beside for a few days gossips, he wouldn't had any effect on his life. That's what people do and act on the phrase "Raat gaye, baat gaye" But Arjun wanted a long life suffering for him and he will make sure Mr. Akshay Sharma get the one.
Rashi and Arohi had a few awkward moments in the day like when Arohi's students arrive and she was forced to excuse herself from Rashi but Rashi made her comfortable by sitting quietly at a corner and observing her grown up friend. She giggled along with her students but otherwise, she was a strict teacher when it comes to dance. She would help a student when she was not able to take the correct 'MUDRA' for a step. She had patience to listen up and was understanding. "Quite different from her childhood. But guess life taught her enough lessons that have her molded like this..." She thought. On the other hand, Arohi was too conscious of Rashi's gaze too. It was after ages that she felt herself observed by someone. Last time she checked, her mother used to do that whenever Arohi would hide something from her. All through her class, though she tried to concentrate on her students but all she was able to think in between was what she should talk with Rashi, how to start a topic and how to fall back in that comfort zone that they used to share once. She desperately wanted to open up her life, her feelings with her but at the same time, she was feeling awkward. Those 11 years distance has done that to their friendship but she was equally adamant to get back her friends and sh know that they were too, so satisfied, she dismissed the class. Rashi and Arohi came out from the podium to be greeted by Roy. "You will go to your university now, right. Come on, let me drop you off" Rashi offered but Arohi was as usual of her nature, hesitated. "It's no problem Rashi, I can go myself". "What problem? Don't be stupid Arohi...I will drop you and that's it...In this way, I will also get to spend a few more minutes with you" her tone was emotional at the end that melted Arohi's heart and she agreed. "Ok" But right then they heard a man, wearing a faced cover helmet, calling out for Arohi in the back. The bike, on which he was sitting, stopped right beside the girls. While Rashi looked at the new entry with a confused face, Arohi just smiled slowly at the man. "Are you ready to leave for the university? I got late again" He said and put off his helmet to look at Arohi with a cute smile. Next he held his ears and in a childlike manner said "Sorry". Arohi just got embarrassed and pat his hand to remove it. "No need to say sorry Dhruv. You are not late. Actually, today I am leaving for the university with my best friend. Remember I used to tell you about Rashi...Finally I found her" Where Rashi found fondness in Arohi's eyes, she found a strange chilly emotion covering up Dhruv's face before he suddenly smiled and put forward his hand. "Hi, I am Dhruv...Arohi's current best friend" But his smile was saying something else. Rashi frowned for a moment but then, being Stubborn an Possessive Arjun Punj's sister, she too bring those qualities in herself and shook his hand. "Hi, I am Rashi...Arohi's life time best friend" and that was enough to set this game up.
