I have finished reading the novel .
Raman and Ishita getting the custody of Ruhi is the climax of the novel .
However they got it 3 years after their marriage .
They started to date before getting married and their marriage was just registration and none of the family members were present. Raman lived separately from his family .
Shagun and Ashok went back to USA . The son - Arjun (in serial Aditya) was quite important part of the story. He supported his mom and hated Ishita , whereas as shown in the serial, Ruhi was very fond of Ishita .
Arjun looked like his mother whereas Ruhi was a carbon copy of Raman.
So I guess from now on whatever story YHM would follow - is coming from Ekta creatives.
