😊
Hello Friends
today is International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on 21st February. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity all across the world. It was first announced by UNESCO on November 17, 1999. Since then it is being celebrated every year. The date represents the day 21st February 1952 when four young students were killed in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, because of Bengali and Urdu language controversy. Languages are the most powerful way to preserve and develop culture and to promote it all across the world. Because of this unfortunate incident, International Mother Language Day is celebrated in all over the world, while it is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
International Mother Language Day is celebrated in memory of the four students who were killed while fighting for their mother language and is celebrated to tell them that we will never forget their sacrifices.

Hey Manu you are back, awesome post and required post in today's age, where people consider not knowing english as inferior.
So unfortunate that in our country we give so much of thrust and importance to English and neglect our own mother language. Ridiculing if people cant speak english.

👏👏 In wake of that it is awesome post

We love our mother language and respect others language as well. We celebrate IMLD worldwide to increase cross-cultural communication and international friendship.

The International Mother Language Day (IMLD) will be observed today (Friday) with the theme Local languages for global citizenship: spotlight on science', while a special rally in favour of local languages will be organised in the city Mumbai !

We face a global crisis of language endangerment ! Many of the estimated 6000 languages

Currently spoken will not survive in to the 22nd century !

On Friday, Feb. 21st we will celebrate IML Day .A new hashtag for your tweet, and a better one for indigenous languages is on it's way !

Losing a language means losing a tremendous intellectual repository and so much more !

Language encodes cultural practices, and traditional knowledge about plants, animals, weather and healing !

The loss of a language is profound !

Just imagine being unable to speak with your grand parents in their language. Imagine being unable to pray with your parents in your language !

Imagine having no songs in your language to sing your children to sleep !

Language is intensely personal, familial, cultural, and sacred !

Thanks for the post.😊 There is a general consensus that english is an universal language, it binds us globally . This is proving to be a myth as most of the european countries like Germany , Sweden and many more also China, Japan pay emphasis on their mother tongue ,some of them are having their mother language as an official language. However the scenario is changing with the culture of MNC swiftly overtaking the economy. Still in a country like Germany it is extremely helpful if we know the local language. The Germans gets so overwhelmed to hear a foreigner speaking in german though in broken words are ready to render all support and hospitality.
India is a country of Unity in Diversity, rich in culture language and social customs. We should respect the rich heritage of our country and as a first step we should respect our mother tongue.
