Chapter 17 -A
Reading the letter all Jai could think of is he would see his son's face for the first time… Bani was too emotional to realize there was a pic…an actual pic of her son…..her and Jai's ………..Both were too lost in their own emotions to even comprehend the enormity of what they had just been told….they both looked into each others eyes before they both turned to look at the picture in Bani's hand…………Bani now started crying again……tears flowing eyes filled with love and longing…Jai was not different….but he quickly recovered as he hugged Bani and kissed her forehead….He had to make sure his family was complete soon…….
Meanwhile RB and Balwant hearing all the commotion come into the room to find Jai and Bani huddled together crying looking at some picture…."Jai puttar….whats wrong ?" as Balwant started praying thinking something really bad had happened….."Jai Bani beta kuch bolo…………………………" he said angrily …….."Papa Karan………" Bani told them as she pushed the photo in front of them.."Karan………………" RB too could not hold his tears as he got the first glimpse of his grandson…."Balwant dekh sada pota………" Balwant came running to see the picture……….
Jai and Bani smiled through their tears as they saw the grandparents discuss and enjoy seeing their grandson in the photo…Dadi was already comparing him to Jai and RB was just smiling away thinking he had a beautiful grandson….It was a sight to see……….the entire family bonding over their most priced possession….
Jai meanwhile realized that he needed to act if he was going to get his son in his house soon…….He quickly picked his cellphone and started dialing Jaz's number….She needed to be updated….no she needed to start working on the new leads quickly….Jaz: "Sure Jai thanks a lot……This is great…I'll get on it pronto." "Thanks Jaz, I am trusting you to give me some news really soon........"
Jai had a smile on his face as a he made the next call…There was someone else who needed to know he was a Dad…..now….Someone very close to him………………Someone who always brought a smile to his face…………He quickly dialed her number as he stood in the verandah watching Bani with his parents…Bani had this aura about her which made her look angelic….her face looked happy and yet there was this longing………….Jai heard a voice that brought a huge grin on his face........"Oh hi Jai….whats up sweetheart…." Jai: "Why can't I call you…."
"No its not that you usually call me in the evening never in the middle of the day and have missed listening to your happy voice……………I love a lot u know that na………." "Yah now stop buttering me up……………Love you tooooo………."
17-B
"I have some exciting news to share with you sis"………."Jai u better tell me now……U know I donot like waiting …….and you donot want me to go into labor right here remember …….Pushkar is not at home right now so tell me…"
"Sis I am a dad………." Pia :"Jai I didn't understand…….U mean you and Bani are having a baby ……….I am so happy for you……..Finally we …" Jai :" Di……..no we have a son………."Then Jai proceeded to tell her about Karan and the rest of it…………..Pia was crying so loud now that Jai was scared it would send her into labor…."Di I need to hang up….. Will talk to you soon………………"
The next couple of days were hectic as Jai spent all his time looking for his son with Jaz……Jaz was amazed by his determination……..he had not slept a wink for the past couple of nights and today when she told him about the breakthrough…..He seemed as fresh as ever…….his killer smile could send anyone's heart into doing summersaults….And she was captivated by his smile……
Jai sprinted back home to tell everyone that they had found him…….their joy their life was living in Chicago…………..And he had already called the pilot to fuel in the Learjet…They had a long flight to take…………the flight which would change their destiny……………………
As expected everyone wanted to be on the flight….But Jai knew finding his son was only half the battle….a long road remained to be traveled before they were one with their son…………..Bani too had been wondering actually worrying about who his adoptive parents were and if they had taken good care of their baby……A baby she thought she had lost years back……..She was hoping that meeting Karan would make her accept that her parents had done their best and come to terms with them….She could never forgive them for taking him away…….It was her choice to make……they had taken it away from him……..Who knows what could have been…….but here she was now a few steps away from her destiny……….her life which she had dreamed about was about to become a reality……..or not……….She was lost on the flight……in her own thoughts as Jaz and Jai decided how to proceed…..(Yes Jaz u are going to Chicago to get ready…….) Jai's eyes traveled towards Bani, he could feel her anxiety and fear…along with a sense of peace …..Karan was alive and that's what mattered right now…..Being a realist he thanked God for giving him this opportunity to meet his son………and once he found him he was not letting either of them go out of sight and life ever again………….
