Ofcourse these blouse are more expensive as they are made with the padding so women do not need to wear undergarment and keeps things in place..What is odd is the Purvi is wearing these latest fashion expensive blouses with regular cotton sarees when they are really fighting for money..Living in RD district which is not a safe one to begin with..

I personally do not have problems with backless blouse but I prefer them not on daily bases wearing around the house but more apt for the parties.
Agree with you on that horsehair wig which does not even match with her hair color needs to be thrown out and pronto..Looks hideous..
Many parts of India women wear backless blouses as that is part of their cultural garb and not a fashion. IE Rajasthan, Villages of Gujarat etc...
But Mumbai type big cities women wear backless blouses in parties only..
BTW u saw on SC few days back Kumud's blouse string had come untied and how guys on the street were looking at her...
Purvi goint to ROshni camp with this blouse...who wears these to doctors appts or to sabji walas?? 😳
My 2 cents on this subject..
ADD: I see 16 yrs young or 80 yrs old wearing same type of blouses with strings not so much back less but deep cut with strings which is not for all age women IMHO..

Totally Agree!!I live on the western side of the world, which is supposedly modern. I wear shorts, tops and sometimes skirts, but Never walking on the street or on public transport,( I hardly go by such mode) only by car and going from place to place not where there is no crowd. I don't even wear shorts that often, unless it is to selective places, mainly the beach.
In my country, decent girls don't wear exposing clothes walking on the street or on public transport only by car. It is the rules of society. Anything backless is worn to a party.
So, this is not just a India thing, this is international, only certain girls wear such clothes in public like that. Just like in India, you get unwanted attention in my country for wearing such clothes.

Some people just love to argue for hours without any logic or sense. We shd just walk away from the argument. They will always brand Purvi cheap even though shes wearing decent Indian sari-blouse yet truth is Ovi wears western clothes like short dresses, skirts etc. on Mumbai streets and gets away with everything...even being a drunkard is forgiven. 😕
BTW Teju also wears jeans and tops on Mumbai streets and goes without cars to the market, but I guess shes Archu's biological daughter so thats forgiven for her too.😕
Anyway Ovi will be out of the show very soon after Purvi Arjun reunite. The focus will be on Archana-Manav and their other kids then. Thank God for that!

You just defended India fine, I respect you wanting to defend your country, but in the same breath you are insulting another country (reference to country with Catholics and protestants going against each other)????. ..You are hilarious...

Your reference to India being the Best, is obviously a personal opinion, not something to impose on others by putting down another country.

You are the one who obviously needs warning.

When did I criticize Indian culture ? What sort of a joke is this ?
Please ask someone older than you if wearing a backless blouse in public is okay ? When you are dealing with people from all classes ?
I am NOT criticizing any culture here
And who are you to warn me ?
If that's the culture of India of wearing backless blouses etc
Then I don't know why many people in other tv shows etc are criticizing the person wearing it ? Why do they say its revealing ?
If a certain part of your body is showing and you have a good figure and good face too it's obvious you will attract the wrong attention
As I said before Purvi is not a high society lady
She is living in a chawl with ordinary people , riding by a rikshaw, going to bazaars
When you guys are talking about Teju
Teju wears jeans too and shirt too
But show me one place where she wore anything revealing at all
:S

here inspite of being so many religions, regions, cast we r one!! So dont blame ANY PART OF INDIA!! WE WONT TOLERATE! AS PER THE POST IT IS CLEARLY THE FASHION OF BENGAL! U CANT SIMPLY INSULT LIKE THAT! IT WOULD COST U A LOT!!

Yeah man totally you're one , and that's why you leave no opportunity to blame people without a valid reason , even if they never said anything like that !
I commented here before to defend the viewpoints presented by people who pallavi25 were talking about
And WHY they talked about Purvi's backless blouses
We didn't say okay it's completely unethical to wear these blouses
What we said is there is a place and occasion for everything
And just because something is the trend it's not right
That's that.

Pallavi,

You are too serious about a tongue in cheek effort, my dear!😉

Purvi used to repeat her salwar suits endlessly even when she was not married. Our gang, Archana, Janhvi, Jyothi, and a few others, once offered to get up a collect to replenish her wardrobe, and there was much rejoicing when she suddenly lucked out and was seen in a couple of new outfits, one blue and the other pink😉. I am told Archana supplies her own wardrobe.

What I do not know is why all these extra wigs for Purvi; in the old days there was only one lamentable bump at the back, and on the odd occasions when they forgot to insert it, she looked much prettier!

It is not that there were no blouses at all till the 1800s or the 1900s, though that might have been the case in parts of India. I have it from my grandma, and she from hers They, I was told, used to wear a blouse with long sleeves, with one button at the top in front and the lower ends knotted together. Widows did not wear any blouse, and they also had shorn heads in those old days. My paternal grandma shaved her head, but no one else in the family after her did that, thank God!

As for medieval fashions, as regards the Mughal times (16th/17th centuries) and even earlier, we have concrete evidence in the miniature paintings, of both the Mughal school and the Rajasthani and the Pahari schools. What they wore then was, as you would remember from those paintings, like the chaniya choli now in Rajasthan, and a much heavier top dress in the Mughal areas, like Saswati Sen in kathak costume. The latter was the Islamic influence. That was naturally well before the memsahibs landed up, with their frumpy Victorian dress sense.

In ancient times, though there seems to be, as far as I am aware, no irrefutable evidence like the miniature paintings, the traditional dress seems to have been was what was called a koochabandham, like a bikini top, and the lehenga below, with or without a dupatta. That is why the classical statues in the old temples show the women in a koochabandham, that is when they were not shown as topless.

Of course they were more up front about their bodies in the days of Kalidasa, which was the 5th century AD, Or at least so the temple sculptures would have you believe, though there seems to be no other independent sartorial evidence. Why, if one read Kalidasa's very explicit descriptions of the female form, one would be shocked!

It is not a question of right and wrong at all, but of individual choice.

As for the 'if you have it, flaunt it 'approach, that is fine by me. But personally,I think that it is what is hinted at, and now shown, now hidden, is more tantalising than full on exposure. Though I still have quite a decent looking back, I would not wear a backless blouse, even to a party. The saree can be a very sensual garment if one wants it to be, with as much as 18 inches shown between a tiny blouse and a low hip saree, and to my mind, a backless blouse is a tad in your face and thus unnecessary.

For once, I hasten to add that this is my opinion, and I have nothing against those want to strut their stuff wherever! If they would only spare me the rolls of fat! But they never do😉.

I agree with you on aesthetics and the necessity of having the figure to carry off such blouses as well as tight jeans.
Archu carried it off well, Purvi has done it too. And I assure u the friends of mine who do wear such blouses can carry it off too without rolls hanging out! 😆
Tailor does charge more for fancy designs and ladies with a penchant for fashion dont mind spending those extra bucks for it. We women are so vain!
My view is if u have the figure for it, go ahead and wear it! Same as yours...
As for Purvi's lack of wardrobe, you must remember she and Onir are practically penniless now. She probably brought those 2-3 blouses from Kolkata when she came, not expecting her stay to be prolonged thus. Im sure when Onir starts earning she will buy more matching blouses with her saris. 😆 Shes not a pampered rich girl like Ovi, you know. Who never repeats her dresses and thus gains more appreciation for her style. 😉
In the long run, its the decision of Balaji stylists, which actress they dress stylishly and which actress they make frumpy with bad wigs and same blouses.
Oh God, I think I do remember Priya wearing backless in BALH...I dont want to say anymore..😆

I dont think its that difficult to tie the strings and hooks urself if its the blouse type worn by Purvi, not the cholis which have strings throughout. Like slip on the blouse, hook the bottom like u would for innerwear and tie the string at the nape.

Blouseless wasnt a fashion in 1800s and early 1900s...blouses were not invented yet so women went blouseless. Simple logic.

BTW some women in villages still go blouseless simply because they are too poor to buy a blouse.
What would u say about Kalidasa's times? When women wore those off the shoulder seductive blouses? I guess people were not so self conscious abt their bodies in those times and women were more bold in dressing, they openly flaunted their full figures as seen in the sculptures of Konark and Khajuraho.

@waneeka: leave the lion's den sweetie. You will be torn into pieces here. Don't worry it's so obvious that this post was made into a mountain out of a molehill. Clearly this post was dragged because someone twisted your words and gave another meaning to what you wrote, quoted you non-stop and rained you with personal attacks. If they disagree, fine, that's normal.. But what is the need to personally attack you for your views? You didn't insult bengal or india in your post but was made to look that way because someone twisted your words. You only wrote your pov about purvi's clothes, sanskar and how she dress up but you were attacked and bashed for it. So pathetic when people twist a fellow member's words just to prove a point. So pathetic when people drag the post and accuse others and say they love to argue for hours without logic and sense as if all their views make sense! Yes, for herself it does and to her followers LOL... i think she forgot that majority of the comments here were made by her and yet she points out to other people... But her own self, exempted! As if she did not fill all the pages with her non-sense 🤪

Just leave it waneeka. Let the mods take it from here. I'm sure i'd be getting a violation for this but It's ok. I just couldn't stand seeing a member bashed for a simple issue that was made to look like a big crime coz someone twisted your words just to prove a point that encouraged other members to step in and bash you even more. If you said something negative about asha or rithvik regarding their looks or their personal life, you wouldn't see me in this thread coz i would think you deserve to be bashed. But i don't see anything in your post that makes you deserving of any personal attack. Just try to ignore waneeka.

Thanks at least someone understands me I am so glad
I might be banned from this forum soon too
Because of opposing views from majority
But I would rather be banned than be wrongly accused of something I haven't done !
