Kalapi dearest,
Where is your memory failing, I would like to know? You had all your Vedic gods all right and tight, I just added a couple. I can see why you had top scores in History! Now be a good girl, and don't fish for compliments, however well deserved!😉
As for the new revisionist theory wrt the Aryan invasion of India, this is what is called
the cultural transformation thesis. So the two rival theories can be summed up as follows:
- The Aryan migration thesis that the Indus Valley groups calling themselves 'Aryans' (noble ones) migrated into the sub-continent and became the dominant cultural force. Hinduism, on this view, derives from their religion recorded in the Veda along with elements of the indigenous traditions they encountered.
- The cultural transformation thesis that Aryan culture is a development of the Indus Valley culture. On this view there were no Aryan migrations (or invasion) and the Indus valley culture was an Aryan or vedic culture.
The second theory is of course strongly supported by those who are more comfortable with the idea that Hinduism is indigenous to the subcontinent and not an Indo-European mixture. It is buttressed by the fact that there does seem to be archaeological continuity in the subcontinent from the Neolithic period.
But far more interesting and conclusive is the latest research by a scientific team that has completely debunked the Aryan-Dravidian thesis (and by inference the Aryan invasion thesis as well), and proved that people all over India have the same genetic traits. Here is a link to a recent article about that from a prominent Indian newspaper.

I have also had it sent to you by e-mail.
Now to make this on topic! I was glad to see that Punni the Python is so tech savvy; I like to see girls being handy with gadgets. And she had hidden her spare SIM in a corner of a jewellery case, under the hook for the earring. So, even if the fat faced Pradeep (?) were to trace the sender of those tantalising photos (there were 2 at least, so she must have sent him a whole photo folder, to make sure) he would not be able to make out that it was Punni. Now I cannot even locate the SIM in my cellphone, of which I am duly ashamed, but I was pleased to see the smoothness with which she switched the SIMs. Probably has had a lot of practice.
Lastly, all that stage whispering going on between Archana, her mother, and later Manju as well, would have been enough to alert any potential samdhan, even if she was half asleep, to the fact that something was badly wrong. Just as every single character in these serials first produces a lo...ong guilty pause before uttering a whopper of a lie, a pause long enough to stir suspicion in the most trusting of mortals.Latest example: Purvi and that dangerously shrewd kaki the day before. who asks her which month she is at. And this when Purvi has had all of 6 months to polish up the appropriate lie!
And how come she is always described as still being only 6 months away from her departure from Mumbai? This is of a piece with her being still stuck at 19, like Markandeya at 16.
Purvi must be at least 23, with all her oft praised education and over 3 years of work at OVT and its predecessor, plus the several months of not working before she bolted, plus the 7 months after she bolted. It is high time all these young people were put at their (near) correct ages. Ovi must be over 21, at that. She and Teju were at least 2 when Manav carried them off to Canada, then 18 years there, and they have now been back in Mumbai for WELL over a year.
Oh well, I keep repeating this, and yet the 'teenagers' theory for Ovi, Teju and Purvi never dies. This is what is called a hardy perennial!

Shyamala darling,
Thanks for correcting me on the Vedic God. It is a shame that my memory is failing these days, especially about Indian history, and to think I had one of the top scores in history in my board exams, truly am ashamed 😡
But, I thought the primary Vedic Gods were the 4 earthly elements ' fire, rain, earth and wind ' as you say, to a nomadic tribe those were the forces to reckon with. I guess I truly need to go back and re-read the history books. As for the Aryan invasion theory, could you enlighten/pm me, please? Just not sure what you mean by the theory being discarded. Thanks dear again.
