Hi Varsha darling, no I haven't watched the episode. Will see if I can look it up on youtube. I do know, of the many theories of how the early human might have migrated out of Africa and their possible route, one was through to be the sea route as oppose to a land one, and was hypothesized that the early humans might have just crossed the Indian Ocean to get to India - can't remember exactly the context, if there was any specific DNA evidence for the theory that put the Tamil population closer to the African ancestor by a degree or so. Although, I think the sea route was mostly discarded because at that time crossing a big ocean was thought to be tougher task with pre-historic boats and unsophisticated tools, not to mention that being on an open sea is much more dangerous and life threatening than on a land.

No, Varsha, for I have been in India during that period and we cannot get PBS here. However, I will ask my brother in NH, who is an aficionado of such recondite subjects, and he might even have recorded it already and thus be in a position to let me see it. If not, I will ask him to keep a sharp lookout for it.It sounds fascinating; thanks a lot for having flagged it for us.

Warm regards.

Shyamala

Hey folks here is the link to the documentary I saw called "Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey" You can find it on YOUTUBE ..There are 13 parts to the documentary..
Started from Africa and ended up in australia many countries they went thru but it traced back to Africa...There were 300 some people were tested for DNA tracing-mapping in Tamilnadu from what my memory tells me and this one person was traced with first human DNA..Very interesting documentary..
I am simply going by my memory...😳
