if he had an ounce of sense he would have listened to the gossip and wondered

I hope the cats r there when Purvi's secret is revealed .

nope, the cat only serves one purpose😃 glorifying the saints in PR Land 😉
Btw, why is Purvi even now wearing saree Bong style, seriously I thinking seeing Purvi, even bongs will be ashamed that they don't sport the style that regularly 😃

Varsha, it is a deal, I will kidnap you both😃, and actually both of you will probably the happiest victims in this case🤗. And we can sit around and talk all about our mythological stories and vent about PR land without wondering when the next warning strikes from the blue😉

Even, I never heard about Asok Sundari, In fact, we believe that Lakshmi and Saraswati are Durga's 2 daughters along with Ganesh and Kartikeya.

Btw, I am yet to see a Bong damad like Onir running around like Ramu kaka and Sambhu dada combined😃, of course, I talk about real life 😆

And what is this big issue about yellow saree yaar😊'its only a saree worth a few thousands rupees, why everyone has to make such a huge issue...don't in PR LAnd, ppl do things to make others simply happy and be happy simply for happiness sake😃

I just want to know why is Purvi always eavesdropping on Ovi's conversations. When Ovi and Arjun are talking, she is listening outside their bedroom door.

Now she sees Ovi talking to Onir, she comes to listen in. Seriously what the hell is really wrong with Purvi? Doesn't Purvi know that there is something called doctor-patient confidentiality? Can't Onir remind her of that and ask her what is her obssession of listening in to others' conversations.

Hi all you young ladies!
Good to see sanity here-thank you Dabulls fot directing me to this thread! I've been studiously avoiding PR forum since the WLs were raised!

Since ks talked of Indian Mythology you might want to read Amish Tripathi's The Shiva Trilogy(for the Myth of Shiv DUH?) before KJo turns it into candy floss! And A palace of Dreams by Chitra Devakaruni for the Mahabharat as seen through the eyes of Draupadi. The Trilogy is badly written with turgid prose but the sweep & the story is breathtaking and conversely Devakaruni's language is better but the sweeping grandeur is missing.

PS=You showed interest in Mythology so this obsessive intrusion-pardon the presumption-the teacher in me pushed relentlessly!!And unlike Kidnapping, reading is NOT criminal!!

Dear Kools ,

I agree that Indra has been reduced to a caricature in DKDM, but it does not bother me as all I focus on is the Mahadev parivaar, with the adorable, roly poly Pillayar
(which is what we in Tamil Nadu call Ganesha), the eagle faced Kartikeya, and of course Mahadev and the wonderful Parvati. I just about tolerate Ashokasundari - could they not find someone better looking? She does not seem to belong to this exceptionally goodlooking family at all.

Indra is presented better in the latest Ramayana, though of course his is a limited side role.

As you must have seen if you watch the Ramayana, it is he who is shown (in a breathtakingly revisionist take on Kaikeyi that was not appreciated by my mother, who was hearing of this 'soft' version for the first time in her 80+ years!) as having asked Kaikeyi to do what she did to Dasharata and to Rama, so that Rama's purpose in life could be fulfilled. He tells her that no one else would know of this and so she would be reviled for all the ages to come, but that her place in swarg would be assured. I personally prefer the old Kaikeyi; it was always nice to be able to abuse her wholeheartedly.

As for Zeus (Jupiter in the Roman pantheon), of course he was the King of the gods and ruled from Mount Olympus with his consort Hera (Juno), but he was really the king, unlike Indra, who always has the Trimurti towering over him. Zeus was violent and capricious, as were all the Greek good, male and female, and extremely promiscuous. Our gods are choir boys by comparison!😉

I liked your references to Indra outwitting the brahmin (who must have been a pretty sharp practitioner of kootneeti himself), and to his giving Karna something in return for crippling him by denuding him of the kavacha-kundalas he was born with. Probably an attempt to salve his conscience!

As you would know, Lord Krishna too was not above practising kootneeti when required. Remember when he blows his conch to drown out Yudhishtira's conscience-striken whisper of 'kunjalaha' (an elephant) after he says 'Ashwattama hataha' (Ashwattama is dead), since they have killed an elephant named Ashwattama? Of course they want to convey the (false) impression to Dronacharya that it is his son Ashwattama who has been killed. Lord Krishna's ploy succeeds, and Dronacharya loses his focus , making it possible for the Pandavas to attack and kill him.

But at that very instant, the wheels of Dharmaputra Yudhishtira's chariot, till then always a few inches above the ground because of his unswerving commitment to the truth, come down to terra firma, as he is now as other mortals.

Kalapi, the original Vedic gods worshipped by the Aryans (though the Aryan invasion theory has now been practically discarded) were Indra, Agni, Varuna, Surya, and Vayu, with perhaps Aditi and Yama added on. It was primarily nature worship by nomadic tribes, which was supplanted by a more structured religion once fixed settlements came into being and the nomadic way of life was given up for the most part.

Well, to protect me from being declared off topic - I find Ovi very touching in the last 2-3 episodes, pathetically eager to please with Arjun, and to be reassured when she talks to Onir. As for what might happen to her, I feel, contrary to what many of you seem to expect, that she will come thru it safe and sound, and even if she gives up Arjun, she will keep the baby. It means a lot to her now, and I think this is independent of what she feels for Arjun. I think she will be much better off that way, without this terminally confused goop for a husband.

Lastly, I cannot for the life of me understand how Purvi hopes to explain away the timing of her anticipated delivery. WHAT are she, and Onir, about hanging around in Mumbai where she is sure to be exposed any day now? The CVs seem to have put their collective brains into cold storage!

Bye, folks, I shall now get back to being good!😉This was not a fit of recidivism, but a sudden attack of Koolitis.😉 Indian mythology is truly irresistible.

Indra was worshipped a lot before the advent of Sri Krishna

He taught the people to focus on the supreme being as a whole and not to worship just one aspect ...Indra respresented just an aspect

Krishna taught sadguru worship .total surrender to the supreme being , no appeasement policies , no vows , he introduced a new kind of worship ...work or karma . No need to worship with flowers and rituals , just do ur work honestly and offer it to God . To prove it , he performed a miracle ...the lifting of the Govardhan mountain . He taught the simple cow herds who appeased an aspect of nature that worship the tools of ur work instead , those that give u ur dailybread and butter .

In the case of the cow herds it were the cows .

With the advent of this thought process the worship of Indra and Brahma declined in the kaliyuga .

Indra has a colourful personality . He was adept at politics . He represented shrewd ness ...what they called as koot neeti . It was a science to be mastered .

He has asked a brahmin [ this is a tale from bengali devotional literature] who craftily said ' All Indra's work' when he beat a cow to death inspite of being a brahmin ...he tricked him into confessing to his crime and accepting responsibility for his mistake by flattering his ego and making him accept the exquisite workmanship of his garden .

He imparted a valuable lesson ... each one is responsible for his karma , cleverly shirking it by suddenly surrendering to god is crafty and god knows craftiness .

We see him blessing Karna . He had gone there to ensure life for his son but was impressed by Karna's generosity and noble nature [ karna gifted him the kavach kundals although he recognised him as Arjun's biological father] and gave him the usage of his thunderbolt for one day [ this weapon was later used to kill Ghatotkacha...Karna was saving it for Arjun but the Kauravas requested him when Ghatotkacha created havoc in their camp]

It shows an appreciation of virtues by the shrewd master of politics .

He was a very good friend to his friends . His friendship with Pururava is legendary and he advised him not to get emotional about a mere woman ...if u appreciate beauty i will give u some of the most beautiful apsaras in my court, he said . But Pururava pined for Urvashi and when he saw that it was love not lust ...he set Urvashi free from being an apsara at his court .

He has slain Vrtra and been a blessing to the gods .

I believe that the greeks called him Zeus as Zeus has exactly the same personality and is picturised with his weapon the thunderbolt and he was the king of the gods .

He was fair and extremely good looking and could be a superb ascetic when he chose to . The portrayal of Indra in all the serials is all wrong . Sure he has made mistakes and has his share of curses but they were all spiritual mistakes that he rectified after a second thought .

I could go on and on about Parshuram but i will stop as i gotta go and this is not the thread .😆

zoya 🤗 i cannot thank u enough for suggesting those books ...please please pass on such suggestions whenever u comeacross a good read . I will make it a point to hunt them down and read them.

shyamala the masters of koot neeti were

Krishna , Indra and Chanakya . Vishnu ...the supreme form of Sri Krishna was a master in this science .

The brahmin was very crafty and thought he could outwit God with his cunning . Indra played the same game and made him accept responsibility for his mistake .

He appreciated intelligence but also was touched by virtue . His blessing of King Shibi who cut himself and finally offered himself instead of the pigeon he protected ...or his appreciation of Karna proves it .

Thats it ...😆 no more .

I agree with Varsha that coming to Mumbai is a sub conscious act by Purvi ...just like she had not left Mumbai for Ovi as she showed but for saving her own skin , her coming back too is not for Ovi but for other purposes .

I hope Ovi's baby lives and she goes with him or her to Canada .

Hey Zoya 🤗🤗

I did see your post in the other thread, and wanted to reply, but I avoided😆, since I have been in recent time unfairly and continuously targeted for warning or threats, but, that is the forum to all of us. Right now, warnings are like ladoos raining from heaven, in fact my advice to all, don't even sneeze 😉while writing about the pavitra couple, as that will be construed as bashing.

Ok, lets move on to other interesting territories. I did only a few days back order "The Immortals of Meluha" from Amazon after coming across great reviews. Am hoping that the book will live up to my high expectation set forth by all the online research I have done. Kool, the paper back is really cheap too, around $5 plus S&H of 4 bucks. So, am excited to get start on the first of the trilogy but your take on the language already have me doubting if I can finish the book. With my lifestyle, if the language isn't lucid, it becomes a drag.

Chitra Devakaruni, isn't my fav author, but will try this book too, although with my preference for audio book these days, I hardly find many options (and she isn't that much in demand here to have audio books for her novels).

Thanks again darling, do update us on some fun reads, especially from India🤗
